  • I gave up my scapula, too!

  • Converting from Catholicism to Judaism is literally going "from the frying pan into the fire."

  • @buzzclick500 Now THAT is funny. Thanks!

  • @johncfl : ;])

  • The Jews engineered, condoned, advocated and supported the murder of God's Son, Jesus Christ. Elaboration on that fact is pointless, as it's documented. Definitely not a people to play games with.

  • @buzzclick500 First thought: Jesus was born Jewish, was a very devout Jew, was originally preaching to the Jewish people, so by your previous logic of Judaism being evil, then Jesus must be evil, sense that is what he was born as and what religion he practiced. Second thought: the Jews did not have any say so over anything. A handful of Jewish leaders wanted it done, but it was the Romans who had the say so and the power to do it. So the real fault, the real culprits, is the Romans.

  • @morinavampile : Well, you have not read the Gospels, and it's obvious to those of us who have, so perhaps we can continue this discussion at a later time.

  • @buzzclick500 My dear friend, I have my Bible, just as you do right next to my computer. As I have said, I have read the Gospels. I am saddened to see a fellow Christian pour out so much hate and doubt just because someone has a slightly different belief than you. Jesus preached about love "Love your neighbor as yourself". So before you want to call someone else's religion evil, the splinter that you see in their eye, you might want to take the board out of your own.

  • @morinavampile : To his own congregation, Satan is a genius.

  • @morinavampile : WHO sent and commanded the Roman SOLDIERS to do what they did? It wasn't Pontius Pilate--he OFFICIALLY and ceremoniously washed his hands of involvement(in front of everyone present)on the advice of his beloved wife, who said "Have nothing to do with that righteous man, for I have been troubled by him in a dream."

  • @buzzclick500 This is going around in an endless circle. As I've said before, I am sad to hear that you choose to hold hate in your heart for people who you have never met, who are just as right in their faith and beliefs as you are, who believe in the same God as you.. Those who know hate, cannot not know love, for they are the complete opposites of each other. The devil has a way of taking the truth, and twisting it just enough to still make it seem true, but it's really a lie.

  • @morinavampile : The accuser is subservient to the accused. I don't hate anybody, though I may hate what they DO. The burden of proof is on the ACCUSER, and Satan IS the ultimate accuser--especially of people who are trying to do good.

  • @morinavampile : Pilate told the Jews, "His blood be on you," and the Jews replied, "His blood be on us and on our children!" Probably not the wisest reply, under the circumstances. The obvious is the obvious: these are some thoroughly NASTY people.

  • @buzzclick500 You cannot judge the whole, based on the actions of a few. Take a few moments and ask the holy spirit to send you wisdom and understanding. I believe that the true message of the Gospels is a message of love, peace and tolerance for everyone. Let go of this hatred you have, for all it is doing is warping, twisting and darkening your soul.

  • @buzzclick500 I pray for you: "St Michael, the Archangel, Defender in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, I humbly pray, O Prince of the Heavnly Host, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world, seeking the ruin of souls. Amen."

  • @morinavampile : You're praying for something that's already been written down as destined to happen. Try praying that YOU end up on the right side of the situation.

  • Converting from Catholicism to Judaism: moving from evil to VERY evil. Jews STARTED the catholic religion; the pope wears a yarmulke.......

  • @buzzclick500 Well, then I am proud to be VERY Evil then, because I am proud to be Roman Catholic woman. Hand me my pitchfork, horns and a long island ice tea and let's have some fun!!!

  • @morinavampile : You got it, it's all yours. Whatever we ask for we receive--I don't know if any iced tea will be involved, though. Timothy 2.3

  • @buzzclick500 Now, which Timothy book are you refering to, 1 or 2? Are you refering to 1 Timothy 2.3 where God wants us all to be saved and come to know the truth or are you refering to 2 Timothy 2.3 that you want me to endure hardship like a good soldier of Jesus? Because let me tell you my dear friend, the Catholics is the original church, the Protestants were the ones who chose to break away from the Church, and do their own thing. So if I'm very evil, then they must be the devil >:)

  • @morinavampile : In what year did the Catholic church begin? It's a loaded question, because I keep a Bible next to my computer. Jesus Christ IS the original Church. Succinctly, I'm ARMED with the Word, and Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are the nuclear weapons. ;])

  • @buzzclick500 And I congradulate you for being armed with the Word, that's great that you have that level of devotion to your faith. When was it called the Catholic Church, I honestly don't know, but what I do know is that catholic means universal, so by that definition the Catholic, or universal, church started when Jesus started spreading his message, so around 33 AD.

  • @morinavampile : Jesus Christ did NOT initiate the catholic message--the Jews did, because they immediately saw in the idea the possibility of tremendous financial gain. They spread the message that Mary is the mother of God, which is a blasphemy--God has no mother, and Jesus makes it clear that only "Those who think and believe as I do, can call themselves my mother or my brother." Bingo. Catholic church: non-existent as a viable vessel of faith.

  • @buzzclick500 And what pray tell is the catholic message? Financial gain, really? The early Christians lived together in comunity, sharing everything, there was no money to be made. As for Blessed Virgin Mary, if you believe that she is not, that is your choice. BUT, God chose her from among all women to be the Mother to Jesus, and for us all. As her cousin Elizabeth said when Mary visited her "But why am I so favored, that the MOTHER of my LORD should come to me?" Luke 1:43

  • @morinavampile : If you don't know a subject at least FAIRLY thoroughly, don't you think it's kind of unwise to discuss it? If Warren Buffett(for example)tried something like that, he'd be homeless in a week.

  • @buzzclick500 So because I have a different opinion and beliefs than you, I don't know anything? So the only valid facts are your own. Well, you are entiled to your opinion, and I am entiled to mine. I want you to know, brother, that I will be praying a rosary and a chaplet of divine mercy for you tonight. May the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of us all, and her son Jesus bless you and keep you. Peace be with you and your household brother.

  • @buzzclick500 Not that I believe that the Jews, Catholics or the Protestants are evil in any way. I believe that religion is man-made, but faith comes from God. It doesn't matter how you practice (or don't practice) or what you call the Divine, that is your own personal spiritual journey and in this life you must find what speaks to the spark of the Divine in your own soul.

  • @morinavampile : The Jews, catholics and protestants are the Ultimate followers of the deceived and the damned, and any one of their members and adherents can change that, quite effectively, by reading the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, which is the "bull's-eye" of the Bible.

  • @buzzclick500 Okay, I have read the Gospels, numerous times in my 28 years of life, along with hearing them read during Mass. Now you do relalize that Matthew, Mark, Luke and John were not the only Gospels created or read at the beginnings of christianity. They were only chosen to be cannon at the Council of Emsea (I probably misspelled that) by man. Whose to say that the other Gospels where not true? Whose to say that the translation we have now is entirely correct? It's a leap of faith

  • While I love Lewis Black, I gotta wonder what would have happened if someone like George Carlin did something where a Jew converted to Catholicism and railed on all the idiosyncrasies of Judaism. No doubt, Bill Maher would say something in New Rules, and Abe Foxman would be demanding an apology for an anti-Semitic rant.

  • @Firebird7478 anti Catholicism is Americas last acceptable prejudice.

look at the numbers. last year the massive problem of sexual assault happened tens of thousands of times in the public school system by teachers on teenagers. in the catholic church it was six. not six thousand. just six.

one is clearly a massive problem , the other is the best in the world . the best in the world will be sued into the poorhouse and ruined in terms of reputation by the media. the worst given a free pass.

  • @ned262626 : America's last "acceptable" prejudice is blind hatred of money--and people who have some.

  • Flaaaaaaaaame waaaaaaaaaaaaaaar

Jeez people get a life, enjoy the video and move on

  • i love being a christian, i did not like being born a catholic..

  • YouTube should seriously start a forum component to their website. Half of all the comments on videos on the site turn into religious political bullshit discussions. Watch the video, comment like you got a fucking brain whether you like it or not, and move the fuck on to the next.

  • @DSWrath

    i second and third that

  • @DSWrath come on man, where's the fun in that? Only a YouTube can you click on a video about something like a child being baptized and it breaks into a religious debate, which gives way to political debates, which lead to racism and finally it the honorary YouTube fashion, having the discussion, like all YouTube discussions, end with bring up the subject of Adolf Hitler! Isn't that magical transformation that should be shared with everybody?! ;D

  • @DSWrath Watch the video, don´t read the comments like you got a fucking brain if you don´t want to, and move the fuck on to the next.

  • @Computerdisplay

I point and put emphasis on my comment above, since you're one of those mindless people I stated in my comment.

  • But those among them who are well-grounded in knowledge, and the Believers, believe in what hath been revealed to thee and what was revealed before thee; and (especially) those who establish regular prayer and practise regular charity and believe in Allah and in the Last Day: to them shall We soon give a great reward.

  • @darladodo1 Get lost loser, don't you have to black asteroid to worship in the desert? Go praise that as your Allah, the rest of us have better things to do than take some pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.

  • look all im saying is to everyone put down that book your reading and go live out your life to whatever end. don't think about where your going or where you may have came from. just be what we set out to be. one people, one nation , one country, and most importantly ..... ONE WORLD. thank you for your time

  • ok everyone seriously , this i why i know we will not have world peace in my life time. i am and atheist and i wont go into argument but fighting over who's got the better book is a little childish don't you agree. look what ever the reason we are here , weather it be by a god of some sort , or aliens. or even by any randomization. why cant we all agree on we truly as a people have no clue as to our existence. i mean we learn mostly from books yet we should learn from our own experience.

  • @69e5d9e *Yawn* If you don't like the comments then leave.

  • source?

  • Funny thing that many jews have no respect for their religion and, possibly because of that, they think they're entitled to disrespect other religions aswell.

Sorry Lewis-dude (and all the rest alike), it does not work that way.

  • @qopha Everyone is entitled to disrespect religion.

  • @eurisko67 "Everyone is entitled to disrespect religion."

    I've checked your profile.

Atheists who behave like yourself are perverting the true sense of what means being an atheist.

Anti-religion fundamentalism, harassing everyone who does follow a religion, looks like a religion itself. - I smell hypocrisy from people like that.

  • @qopha The only hypocrisy is one you create to legitimize your own world view. You call atheism a religion so you can fashion for yourself a starting point for your empty religious arguments. By the way, fundamentalism is belief that every word a sacred text is literate. Atheists have no sacred text, atheists have no dogma. Do you see what I mean by empty arguments?

Let me ask you a very simple, non-facetious question. Why should someones religion be respected?

  • @eurisko67 "You call atheism a religion so you can fashion for yourself a starting point for your empty religious arguments."

No, I wrote that about "atheists who behave like yourself". Don't twist my words.

"Atheism" is not a synonym for "anti-religion", but many people simply don't get it.

"Why should someones religion be respected?"

    Because it's _their_ particular problem?

Because people should be respected by default?

  • @qopha People should be respected by default? No, they shouldn't. Respect is not an inherent property of humanity. It must be earned. Elicited through deeds, qualities and admirable character. Religion is not a "problem" restricted to theists. They infect the secular community with their "problems" and make them "our" problems. So I'll ask you again, and this time give a genuine answer. Why should someone's religion be respected?

  • @eurisko67 Clearly you don't want argumentation, you just want a source for word twisting and a punchbag to repeat over and over your anti-religion vitriol.

Frothing zealots like you are the ones who give atheism a bad name.

    Good riddance.

  • @qopha You know, no matter how many times I ask that question, no one seems to be able to answer. Instead, they resort to typical personal attacks because that's all they can come up with. Bottom of the barrel debating tactics.

Frothing zealots? Um.. it's a simple question bud. And any reasonable person would be able to stand by the courage of their convictions and answer it.

  • @eurisko67 Because when people feel that their religion is being disrespected, some followers will resort to violence. So for the collective, it is a way to ensure the safety of the many. Only problem is that this infringes on the rights of the individual, but its worth it if it maintains peace.

  • @qopha or perhaps these "many Jews" of which you speak, are disenfranchised and don't believe religions period. There are also many christians, atheists, and agnostics who fall into this realm. The difference is that you can be Jewish and atheist/agnostic, but if you are chrsitian, you are just, well, christian.

  • @qopha I'm Jewish and I don't think that way. However I do think your being a prejudice prick by grouping whole family in with a guy who's occupation is a comedian. Its really funny when you little shits start telling me how we control the... World/World Economy/World's Banks/ALL Hollywood/ALL American Media/American Government, ect. because I thought I played video games in my free time but I guess I was too busy being a "Zionist".

  • @Volf99 I wish the jews did. I don't know if the Chinese are going to be so kind with the US debt. Have a good day.

  • anyone else think he looks like Edward James Olmos from this angle? if he were in a Battlestar uniform he'd be set lol

  • Did he just say "screw you...shit...fuckin" in Temple? LOLOL!!!!

  • I'm a life long catholic,if a bad, lapsed one, and my best frien is jewish, and too all you people arfuing religious seriuosly I think we'd both agree with what lewis would say if he saw this vid and commented, namely a long funny tirade,as you people are some of his favorite targets, after politicians.take it elsewhere people, sheesh.

  • this guy is killing me with the funny

  • Oh wait, I got one. Remember how they used to tell knights on Crusade that they'd be absolved of all their sins no matter how heinous? What a fun April Fools joke that was!

  • @Thoralmir ehy you want to know something new? the pope that started the first crusade pope urbano the second was in fact a jew of course you will not read this in the enciclopedya but if you don't want to trust me go ask elie wiesel in his book "Wise Men and Their Tales" it confirm this in the first chapter

  • @ErikCartman Well if his plan was to send a bunch of Christians to their deaths as retribution, the joke was on him, what with all the Jew massacres that followed. :p

  • All organizes religions are simply for people who are fucked in the head. These people are in such bad shape mentaly I'd be afraid.....as we can see through the history of Christianity and Islam. FUCKED IN THE HEAD!

  • Catholicism is true perfection.

    Judaism is just sexier.

  • It is indeed a synagogue, in DC.

  • Lewis Black is comic genius....that's it, that's all....

wow...is easy to see how "holy wars" get started.....ignorance is bliss

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz LOSAAAHHH !

  • well i'm an atheist and i don't like no organized religion.

but for kiping fact straight you can control for yourself.....you have never saw with you eyes a chatolic priest doing something wrong.....i suggest you to see "to cach a predator" to see what a rabbi who work with kids is doing in his spare time looking to fuck a 13 years old boy. now i ask you why in hundresds of pedophile only a rabbi show uo and not a single chatolic?? can you answer that?

  • seeing as the majority of people identify themselves (though they aren't) as "christian" in some form or another, mixed with your massive lack of ability to spell even simple words when there's a spell checker running... I think the community will let you live in your little delusional world until you die of an infection waiting for miracle because modern medicine is the devil. Ah the Catholics - who only recently stated "the bible cannot be taken as full truth" because the earth is not flat. GG

  • @Azmodawn "well i'm an atheist and i don't like no organized religion."

what an idiot you must be.

by the way i learned your language watching tv so imagine how easy it must be and i don't give a fuck about spelling either.

.... i was talking about pedo rabbies and how is full of them also (both chatolic and rabbies of course) but i see you have a prob with that

  • the hebrew word for earth is "aretz." the root of the word is retz which means running. The jews always knew the earth was round. it is the new testament and the catholic church who stated it was flat. One of the billion reasons jews that know anything about their religion dont follow the contradiction and mistake the new testament is

  • @bbb505 How dare you spit on the new testament. You follow the old mosaic law.

Keep waiting for the messiah retard. he already came.

and tell your buddies in Israel to stop murdering innocent Palestinians you fascist

  • yea lmao the messiah came alright..he must have been drinking on the job because i dont see world peace..and idk whats funnier the fact that you called palestinians "innocent" or called me a fascist. Ill be sure to use civilians as shields when someone attacks me maybe people will also call me "innocent"

  • @bbb505 Actually neither Catholics nor Jews as religious group thought the earth was flat, as much as they engaged with the question at all. Roundness was pretty much accepted even among the ancient Greeks. It was the question of the earth rotating around the sun or the sun rotating around the earth that got the Catholics excited (Galileo Galilei).

  • well see how it works in my religion..my rabbi can name his rabbi and his rabbis teacher..all the way leading to moses. go to gateways.org. g-d created the hebrew language and with the letters of the alphabet he created the universe. Thats why all the secrets in life are contained within the hebrew language..The world being round is one of them by finding the root of the word.

  • @bbb505 What I was trying to say is that Catholicism never doubted that the earth is spehrical. I am not a Catholic, but essentially it is not fair to claim that they thought the earth was flat. You can read the "Myth_of_the_Flat_Earth" article in wikipedia about it...

  • if you need a link let me know i can show you the complete serie with the rabbi phoning the show afterwards to say that was theyr fault if he was there loool (it was the early series with no cops so he went away). or i can show you many many articles in the news written by jews on how the best and useful show on tv (to catch a predator) was phornography (ask me for the link if you want) and entrapment!!!! or you want a site with a list of known rabbies pedophile it is very very long

  • that's a very ignorant stand on religion, just because you don't agree with someone elses belief's that makes it false?

  • I agree! Very immature

  • See his other work, he is a well minded man, who makes excellent points.

  • Is he performing this in a church or a temple? I would like to know the setting of this performance.

  • Judging by the menorah, I'd say it's a temple.

  • I am Catholic and think this clip is soooo fucking funny. Now, to those non-Catholic Christians who think we "worship" Mary and the saints: We don't. Intercessory prayer is used because Mary and the saints are spiritually closer to God than we are, therefore give the prayer more, i dunno, power? merit? But seriously, the statues and paintings are just art work, for inspirational purposes. Its not like we think "oh if i bow before a statue of Mary cookies will fall from heaven."

  • Power?! Merit?!

Even you as a Catholic can recognize such things as pure nonsense.

I'm not a believer, but the fact that the Church enforces the concept of a mediator, just sounds like a thinly veiled excuse for the mandate given to the Pope: The representative of God on Earth.

It's a con, though I'm sure even the Pope probably believes the nonsense he spews.

Read your Bible, pick the parts that you think you can use as good guide and discard the rest.

The golden rule is good. The rest? Hmm.

  • Hi Kimjira, well you actually do worship Mary....the evidence is clear. Look it up, read all those prayers dedicated to her. She is even seen as the Messiah with athority like Jesus. She was ha-al'ma= a young woman, not a virgin and certainly not a heavenly queen...that is idolatry according to the Bible. Look it up: heavenly queens, Ishtar, Ashera etc. Read the WHOLE first commandments; do not make any image of heaven or earth...

    Love and Peace,

  • @TheSeaboat

As an ex Catholic i know that you sir, are an idiot.

Catholics worship god and give reverence to mary and other saints. They don't just stop at jesus.

If you don't know shit about what you're criticizing then its safest to shut your facehole before you embarass yourself.

  • you just contradicted your first commandment.

worshiping mary before god is as bad as those who worship jesus before god.

And in rome, they do worship mary and give offerings to her and many others.

if you want to convince yourself that somehow mary is a receptionist for our god go right ahead.

rose colored glasses heart no one but those afraid to take them off.

  • @tillo2008

    not to smart are we?

  • ? 0_o

  • @Kimjira1 Yeah, I used to hear that shit when I was a kid back in the 50s. Like having statues and stain glass windows to make a church pretty meant that we were worshiping idols. Some like to dismiss the silliest things as their rationale that their religion is better or something.

  • @johncfl I completely agree with you.

  • hey dumbass Christian, Catholic, Judism, and Islam all believe in the same God. Called Abrahimic religions for a reason, and if you really want to get into it seperating Christian from Catholism is even dumber, as the word christian means one who believes in Christ

  • I once asked my Jew roomie if Catholic guilt was worse than Jew guilt and he had no answer; might have been offended. Glad that Lewis cleared it up.

  • I'm catholic and i find this hilarious.

in my opinion its okay for anyone to change religions if they please. she is still lovin the same god after all.

  • give it a break tamacracker. he's a comedian!

and he's right, orthodoxy is really hard (I don't think i could even do conservative >.>) if you don't believe in that version why should you convert to it......

and i'm jealous of not having purim hahahahahaha

  • I'm a jew, and i would just like to say that anyone who wants to convert is making a good decision, and the whole orthodox thing is VERY VERY hard. ( go with Reconstructionist!!!) being jewish rockks. the purim partys alone...just takes my breath away.

  • He's so right about Catholics and Jews - I always thought when I was a teen that my family's Irish Catholicism (relics of saints, sprinkling holy water, etc) was the height of absurdity. After all, it's a spiritual faith and you obsess about physical objects all the time. But in fact Orthodox Judaism is even crazier and more thing-orientated than that. "You got your work cut out" indeed if you need to worry about all that stuff all the time.

  • We don't obsess over physical objects. Where does that come from? What does that even mean? I recall some wondering why there were all these statues in a Catholic church. Why not? What's wrong with a statue of Jesus and another of his Mom? And rituals with holy water. So what?

  • FIRST COMMANDMENT: You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or worship them.

  • I don't think the name matters to anyone. But I would really like to know how the virgin Mary, whom NO ONE has ever seen, has given this to you. You got it from a human establishment... the CHURCH.

  • i thought christians were supposed to have no other god before your god jesus or the trinity. so why do you worship mary and the saints like they are gods? i was born and raised christian and never understood this. mary is just another soul in heaven she was merely gods vessel if you believe this crap which i do not anymore. please give me some rational explanation of this because it seems to me if you are worshiping others like god then you are going to hell....

  • Just to make sure - you do realize that Catholics do not nor have they ever worshiped either Mary or the saints, right?

So then why do you persist in trying to perpetuate a myth?

Grow up, do some research and learn the truth. Your statement is patently ridiculous.

  • I seriously doubt you were raised Catholic,

nevertheless, when we ask anyone to pray for us we are using intercessory prayer, a genuine form of prayer that all Christians use on a regular basis. Have you ever asked a family member or a minster or a friend to pray for you? You are not worshiping that person simply because of your natural request for prayer. It is the same with Mary.

Also we do not worship statues any more than a lover of art worships paintings in a museum.

    Are you an iconoclast?

  • Aaberg, Which religion r u talking about?

  • In this case: The Catholic one. But to be honest: every single one I've come yet to come across.

  • Well, like most things I suppose, there's good and bad. There certainly are dumb rules and traditions. Many just to control you.

  • lol, ya, good luck with that

  • I personally think that anybody with the courage to convert to another religion is grace and beauty. But I am bias. My father converted to Judism.

  • lmao...good one...i too converted...from catholic to atheist....

  • Me too -

  • me too

  • i wouldn't call that a conversion....just an epiphany.

  • @Screatus same here 3 years past best choice in my life so far

  • @Screatus - Me too!

  • @Screatus what were your reasons?

  • @Screatus same here

  • Yes. I agree with HSO. Redbull starts fights and unreasonable shit talking. So put it away and we won't have to call the men in white coats.

  • Everybody has an opinion. Everybody has a nose, elbow, asshole...you get the point.

All national institutions of churches, whether Jewish, Christian or Turkish, appear to me no other than human inventions, set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit.

THOMAS PAINE: The Age of Reason

How about we just once durring the day enjoy watching a video for the sake of enjoyment.

jager18903 is right. Put down that can of RedBull. Drop that mouse, and nobdy gets hurt.

  • @HSOUIXZ You....are AWESOME. Great comment, fellow YouTuber

  • @HSOUIXZ

Turkish is a race you idiot. It has nothing to do with religion.

  • @freebiri

Hey asshole, It was a quote from THOMAS PAINE, you fucking idiot. Can't you even fucking read, you fucking moron troll?

  • Holy Shit I would like to convert to Judaism. I think that I would rather be jewish then catholic.

  • WOW. I just thought Black was funny.

You people gotta lay off the Red Bull .

This ain't the place for a fight .

  • Sane people don't need religion to tell them not to fucking murder and cheat each other.

Religion is just the backbone to our materialistic, capitalist society. Since we want more so badly, cheating is just logical.

Why would such a powerful God who can create life also create turmoil, the snake and all that shit. Why should we have to have faith; why not just 'make' us happy and in harmony.

If he did exist, he would be renowned, in my books, as one of the biggest pricks in existence.

  • well just give up all religious bullshit and you will find sanity

  • Great! Absolutely great!

  • I'm curious, where was this filmed?

  • looks like some fancy synagogue

  • "Why did you take that evolutionary step , beyond what us Jews came up with......" He's just too funny for me.

    Good LORD!!

  • Lewis black is great.

  • "Is This A Jew?"

    "ITS COVERAGE!!!"

    lmao XD

  • i agree. i am a lifelong catholic and i take everything lewis says in stride. he's hilarious and a vast majority of the things he says are true, but unlike many of my denominational friends, i believe that there is humor in every situation and that someone will always find it, and this this particular case, it's lewis black. GO LEWIS BLACK!!!

  • Absolutely. I am also a hardcore Catholic and I think that if you can't laugh at your own religion every once in a while, you're taking yourself too seriously.

  • CATholics (lol) should be in no way offended by lewis black. Lewis has more respect for catholicism than almost every catholic (American) ive ever had the displeasure to meet (they're all heretics).

  • Most Catholics(well, we American heretics at least)have a good sense of humor. Obviously, none of us were offended by this video. Did you notice the lack of negative comments? The majority of us love the Church although we often make jokes about some of the more bizzarre, archaic traditions. In my mind this skeptisim is a positive thing. The Christian fundamentalists of other denomiations are already doing serious damage to this country. We don't need our Catholics to start acting fanatical too.

  • I agree, the thing is when we catholics go fanatic we go inquisition-style fanatism, so we have learned to be more cool, there are still many catholics-fanatics out there but nothing like in dose days... Many christians of other new denominations are having their on wacko-fanatic era, there will grow over it hopefully like we did

  • totally agree cos no one expects the spanish inquisition! - sorry any excuse for monty python

as a catholic myself, ive never been so freaked out by the "wacko-fanatic" stuff Ive seen on tv in the last couple of years

as regards the vid we should all take the piss out of our religions especially the more strict ones otherwise life is too unnecessarily tense - we need to find the funnies in life

  • As a devout Catholic I'd have to say we're not so much heretics as we are idolators. I think some Catholics take the whole saint thing WAAAAY too far. I love it when Lewis Black rips on the Church, it needs it every once in a while.

  • well, the idolatry makes it more interesting, I think. more saints mean more variety in one's prayer life. there are christians way worse than catholics. first of all, catholics--or the pope at least--outright rejected the theory of creationism in addition to the war in Iraq--something largely supported by christians of other denominations in America. all the craziest shit that's going on with Christianity is Christian fundamentalism.

  • the one thing about Catholicism I find problematic is the unrelenting stance on homosexual marriage, abortion and contraceptives. it's fine to maintain these principles in one's own life, but to castigate others for disagreeing is just tyrannical.

  • John Paul the second said contraceptives should be accepted by the church. He was the pope. The view of the church has nothing to do with the view of most catholics. Most catholics, like me, believe in the use of condom, are pro abortion and pro homossexual marriage.

  • Wrong! Here's a quote I found that exemplifies John Paul II's unequivocal condemnation of all contraception: "When couples, by means of recourse to contraception, separate these two meanings that God the Creator has inscribed in the being of man and woman and in the dynamism of their sexual communion, they act as 'arbiters' of the Divine plan and they 'manipulate' and degrade human sexuality - and with it themselves and their married partner - by altering its value of 'total' self-giving."

  • So then we can't have any sexual fun unless we procreate?

  • Most catholics are "cafeteria" catholics, who pick and choose what's good for them. That's hypocritical. Ever seen the Film "Amelie?" The Prostitute working for Florian is a catholic, as evinced by her almost going to the Cathedral of Saint Anthony to pray for the recovery of her boss' photo collection. I actually find that encouraging... If a prostitute can be a catholic, y not me as well? Of course, I can hardly even call myself Christian, as I think sin is a necessary part of life...

  • Guess what -- there is no hell, no heaven and no sin. It's all made up by man to control others. If there is a hell -- it's already here on earth when man klills man. And what could be more heavenly than loving someone? And it's said that he original derivation of the word sin is a medieval archery term. When an arrow missed the bulls eye by four inches the archer had simply sinned four inches.

  • @johncfl yes, heaven and hell are on earth. furthermore inside of us (or not).
