Johnny Flynn is a hugely talented musician and a lyricist par excellence. I find his blend of very old musical style and the present day concern so refreshing in today's world dominated by commercial fatcats and hit churning out machines such as X Factor controlling the industry. This is, at it's very core, fine music, and one can very easily understand the cult following this man has!
@seanioio Good point. But I find all the comments that say things like 'so much better than all the xfactor crap' a tad ignorant. I regularly see young musicians in London that are far better at playing in this particular genre. The only reason I can see this guy getting where he is today is because he's eye candy and only the slightest bit talented. IMO.
@rugshort He is incredibly talented. He plays a wide variety of instruments and WELL at that. And as for his lyrics.. As much as I enjoy this song, this is far from his best work lyrically. He's an incredible poet. And he has a beautiful way with words.. Comparable to that of Yeats, I would even dare to say. Looks aside, this guy is a damn good musician and wonderful lyricist.

It's not an easy thing writing any song never mind a song like this and by god the guy could play trumpet, violin, guitar and madolin by the time he was 18. True he uses simple chords in his songs but his picking patterns are incredibly beautiful and complex. And I really don;t see why you need to criticize the man who in the end doesn't want the girls or any money, just to make music. He got himself dropped from his major record label!!!!
@ChrisEarl102 A record company has little to nothing to do with an individual's talent. It is his choice to still be with that specific company, though you seem to dislike it for whatever reason. Major record companies often end up trying to sell a person rather than their talent and hard work.
@TheBanjoHenry auto tuned? just a simple tuner put to use on the guitar might have made this more listenable. I doubt any music I listen to has been 'auto-tuned'. I was commenting on the lyrics which may've escaped your attention.
