Theres also one thing that hasn't been mention in this discussion.. "Talent"... there are people who are born with musical talents such as "good ears", the ability to remember a melody and the tempo of the song correctly, and from their memory they could play any song. There are also people who learn faster than others and people who learn slowly. everyone develops unevenly
wow a lot of argument in here... well i gotta say i pretty much agree with Trezveil, the way to learn is playing what you can play until its perfect, then move onto something harder. If you go straight to the harder/faster stuff, your brain doesn't have the time to understand the movements, and therefore your hands work in umcomfortable positions which would eventually turn into your default movements if you keep doing that. That's no good.
@ferdk16 A good way to test this is by taking a riff/solo you think you play good enough, get a metronome, turn it 20/30 bpm down (slower) and play it. If you can't play perfectly EVERY SINGLE NOTE in there, then chances are you can't play it at normal speed and you're tricking yourself that it sounds "decent enough". Well its up to you if you want to sound "decent" or "good".
When learning a lick play it really slow, until it comes naturally, then add the speed. First train your Brain.
At the part where Juri starts singing "konna shashin mou, youni mou ichido", treat it like S[k]ape:Goat's riff: use the E string for your bassline and the others (A? D?) for your lead line. Be sure to palm-mute the E; don't want it getting too loud.
Other than that, I'm impressed. I only know one other friend of mine who can play this, though I have several who listen to their stuff. Good work. :)
This song is on what tuning? Good cover anyways even if it is not that accurate ( I myself doesn't know how to play it anyway.. what do I know about it? :p) It just sounded a little too trebly I think.. (was that right??)
HurricaneHugo429: Another perfect example, Kelly Simonz who can play Yngwie Malmsteens music perfect if not better than Yngwie himself.
How did Kelly Simonz do this you ask? He was taught guitar from the ground up and learned pretty much all of the neoclassical guitar technique there is and THEN covered the songs. He didnt sit around covering yngwie songs until he got better thats not the way to learn guitar.
If you go down that path you will only get so far then hit a brick wall -.-
you do know that there are 72 semitones (or a 12th tone) between 1 half step right? you MUST know since u know about music so much. the chances are of a person hitting the exact note in a whole step is about 2 and 1/72, thru-out a whole piece of music it gets greater and greater. the fact that a note sounds correct and has the correct pitch does NOT mean that its the exact note
THEREFOR, there is is no possible way a person can play a piece exactly tone for tone except by the original composer.
Ok here is where you lost the argument a long time ago. I DIDNT SAY play the piece EXACTLY like the original :P I SAID play it PERFECTLY meaning the notes are correct the tone is correct and the entire technique is correct. Playing a song perfectly and playing it EXACTLY like the author are different things. A cover is a perfect playing of the song weither you try or not and a copy is playing it exactly like the composer. anything else is an attempt no matter what you say =p
perfect and exact are the exact same thing. 100% isnt 95%, its 100%.
your saying you want a cover, but you want everything to be perfect, therefor its a "copy" in your logic.
if tone and pitch and everything else about a cover is the same as the original, why would anyone do a cover or listen to a cover if i can just listen to the damn original. your logic is completely wrong, and youve showed you dont have as much knowledge of music as u say you do.
and just a side note, you must be one hell of a music student in japan to basically stay up all night to reply to my comments, seeing as how you replied every 1-2 hours after the post.
and since i cant let this go, you clearly said before "Always go to the limit and beyond or dont bother with it at all."
therefor, why settle for anything LESS than a cover that is exactly pitch for pitch, note for note correct. if you like any cover thats anything but played 100% instead of the composer, your whole logic goes right out the window.
lmao your right you cant let it go XD you go for any possible way to come out of the argument on top and its kinda say =P I stated all my points and I really dont care if you need to scrape things together to try and seem right XDD
You are superior in every way and can stop trying no k? =)
HurricaneHugo429: Oh and btw there are PLENTY of musicians who can play other composers music 100% Just because Syu or Leda writes something doesnt mean they are the only guitarists who can play it lmfao xDDD
Guitar is universal and anyone who understand the theory & Technique at an advanced level can play galneryus, deluhi versailles and many other artists music EVEN classical pieces <3
and if you ever learned anything from "the process of learning music" ud kno that no1 playing the same piece will be exactly the same.music teachers tell you that from beginning to end in ur musical career. its physically impossible to play EXACTLY what somebody else composes, theres always slight differences because of techniques and influences and just because somebody understands theory doesnt mean they can play it, they need the skill, which is gained by pushing youself to learn harder songs
At the classic rock jam different musicians all came together and played "The Trooper" and it was a PERFECT cover. Syu being one of the guitars as well as many other famous musicians who have no backround of being in any bands did it just right.
Any music teacher that says you cant play someone else composed music perfectly doesnt know what they are talking about =P
yea you are right i might redo this soon since i have an HD camera now and i guess i was in such a rush i didnt get time to properly learn the solo... only had 2 weeks. Im trying to take my time from now on though so i can have perfect videos
thats good. I hate how so many ppl post vids saying its a cover when the tone is so far off, the wrong notes are being played and the technique/ability of the guitarist isnt what it should be to even be playing some of the things
GRR *munches bread* Too many covers on youtube that arent really covers.
Well in all fairness I think they should be considered covers because people put a lot of time and effort into them. Not all people can afford to have the pedals and amplifiers to produce a close enough tone and even I sometimes spend hours tweaking i barely ever come close. But yes alot of metal guitarists who just learn metal need to work on technique and study other styles like Leda has. This is why I have such an avid fascination with classical and jazz right now.
regardless of the "Effort" they put in they cant be called covers.
ITs an attempt regardless of how much effort was used. Trying to let people slide and get away with not doing things 100% is a really bad thing actually and one of the main problems with education, discipline & other teachings in ALOT of countries.. XD
Always go to the limit and beyond or dont bother with it at all. Or do things that are within your ability scope. Thats how things should be =P
If somebody always plays in their "ability scope" then how do you expect them to grow as musicians? Also your comment about not doing things 100% is very ignorant. NOBODY other than the original composer of the piece can play it 100%. So why do you play guitar? You wont play any pieces you learn 100%, nor will u grow as a musician by your dumb logic.
Your the one who is ignorant XD Since when did you have to play HARDER songs to advance as a musician?
You advance as a musician by BEING TAUGHT music theory, technique and playing things ON YOUR LEVEL. When your teacher allows it after you have learned the next level of techniques THEN you can play harder stuff XD
When you actually study and understand how the process of learning music works come back and comment k =)
2)how do you plan to get better. If i sit there and never learn the techniques needed to play solos/etc. then i will never be able to play solos/etc.
You contradict yourself alot. If somebody teaches me to play chords over and over again, thats ALL they will know. Its about pushing yourself to grow, and if you dont push yourself, you stick at your current skill level.
I have only been playing a little less then two years and my rapid growth was due to myself pushing myself past my limits. I know many guys who have been playing as long as me but have limited to themselves to simply what they are taught and they have progressed way slower and some even lack a developed ear.
IM NOT SAYING play only what you are taught im SAYING learn & PERFECT the technique of the song before attempting to cover it.
And the best way to do that is to get a good guitar teacher and learn EVERYTHING you possibly can from them and perfect guitar like these musicians in famous bands did.
None of them sat around just playing more and more songs they were all taught. Paul gilbert, Yngwie, Takayoshi, Leda & Syu were ALL TAUGHT thats why they play the way they do.
Its kinda hard to tell how much theory knowledge a person has from just watching a video of them playing. Yngwie malmsteen can not even read notes and you are using him as a comparison. Did he learn his theory? Because notes are the building blocks of all theory . All musicians develop unevenly and there is no point arguing about it.
xD I kno im not trying to argue that i am simply saying that claiming people cannot learn to play another persons music perfectly is stupid =\ There are people who can even play paul gilberts stuff perfectly since yngwie isnt a good enough example.
my point however is still valid, Yngwie composed music and poeple can play it perfectly lol. ANd those songs are alot harder than deluhi songs i can assure you that =P
dude, do you think you could send me a tab of the beginning part of the solo? it sounds kickass and i cant find a video (besides this one) that shows it. if you could, i would be forever appreciative
direct record from boss gt 10 i dont know i guess the tone doesnt tower enough for me compared to some other youtube videos i see where the guitar is really crystal clear.
May You should record sound separatly and then mix it with video track-when I tried record sound and video in the same time(on media movie maker)sound always was worst.I think diffeent(to high) sensitivity of movie maker.(On cubase I always get better tone)
