  • In the book they weren't wood elves but high elves. And not only that, the hobbits stayed overnight with them, because their leader (Gildor Inglorion) got concerned on why the enemy chased them.

What's funny is that they already knew Frodo's name, though Frodo didn't know theirs. It's because they already knew Bilbo.

  • i bet hobbits grow pretty good weed

  • en esa parte del libro es donde conocen a gildor oo k bn he))

  • 0:01 = best part of the scene

  • Hrmh, i think all of us would be seeing wood elves if we had a puff on those pipes..

  • @lassebj2 i think the wood elves were leaving to score some sweet mary jane from the source

  • why are the elves leaving

  • @Theambasaman they have seen a vision. they know soon they will be attacked by saruman and sauron and so they are leaving for the grey haven which is somewhere they can live forever. the eleves know there is much darkness ahead. frodo later goes there too with gandalf and elrond. they are leaving for somehwere safer, although galadriel, elrond, arwen and the sort of elvish leaders stay behind to help and then at the end when everything is ok, they leave for the grey havens themselves.

  • they're trying to break the record for the world's longest penetration

i don't know why but it makes me sad

i know we should go out there and help them

  • @steelie2010

Was thinking of that video the whole time lol.

  • hobbits are stoners

  • it kinda looks like hes cooking sasauge

  • You all are a bunch of pretentious people who try too hard to be the smartest person on youtube. Congratulations, you've read the silmarillion and lord of the rings.

  • @andrewdrury1 i know, finally someone who has a brain

  • @buffy21033 People are just so egotistical. lol It gets annoying to see people trying to prove themselves to be better or smarter than everyone else. and hell, I'm probably not in the right myself for even saying something about it.

  • @andrewdrury1 I totally agree, you see those long-ass comments talking shit about something and I'm just like shut up, I don't care about whatever you've got to say. It's true I'm probably being a hypocrite right now...

  • I'm never gonna sleep mr frodo

    Neither will I Sam.

    Lol!!

  • sausages,what kind ,are they ,?

  • why were the elves leaving?

  • @ralebp54 dude they where leaving because of the upcoming war, u know Sauron's army of Mordor.

  • @311Bambino It's is more complicated than that. First of all, in the book they are High-Elves, not Wood (a.k.a Silvan) Elves. They're closer to Galadriel's than Legolas' kind.

It's not only because they escape something - they're also summoned back to Aman, the undying lands across the sea, west of Middle-Earth where they came from. They got in Middle-Earth because they got a ban. It was caused by first Dark Lord Morgoth, Sauron's master. He deceived the High-Elves and caused the Kinslaying.

  • @ralebp54 The end of the third age marks the beginning of the age of men and the dwindling of elves in middle earth. Because elves are immortal and middle earth is becoming ever more lifeless and bland, they return (or travel for the first time depending on lineage outlined in silmarillion) to the undying lands where the Valar (god like figures), Maiar and all immortal creatures dwell in bliss etc. Men are not shown passage into undying lands or "Aman" even after death, due to their mortality.

  • @b0bthekillar not really due to their mortality, the valar just saw that bringing the elves to valinor resulted in tragedie and they didn't want any trouble in their land anymore so when men were born they decided to leave them in middle-earth. But they still gave them an Island: Numenor, but that's a whole other story.

  • @queenjeremythewicked well actualy men chose to be mortal when Elros and Elrond where born. but after Melkor (morgoth) corrupted men, the Valar prohibited men from sailing west, but after Ar Phazon was corrupted by Sauron, he set sail to Valinor, because Sauron told him that it was the lands that made them immortal (wich is not true), and not all the elves went to Valinor, they actualy went to an Island that lies of the coast of Forlindon a remnant of Beleriand.

  • 0:53 ...Thats no root Sam-wise... Check again where Frodo really is.

  • @TheCheeseFood What do you mean?

  • I'm not sure Peter Jackson could have done justice to Tom Bombadil, so maybe it's better he wasn't included. It would VERY hard to make him fit with a 100% epic, serious Peter Jackson interpretation of LOTR. On the other hand Gimli was totally bungled and diluted into nothing more than an Irish caricature/comic relief, they didn't even get his hair color right. So perhaps Tom could have been included without making things too cheesy. But cutting him out also meant skipping the Barrow Downs :(

  • @susumu07

At least Jackson got the grudging respect between Gimli and Legolas that eventually becomes true friendship.

  • They need to do more lord of the rings movies like: before ardas, origins of morgoth and sauron, the war of elves and sauron, and the last alliance of men and elves i mean they should do them cause they have more than enough information about them to do it.

  • No wonder Frodo was panting by the time he gets to mordor..always smoking bad shit for his lungs

  • @Vindignatio He smokes weed. Thats why it took such a long time. Also the fact that Gandalf smokes it too means he didnt think about traveling per giant eagle.

  • @Deathowl90 wouldn't the eagle be easily spotted and killed before reaching the target?

  • Lol I wanna be an elf, the glow in the dark!!! :D

  • "it's not working Mr.Frodo i'll nevor get to sleep out here" 2 hours later he is smoring his head off

  • ggrrr this doesnt even happen in the book! Sure they meet elves in the shire but Pippin is with them and they actually speak to them, and they arent leaving middle earth!!!

  • Instead of elves parade, should be gay parade

  • I was seriously thinking frodo was going to say "just shut your mouth"

  • frodo makes me sleepy after 1:08

  • This was in the book, but they stopped and had dinner

  • Sam and Frodo were really high on weed here...

  • this isn't from the extended edition, this is on my regular version (one of the first sold)

  • Wow, I think I would like to watch the extended versions of this film. It would be like watching a whole new movie :D

  • elijah wood is a weird old hermit...

  • whatever sam was cooking looks pretty damn good.

  • maybe they didnt actually see any elves, just smoked a bit too much old toby ;)

  • It's really sad that they can't return to Middle Earth, I love the Elves.

  • Why did they cut from the original movie this wonderful scene?

  • wait a minute.. when frodo noticed the elfs, it was like morning, yet when the march beginns its pitch black night? :D

anyways, the difference between this frodo, in the 1st movie compared to 2nd and 3rd is saddneing :( the ring really did consume him

  • There is such a difference between Frodo here and in the last movie. I hope he regains something of his former self in the lands beyond the sea...

  • 1:00

sam(thinking of his bed and cuddling wit frodo) xD

  • Bombadil aint important, to the quest, but is a good character, like in the game and books :)

  • reis bunların niye alt yazısı yok

  • This part is so 'mushroomy'. By that I mean, its like what you see and feel whilst in the woods on magic mushrooms. Seriously.

  • your can really see from here how much of a change frodo has.

begging he has faith and positive, by the end he dosent sleep, or think positive.

  • i swear all of that was in the original film anyway

  • Why is frodo always trying to get high!

  • @08chazman08 Smoking pipe-weed is something every Hobbit does often.

  • ive only seen the origional cut of the movies, but they are three beautifull movies non the less.

  • "A Galad ren i veniar

    hi' aladhremmin ennorath

    A Elbereth Gilthoniel

ithil nâ thûl, ithil lîn hen"

(O Light to us that wander here

Amid the world of woven trees

    O Elbereth Gilthoniel

Clear are thy eyes and bright thy breath)

  • i thought that frodo annd sam were going a bit gay when they started talking about the comfort of a bed

  • Does anyone know the soundtrack song the elves are singing?...It's beautiful.

  • @SantaCruzSoulSurfer i thinkit's called the passing of the elves :3

  • That is the song of Elbereth. It does not appear on the regular soundtrack, only in the complete recordings of the fellowship of the ring. That son it's writen in quenya "the lenguage of the high elves"

    A Elbereth Gilthoniel

    silivren pennamíriel

    o menel aglar elenath!

    Na-chaered palan-díriel

    o galadhremmin ennorath,

    Fanuilos, le linnathon

    nef aear, sí nef aearon!

A Elbereth Gilthoniel o menel palan-diriel, le nallon

sí di-nguruthos! A tiro nin, Fanuilos!

  • @SantaCruzSoulSurfer "O Elbereth Gilthoniel", Can be found here on YT if you enter "The Passing of the Elves"

  • The problem is the movies put together with all the deleted scenes would last about nine hours. Only people who absolutely love the trilogy would go see it that's why they had to cut some out. The third movie would have lasted longer than four hours. I would go see it but not a lot of people can watch a movie for more than 2 hours.

  • @johnlennonismylover the 3 movies with all the scenes in it would last more then 12 hours :P the theater version lasts 9 :P

  • @meesromijn Oh. Well, either way. :). Someone told me that it was nine. Sorry.

  • they're leaving because Master Sauron has awake. :)

  • Elves The best rase of the Middle-Earth ;))

  • Sissies...

    DWARVES FTW !

  • they are dead......

  • "I don't know why -but it makes me sad."

    Me too...

well, not actually sad -but slightly melancholic

  • the series starts and ends with a similar sad event.

ironic how it makes sam oddly sad now and devistates him when his best friend is going on the same trip.

  • man look at that breakfast. imagine the cholesterol

  • @scaurus Aye, but I'm sure the 13 months they spent walking day in and day out to Mordor was sufficient to burn whatever calories they might take in.

  • In the traditional folklore and mythology of the British Isles, elven parades were once a common fey phenomena, with troupes of elves supposedly going from one enchanted hill to another.

  • yummy breakfast at the beggining i want IT!

  • i wish they made this song in here into a full length one!

  • It's in the Comlete Recordings.

  • why did the elves leave? all i know is its the time of man now.

  • They were going back to Valinor, to where the Valar dwell. They all have a longing in their hearts for that land... They all want to go over the sea, cause the Valar called to them, when middle earth was young, and the elves had just seen the light of the stars...

Some of them went over the ocean then, while others decided to stay in middle earth. And, well, the glorious days of the elves has passed, now they are going home:)

  • Yes, but it still makes me sad. :(

  • it was because their power was fading in mid earth, so they returned to their land

  • elves are so noble,so beautiful...and their singing is timeless.

LOTR is a strong trilogy, which shall be never forget....

  • im pretty sure they were high elves in the book

  • lol, flipsy, i was thinking the same thing.

  • same ere nonnie

  • "everywhere i lie theres a big root stickin in my back" somehow i think he wasnt referring to a plant

  • what do you mean?

  • oh the beautiful elves, they always have a bright light glistening off of their bodies lol. i love the elves in LOTR

  • Night Elves are better

  • its a good thing elves live for ever becuase every time you see them in LOTR they are walking really slowly!

  • why should they hurry??? unlike us they stop from the speed that we have today, enjoying and perfecting every little thing

  • @whitelord33 Would be lol to see them running and screeming in slomotion when they see a orc

  • @kertsman2221 They wouldn't run or scream. They'd get a bow and arrow from out of nowhere and shoot the orcs dead long before they even got the chance to lift their filthy swords... :)

  • @Helcaloth agree

  • @kertsman2221 They wouldn't run or scream. They'd get a bow and arrow from out of nowhere and shoot the orcs dead long before they even got the chance to lift their filthy swords... :) and then they'd keep walking, slowly...

  • @mychemicalrelapse Maybe they're so slow cos they have no reason to hurry ; )!

  • @TheFactoryOfLight very true!

  • @TheFactoryOfLight yeap, they didn't knew yet what is going on in Isengard. If they knew that Saruman bread an army of bloodthirsty, light immune Uruk-hai hordes armed with plate armor that could smash and burn through the lands of Eriador in a blink of an eye they wouldn't act so cool.

  • @ZigfriedFonLicken That's exactly why their takling the ships. Chickens!

  • @ZigfriedFonLicken The elves, when it comes to war, are the most disciplined armies of the free peoples. And Orcs and Uruk-hai are afraid of them

  • @mychemicalrelapse ROFLMAO

  • @mychemicalrelapse they are imortal u know. Alot of time to waste ;D

  • @mychemicalrelapse. Well they really are a bunch of pussies who don't do much of anything in this day and age. They apparently have no shame when it comes to avoiding or surrendering to any conflict what so ever. I always imagine them as French.

  • @0rch0l0d3s

    Just fuck you.

  • @0rch0l0d3s French hahahahah, yeah Elves in the past did a lot of important things, but most of the Third Age elves are quite cheesy and try to avoid conflicts.

  • @mychemicalrelapse That's why they walk slowly..... 'Cause they have all the time in the world! LOL!

  • @mychemicalrelapse yup, even when they go to battle, lol

  • how come they can not return to middle earth it makes me so sad knowing that

  • they should have added some of these back stories, Frodo is so much more enjoyable this way

  • When all the elves have gone to Aman, Middle-Earth will be like our world. It is pointless for the other races - except humans- to exist without the elves.

  • i agree witout the elves aruman wouldve dominated them all long ago cuz honestly everyone else in middle-earth are pretty greedy corrupt and selfish

  • What is this song called... playing in the background??

  • they dont show much of mirkwood only legolas

  • they should have included this in the film

and they should have included the whole thing with the exile elves and Gildor...

  • They only had enough time to concentrate on the interminable Aragorn-Arwen love story. Not so bad in the first film, but butchered The Two Towers!

  • I agree there are a lot of cool scenes they could have included instead of those endless scenes of aragorn and arwen seriously there are a lot of cool scenes that are very short like gandalf vs witch king, eowyn vs the orc general even faramir and eowyn scene would have been better to give it more varied romantic scenes,I mean come on I own the DVDS and whenever a scene of romance between aragorn and arwen start I skip it not always because the actress is hot.

  • True. What about Gildor Inglorien,Farmer Maggot,Tom Bombadil,The Old Forest, The Barrow Downs. Why Arwen, not Glorfindel.I understand some editing, due to time restraints, but to slash half of the story and then insert new scenes smacks of arrogance. The Two Towers suffered most from this.

  • i totally agree with not having Tom Bombadil in the movie. Hes an AWESOME character. hes like really important too :(

  • Tom Bombadil is not important for Lotr fabula. He is important for middle earth, that is why they did not want to spend time on him. Maybe they mention him in some documentary about middle earth, but surely not in 3h film.

  • @yummeeceline But his scenes alone would've made the movie 40 minutes longer. Honestly dude you can't transition everything from book to screen.

  • @codafett yeah i understand, the movie was still awesome :)

  • @yummeeceline I was glad Bombadil wasn't included. It was too fairy taley and it didn't really fly with the rest of the book imho. I cannot understand why he should be significant.

I would have liked to see Glorfindel though. The more elves the better.

  • @Sasheenka Oh, I just really liked his character and the part he played in the story; thats just how I feel about it :)

  • @Sasheenka there was a tiny bit with glorfindel at the end of ROTK but not many ppl noticed it was him

  • @yummeeceline It would have been nice but it would make the movie more cheesy, he just pops up in small occasions has nothing to do with the story, it would be even more harder to make the movie. Peter's lucky that he didn't add Tom Bombadil because if he did the movie probably wouldn't have been as perfect as it is already.

  • @yummeeceline Not everyone thinks that he's important for the book, but he's rather belongs in a separate story, as intriguing as he is. But I still like him, his storyline shows Frodo's bravery for the first time.

  • OK... I have to say, that The most powerful living is: Iluvatar! Why? Well, he created Middle-Earth!!!!! He is GOD!

  • LegoLas and Gimli didnt stayed.. they sailed..

  • It wasn't a party- they were leaving for the Grey Havens.

  • party? dude wtf? its parade. they leaving middle earth

  • I think they mean a party (group) of elves...

  • that...was...BEAUTIFUL!

  • question where is all this info coming from the books cause i havent read them looks like i do

  • The books and the other books not pertaining to the War of the ring.

  • brings me to tears... :(

  • I have not read the books so I am looking for someone wise to tell me why the elves are leaving middle earth?

  • Elves were one of the first how would I say, race created in middle earth. The first was dwarves by the way and they were not suppose to be made. Anyway the Elves are special for they are immortal and they also have no free will. Basically unlike men, They cannot choose to be evil they are like robots. So they are leaving because they have no resaon to stay. They went to valinor with the Valor to live with them. The Valor are the creatures that created middle earth.

  • did legolos go as well?

  • he did later on. he went to valinor with gimli because of the strong friendship they developed. he was the only dwarf to be granted permission to enter the blessed lands

  • you don't see anymore dwarfs than Gimli in the film anyway

  • lol Yup. They'd rather mine precious metals and gems all day. Most of them are concentrated in Erebor since Moria has fallen anyway. That wasn't even intended as an offensive thing towards dwarves, it's just pretty much true. However, there is a northern war going on in which the elves and dwarves are fighting alone, so a lot of them are probably tied up there rather than running around on adventures elsewhere.

  • did you get all your information from the books?

personally, it explains a lot. thanks for the info

  • No prob, I actually first learned about stuff outside the context of the movies from playing Battle for Middle Earth II, in the strategy map where you can conquer various territories. After that, I started looking up different stuff. But the expansion to BFME2 is all about the war in the north against Angmar. I can't say for sure since all of my sources are either direct from the game or the Internet, but it's all probably from a book or Tolkien's notes, as I doubt EA is allowed to make it up.

  • the first race created were the elves made by Eru (Iluvatar) itself not the dwarves. an the elves were not robots as josh2434 says... there were a lot of wise elves (Galadriel ,Cirdan ,Finarfin - he fought against Morgoth the first dark lord the equivalent of satan) and the elves were also very skillful many of their powers were considered by men as magic. the elves which were transformed into orcs were mostly avari (elves which have not seen the light of laurelin and telperion)

  • also the elves returned to valinor because the valar (powerful spirits equivalent of saints) called them back. some elves in the past abandoned the march back to valinor and remained on middle earth. the wisest elves were the noldor a part of the elves "tree" from which Galadriel was coming from.

also during the third age - was confirmed - Galadriel was the most powerful being on middle earth because of her power and because of nenya ,her ring.

  • so the elves were not robots... they were thw most beutiful race on earth and the wisest. morgoth itself called them "eldar" = people born under the stars (Galadriel was oftenly called "Queen of Stars")

  • I wouldn't say Galadriel is the most powerful being in middle earth. She was more powerful then Sauron of course but not morgoth. All the fights that the elves had to defeat Morgoth remeber? :D. Oh and don't forget Tom Bobadil he was extremly remeber his regard as to what would happen if Sauron and him fought in an open battle? By the way Morgoth=Valor Valor>elves Its cool thanks for some of the corrections though.

  • oh yep youre right i hav firgotten to write this thing about morgoth... thanks for the correction :D

  • I doubt that Galadriel was even as powerful as Gandalf- remember, Galadriel was an elf, but Gandalf was a Maia, just like Saruman and Sauron. Plus, he had his own ring of power- Galadriel had Nenya, and Gandalf had Narya.

  • Comment removed

  • He had a ring of power?

Well the 9 Human rings were used by the ringwraiths, 7 dwarf ones were accounted for or destroyed

The film showed the 3 Elf-Lords get the rings, and I don't think Gandalf was any of them..

I'm not saying he didn't have one but I don't think he was (at least the original owner) of any of those rings of power

  • Gil-galad died, and gave his ring to Elrond.

    Galadriel had her ring.

And Cirdan gave his ring to Gandalf when he arrived in Middle Earth.

Watch the Grey Havens scene again, and look for a red ring on his finger.

  • Ahhh I see Thanks for clearing that up for me :)

I always assumed the blonde elf in that scene was Thranduil (or at least some Mirkwood elf). Dunno why xD

  • no wizards were ever in possesion of any rings, that were binded to the ring of power

  • Gandalf wore the Eleven ring of Power named NARYA

  • Tom Bombadils power is never stated. It just says he's old. The ring has no effect on him, and he can see its effects on others. Gandalf said that if they gave the ring to Tom, he'd forget about it.

Also he says that if the rest of the world fell, Tom would quickly follow. He can only exist as long as there is good in the world.

  • i've never read the books, who's Tom Bombadils?

  • He protects the hobbits when they are in the old wood from an attack of Barrow Wights..

It's hard to explain, but he is a good guy xD

  • It is not because of that.. Do not be an ignorant :/
