  • this was entertaining, funny, inspiring, mind-baffling and scary at the same time

  • I am a full-time professional magician and agent for about 30 entertainers and I can say this guy blew me away. I understand parts here and there but the quality of this show was amazing. Just enough comedy, shock value, and personality.

Some people inspire me to be better, some make me feel good about my show, this one makes me want to quit.

  • LOL !!!!!

  • Go and see him live and leave the show wondering what the hell happened and feeling slightly peculiar and not really knowing why

    either !

Great fun and a brilliant evening

  • I have just ordered my ticket !

  • i'm going to see Derren's Engima show in Birmingham on April 27th in Birmingham (UK) - Go to Ticketmaster and get a ticket, there are still a single ones few left - worth every penny

  • hes a fucking good entertainer at least wot a crack old skool style love it

  • amazing entertainer!

i would love to see him live sometime!

  • remember the moment when he fainted, the backstage crew came in and the curtains were closed. he might have done something with the box then.

  • how would he know who the last girl was though

  • she was sitting in the front row throughout the performance, it would not be difficult to note what she was wearing and during the interval write it on the scroll. The trick here is the table on which the scroll sits. the scroll is inserted at the last moment, but the audience think the box has not been touched throughout the performance - Easy

  • the box was in front of the curtain haha

  • @putitallontheline Didn't he say the box was in front of the curtain?

Also, near the end when he steps forward to bow you can see what appears to be a white string/cord of some kind near his back. Could be electronic, or it could be some wardrobe accessory.

  • I know his secrets! HE HAS A TIME MACHINE

  • I wonder if it was just plain research. I know in the preamble that it said:

"No of the members of tonight's audience are actors or stooges.

Neither Derren or his production team had any contact with them before the show."

If you wanted to be picky, this doesn't necessarily mean that they didn't, for example, contact their friends or see what their latest status was on Facebook was. This is certainly what the psychics do before their shows...

  • lol, psychics use facebook.....haha?

  • Well, traditionally obituaries and other bits of useful information in newspapers were the tools of these ridiculous harmful creatures know as psychics. In the modern era, the Internet and particularly social networking sites have been the 'modus operandi' for these people to gather information and then deceive and manipulate you.

At least Derren is honest about his deception without making the two terms a contradiction. He is also doing to make you a more critical thinker rather than a patsy.

  • I really don't think he would have guessed and learn about everyone in the show, on every show, ect.

But this is my opinion. Is that an old show ?

Recently I realized he really gave bullshit explanations about his tricks... haha.

Just to fuck with us a little bit more

  • wow

  • anyone else see how he twitches throughout the evening?

  • yeah, his head twitches a lot.

  • rozjebał mnie po raz kolejny...

  • absolutely amazing! Derren Brown is absolutely incredible in what he does... I am utterly in awe at that performance

  • why did he choose the green box? derren tells you at the beginning that the $5000 is in the BLUE box!!!!

  • That guy is FUCKING amazing

  • i cant understand how does his endings...

being able to predict in advance everything in the show... seems impossible without stooges.

  • axdcs1: I don't understand how he does most of his stuff either, but my understanding is that he doesn't predict what will happen- he arranges what will happen. Giving him the benefit of the doubt and assuming he doesn't use stooges (and he hasn't made a deal with the devil), I'm guessing he just influences the audience members into writing down certain numbers or believing they always intended to ask him the question he's planted in their minds, etc.

  • I agree. We all know he's a master at subliminal persuasion, so he could have easily influenced what the people would choose. As for the oracle act, that still baffles me. It seemed to be so much more detailed than a regular cold reading.

  • bKiwiD: He is good at giving secret messages and stuff but this is a mentalist trick criss angel used the same trick to predict the race car race in one of his episodes and other magicians use this technique also. dont bother asking how its done becuase i wont tell you.

  • Criss Angel has nothing on Derren Brown. He is more of a stuntman, he certainly aint a mentalist

  • lol yea i wasn't like comparing them i personally don't like criss angel i was just saying he used the same system im predicting an event

  • I fully agree. I heard (and I really don't know if it's true) that Criss has used a stooge or 2 in his time, for example, pretends to magic a woman in half in a public park! Her legs get up and run in circles while her upper body flails around. How could she not be in on it?

  • @computersolutions164 Am I wrong in thinking that "mentalist" means insane person in the UK? Also, Derren did the "guess a number" thing with Karl Pilkington and explained to Pilky that certain types of people pick certain numbers.

Since learning that I've noticed that the same numbers come up in Derren's shows, almost without exception. Just like the image of the cat does.

  • No in the UK Mentalist is another name for an illusionist / magician like Derren,

although Derren does not like the term "Mentalist" apparently.

If a person is said to be "Mental" though then yes it does mean insane, mad, bonkers, nuts or whatever you want to call it. I know,. I Know English is a funny language

  • @computersolutions164 I hear RIcky Gervais use the word "mentalist" often in that way, among some others. I had heard that Derren didn't like it. Maybe that's why?

  • I still don't get the point of the faint... I thought it might be clearer at the end. Or was it just for a bit of shock-and-awe?

  • it was just to demonstrate how the oracles back in the day used to finish off their shows ie: a dramatic ending to a seemingly impossible ability. so yeah shock and awe

  • thank you very much for posting... we don't get darren on tv here in the states --let alone lperforming live

i stayed up til 3am watching all 8 parts!
