"silencer" is defined in dictionaries and encyclopedias in the same way as the word "suppresser". They are synonyms. I fail to see why you see fit to tell someone to "get it right" when they are using a current and popular name (unlike refrigerating apparatus, which is neither current nor popular.) I personally I call a suppressor a suppressor, but see no reason to get my panties in a bunch when others call it by an accepted synonym.

How loud a gun sounds on video camera has a lot to do with WHERE its shot. He's on an open range with lots of open sky and next to nothing to reflect back any echo. You can achieve the same results shooting into an open field, into the air, or at a 45 degree angle at the ground - the sound will bounce up into the sky and be lost. But shoot this same UZI and silencer in a forest, or between buildings, or at a car, and you'll hear the loud as heck echo back at you, that your target hears.

Shoot up into the air (not advised due to gravity dropping the bullet on an innocent victim) in a desert or over the ocean, you hear nothing. For a real test of a silencer, shoot at some trees or in the forest, which are great reflectors, with a silencer, and you'll be like shit, this thing doesn't work. What you hear in silencer videos depends less on the quality of the silencer, and more on whats down range.
