  • 1/3 of north koreas citizens will be gona in 20 years, starvation is a huge factor, and also a possible war with the south and the US

  • N. Korea doesn't need to worry about destroying the U.S. with atomic weapons. The U.S. is quickly becoming a banana republic & if the long-legged mack daddy is re-elected, attacking the U.S. will be the same as attacking China, because China will own the U.S. lock, stock & barrel.

  • Long live the DPRK!

  • inception

  • what car brands are the cars in the video? would be interesting.

  • Kim Jung Il, the worst dictator in the worst next to Ho Chi Minh

  • @TangTuyetMinh Yeah but don't forget Stalin's up there with em.

  • Wow!!!

    Manhattan should envy this traffic!

    XD

  • It's almost like you're driving through a film set. This city looks very eerie and very depressing..

  • id rather watch paint dry on a wall.

  • Probably the only place in Pyongyang where's lots of trees O_o and buildings with some color. Well that's nice

  • no worry about traffic jams

  • Did i see a MITSUBISHI car?

  • Such a beautiful country. If only it was free..

  • Looks more desirable than Karachi or Kabul or Cairo or Calcutta.

  • To be honest,I expected less cars =/

  • @mate0807 That's what I call western propaganda.

  • everybody gets a very cheap bus ticket or can buy a car. this was here like this too

  • Very Europeanized architecture in my opinion. A lot like the typical communist architecture in GDR, Poland, CSSR or the Soviet Union.

Reminds me of the time I first visited East Germany with my parents in 1989

  • SimCopter One reporting heavy traffic.

  • WAIT A MINUTE... since when did they let you take videos in North Korea? Simply being caught in posession of a handphone with a camera function is enough for them to forcibly "deport" you!

  • @Nelsonwmj Not really. They're just very specific about certain motives, for instance statues or portraits of the leader. Pyongyang is their "show city", the city of the elite. You can photograph just about anything and your minders won't care. Out in the countryside however, that's a different potato. There a foreigner on the loose with a camera could be a propaganda disaster.

  • looks like 80's POland

  • At least driving to work is without traffic jams :D

  • two interesting things:

    1) No traffic lights... they do it the old fashion way with ppl signaling the traffic

    2) what kind of bus is this? it doesn't seem to stop to let anyone off or on!

  • LEGO WORLD !

  • the people you see are just robots and actors trying to fool us!

  • I saw old czech buses, russian trolleybuses and also trolleybuses based on czech buses. There are a lot of trams from czech there too. I would like to know where and how they buy parts and fix them..

  • @WRCExpert they dont fix anything thats y they dont want you to see them

  • The streets are large in good condition almost empty and the driver is a speed maniac, going at 90Km/hr inside the town passing by police officers while having a problem at one of the bus wheels -u may hear it

  • Where are the people?

In concentration camps, licking the ass of the Dear Leader, just not out in the streets.

  • nice city!!!! no traffic!! large roads and many green!!!

  • Whatever. This place looks like a dump. I will take American urban sprawl any day of the week, over this pre-fabricated ghost town.

  • pretty city, MUCH MORE INTERESTING THAN A LOT OF VERY SHITTY AMERICAN CITIES WHERE THE MAIN THING TO SEE AROUND IS THE MALL AND THE GIGANTIC UGLY SUBURBIA!

  • @TheYaom

you would live in any city/town/village in the usa over downtown pyongyang anyday so shut up child.

  • beatiful city

  • is this like rush hr? where are all the people? whats the population?

  • at least there's no traffic in pyongyang lol

  • The street is empty because not many North Korean can afford to own a car. No many pedestrians around because they don't have many shopping centers and commercial activities is very limited. You won't see homeless people in the street because Pyongyang is propaganda city.

  • @kkteow the goverment is a hollow shell they got no seoulllllllll!! : D

  • @MultiSinoda love the pun

  • i wander where all the starving people are? Like the americans say, u can´t see none.

  • Pyongyang seems to be a pretty city, shame that the country is how it is.

  • this is a country for crazed communist

    and fuck the usa

  • there are people on the streets in stead of traffic lights???

  • but i am also wondering how did you get to record from the very front of the bus? was this not a public bus ride, or just a bus ride with someone you knew? cos' on the public buses here you aren't supposed to stand that close.

  • there isn't really any pedestrians in my video either and there aren't homeless people either.

  • На 1:09 мимо проезжает русская Газель. Забавно.))

  • 0:57

    my house.

  • but communism is just like a hermit government peoples have less or no freedom, how can you feel that you are a species if you don't have freedom?

  • hmmmm......nice streets than shitty america

  • @Flamingos40 its all an illusion. every where they went was nice because thats the impression they want to give. all the poor people live in secluded areas behind the big tall buildings and apartments. outsider are forbidden to see them.

  • The USSR was a world dominating SUPERPOWER. It could afford to upkeep its quality of life, its military empire and its ideology due its vast amounts of resources and money. The North Koreans are trying to emulate that, but they have no money, so its just an illusion, created to impress.

  • whats it like petitsammy?? why is there not many people walking the streets? are they actually starving??

  • One day, North Korea will be free. Then those people will enjoy the same standard of living like the South Koreans.

  • @Maturion THE USA WILL BE BANGED? IT IS GOOD FORTUNE?

  • I bet many of those massive buildings are unpopulated. Reminds of City 17 from Half life 2.

  • I ask me one thing: If they have Shortage of electricity, how the Trolleybusses cut work so regular like in this footage ?

  • No worries about traffic accidents in Pyongyang. Because there hardly IS any traffic. You could rip through the streets on a GS1100 or something ridiculously fast and probably have no worries at all.

*slaps traffic girl on butt as he rides by*

  • rush hour!

  • Looks like rush hour.....A dead city...

  • at least you never get jammed in the traffic!

  • oh wow wait wait

so instead of traffic lights they only have traffic ladies at every intersection?

  • @toaotou they have traffic lights but they don't work because of electricity shortage so they have traffic ladies there

  • @toaotou Yup theres quite a few videos of them up on Youtube

  • the whole city is just so quiet lol

  • The place looks a bit creepy.

  • I want to take a shit right next to kim jong ills statue

  • @AngryLlamaz

    Or piss on his toes..

  • @AngryLlamaz *Kim Il Sung.

  • @AngryLlamaz ummm u sure u really wanna mess with kim jong ill???

  • @AngryLlamaz ME TOO

  • @AngryLlamaz

    LOL. go for it mate

  • This place is awesome.I went there on june 2009

  • I can't believe that the fact that this country is so anti-USA and Japanese, on this video you can see there's Two Toyota Land Cruisers and one Mitsubishi Pajero on their road. It's funny, because they hate the japanese yet again having japanese cars on their roads. This is really some weird country, the only thing thats good about this place is that the road is really wide and almost no traffic.

  • The whole country is a Nazified Twilight Zone...this is the most traffic I have ever seen on the roads there, the whole driving population must have been ordered to drive pass the bus.

  • Does traffic travel on the right side of the road in Korea or is that simply unique to N. Korea?

  • they hardly have traffic :))

  • "paradise on earth"? yeah this is a paradise of NOTHING but losers and brainwashed idiots.

  • @MK2WiseGuy give me a break the USA is a shithole too filled with stupid brainwashed fat asses and shopping malls where people go to kil lthe depression and boredom of living in AmeriKKKa!

  • @TheYaom

yes, we can do whatever we want, we are not slaves, you are correct, lol

  • kim jong il is a fat ugly loser who doesnt even like himself. kim il sung was a pathetic scumbag

  • I wanna visit Pyongyang!!! There is almost no traffic!!

  • Indeed, the Juche Idea solves traffic jams!!

  • @Kennychan222 So do I! That would be amazing in a western city!

  • Very interesting thing I noticed on this video that there are expensive crossovers on the streets.

  • what was your impression of this scenery?

  • I thought in North Korea, there is almost no traffic. Apparently, there is the fact, or it was just the senior party functionaries.

  • Welcome...to city 17!

  • It looks like time machine 1930s.

  • the lack of pedestrians walking the streets is eerie. but then again, if you were starving, it's better not to waste energy

  • 車子好少!

  • all u ppl who think pyongyang is beautiful and shit is stupid. North korean governments are all faggots and give koreans no rights at all. and the faggot president kim jong il dosent do shit about a famine thats happening in north korea instead he denies theres a famine going on.

  • It is so clean. No graffiti, no junk, no bilboards and no traffic jams. Just a paradise for many Europeans! But I realize that my opinion is based on short glimpse. I newer was there, but I am ineterested about it. And I wouldn't like to live in so poor and isolated country.

  • yes, it is clean, nice, and neat.. But dosn't it seem like something out of the fucking twilight zone? Its probably the middle of the day, downtown, and thers only a hand-full of cars passing by.. No people, its tooo quiet. Most people cannot even afford a car i N Korea.. Alone, 1.1 million people have died of starvation in N. Korea. Yes, perfect, quiet capital to live in, but its just an illusion..

    Cheers :)

  • Nie zczailem, ze jestem Polakiem.. :D

No, w kazdym badz razie, pozdro!

  • Ano, po polsku też śmiało można ;)

    Dzięki za odpowiedź. Również pozdrawiam

  • It's clean and there is no junk, because there is nothing to litter or junk. People are so poor that they will waste nothing. And doesn't it seem strange there are so many huge concrete buildings, but they can't afford to put up stoplights?

  • They can afford stoplights. The government can afford anything they want. It's the citizens that can't (lots of rich people in pyongyang, however)

  • The communism sometime will be everywhere and there will be an all it is good.)))

  • Wow nice traffic flow. You'd always be able to speed on the roads and heck care about others.

  • its so calm and peaceful in pyongyang....everything seemed tobe in correct order... just like in prison

  • Prisons have no order at all, it seems you've never been there.

  • I have a solution to all the bottle neck traffic jams in North Korea, everybody just stay home.

  • Keine Neger in der Stadt.

  • But the city is very beautiful. No black people no Drugs and fightning. So wonderful and nice. Who doesn't like to live there ????

  • ya, quite city

but how can live there if hungry everyday

  • wow, the city is actually not that bad, at least its not all slums.

  • they keep up the city the best they can, because it is the only place tourists are allowed. The rest of the country is dirt poor. In fact, the current generation is called stunted generation because the children are malnourished and can not grow up to full height. And still in the city you can see that people have no cars, the roads are old, the landscaping is not up kept, trees are not trimmed.

  • There were no traffic light.!.

    Smooth drive.

  • and no much cars... sounds like driving in outskirt of Baghdad 1991 during the gulf war

  • It is indeed clean and beautiful...but Pyongyang is the only city in North Korea with a pop > 300K. That's sad, really.

  • The city is supposedly a pre-made look good presentation for the limited tourists that get allowed into the country...

It does look like a beautiful place though...

    Every rose has it's thorn..

  • Under communism everything is clean!!!

  • Clean? Lol, a poor country. I wonder if they have a choice to drink coca-cola and if they have internet access. I would welcome you to ussr in the late 70-80th, you would see the same picture. That shitty place looks like ussr looked that time. It's all illisions that it is good to live there, noone can buy a car (or two? lol).

  • You are mistaken friend. I was born in Budapest, Hungary and to tell you the truth I do remember how it was here under 40 years of hardcore communism. The western influence did not take us into the right direction at all! Yeah we have Mc Donalds, Burger King, Mercedes Benz, everything, but who cares? Along with this we have corruption, maffia, cheating and lying, the so called "golden" western influence. Under communism everything was clean and in order, now the streets are dirty and is chaos!

  • communism had just as much corruption, and now it's all because you've voted for social programs with high taxes and government regulation that breed corruption by giving people tax dollars to steal.

  • true lol n koreas a shit hole!!!

  • @johnson2324 Actualy you're wrong, i was born and lived in the USSR. IT LOOKS LIKE THE USSR BACK IN THE 1970'S BECAUSE THAT'S HOW MUCH N.kOREA IS LAGGING BEHIND THE REST OF THE WORLD. The 1970's was the golden era of the USSR. In Moscow there would constantly be traffic jams, hundreds of thousands of pedestrians going about their daily lives. Food stalls on every corner with realy cheap food, everything was paid for by the government, and people lived happy fullfilling lives.

  • @123ATOM321

what happened to the ussr again? lol

  • Yeh right,Do you remember how it was like in Poland?

  • "hah but plenty of people left starving."

    Er..the homeless generally eat less.

Free? Democratic? HA! Yes because someone with different political views is obviously spoiled and unappreciative. If this is a "democratic" society then quit whining. I have a right to say what I damn well please about North Korea. Why is it that you have to move to a country to like it? My family's lived in the same country for years and at least geographically it's nice.

  • ¿Donde esta la gente muriendose de hambre?

  • Thank you so much for sharing this video, its beautiful.

  • well, its clean and beautifull.

    street are wide.much sonshine.

but the biggest problem ist in northkorea people has nothing to eat.

  • for sure empty of any ads billboards !!

    ;)

  • @ThoughtPoliceman1984 in america they have shelters and work and food, in north korea the streets are emtpy because the people are forced to work and disabled are sended to camps such as yodok and camp n. 22 were they get tortured and were chemical/medical experiments are made on them. search yodok on wikipedia if you dont believe.

  • @ThoughtPoliceman1984 you've really let them brain wash you like they have their own people havent you?

  • @ThoughtPoliceman1984 What about the old houses hidden by the buildings. It's only a facade Both US and North Korea are going down. The only difference is that NK hide its starving citizens.

  • @PhilFilth Trust me - North Korea will still be ok and around in 20 years, while the US will collapse!!!

  • @ussrwrestling that is certainly a thing we must consider as possible.

  • @ussrwrestling If by ok means letting your people starv to death and live by THE RULES OF THE GREAT LEADER. It makes me sick your comment.

  • @lifetech2 At least his comment makes sense

  • @dabeshu Its good at that but not much else.

  • @Professor6871 Even if you had lived there before, I'm sure you were just one of the citizens. It's probably like living in a goddamn amusement part 24/7

  • @ussrwrestling north korea pretends to be ok

  • @ussrwrestling we get it.. you live in some fkdup country, and you're jealous of how great america is, and how well people live over here.. we never give up and i can assure you that nobody will ever kick us down, look at history and tell me im not right, commie scum....

  • @lintownboy "How great is America"?! Is it in your country that the state debt is now larger than the actual country's economy?

  • @ussrwrestling americas economy is STILL 3 times the size of china, the number 2 economy in the world.. until our country is as ruined and shitty as yours, im gonna enjoy being on top...

  • @lintownboy Nope! It's now just about 1,5 times larger! And China is quickly catching up, while the US is going down!!! In the nearest 5 years China is going to overcome the US by the size of its economy!

  • @ussrwrestling nope its actually 3 times.. but nice try.. and dont say things like its certain.. IF china keeps up its growth and the u.s keeps going down, then yes in about 5 years.. but nobody knows what will happen until then.. and even if they surpass, they can go backwards just as quickly

  • Place looks better than Vientiene, Laos.

  • I wonder if they only allow certain people to work in Pyongyang and then just kick everyone else out. I know they are not communistic, but wouldn't they want "equal opportunity" for everyone. Here they are just saying the a certain elite can work in Pyongyang. Then they give them cars.

Note: I am just 'assuming' this from the so little people in southern Pyongyang. Where are all the people? I guess they got pushed away until the socialists can find a job for everyone. Maybe.

  • this is the best traffic i've ever seen, unlike NewYork traffic

  • I'm celebrating a regime?

Are you on drugs or something? Piss off.

  • ...and you type with broken English, mis-spellings, poor grammar, and criticize MY English?

    You're a joke.

  • Heh, again, your lack of understanding gives you a false perspective.

I'm not in support of North Korea! Moron.

I'm saying that even though the DPRK locks up people for stupid things, the US locks up a higher percent of their people than the DPRK.

Man, if you can't understand basic mathematic concepts and fundamental english, maybe you should post on a more appropriate venue.

  • what a total irrelavant argument...hang yourself in a tree and do your math

  • another swede that doesn't understand percentage vs. control number? Wow, and they say the US education system is lacking.

  • i understand what u are implying, i dont see how thats significant or relevant to this video when u´re comparing a totalitarian regime with concentration camps

and a free society with a somewhat elevated crime rate.

  • What I'm saying is simple; the "free society" has a higher incarceration rate than a totalitarian regime that rules with an iron fist and locks up people for any little thing.

Doesn't sound like a "free society" to me.

  • Look, understanding the difference between a control number and a percentile is fundamental mathematics. If you're having a hard time with this you either A. don't understand mathematics or B. are having a hard time understanding English.

There is nothing "weird" about the concept of percentage.

  • Ok, maybe so, but then you also might be locked up here for nothing at all.

Do you have any idea how many innocent people are locked up and executed here without a shred of evidence or even a trial?

You really do not know what you're talking about.

  • Well, I can forgive the fact that you struggle with English, and as a result aren't able to communicate or understand appropriately on this forum. However, I find fault with the idea that you don't feel that a percentile of people behind bars is an irrelevant concept.

The DPRK may very well incarcerate people for superficial actions, but that's hardly relevant when the US incarceration rate is many times theirs. A broken justice system here locks up many innocent people.

  • I'm not talking about the number of people in prison, it's the PERCENTILE of the population. Idiot.

Now, having cleared that up for you, allow me to point out that even if the DPRK incarcerates every person that has a bad word to say, doesn't worship Kim Jong, or otherwise doesn't commit crime in the traditional sense, they STILL FAIL to lock up the same percentage of their people as we do of ours.

  • Sorry to break this to you, but the United States has a higher percentile of it's own people in prison than DPRK has of theirs.

  • Oh, cool that you took someone else's word about it instead of finding out for yourself.

Have a nice life being the person that is told what is and what isn't.

  • I don't, as I said before, I don't support thier regime.But why do you say that?

  • How would you know? I'm not supporting thier regime, but other than spouting out the bullshit fed to you by CNN, ABC, and Fox News, I was just wondering on what basis do you say that?

  • hahaha, classical western dogmatism ;) But in the end, you have no fucking idea ;)

  • How do you know? Did the "free media" (controlled by big corporations) tell you that? Was it the same media that made you believe in Mass Destruction Weapons in Iraq?

You have no proofs of camps, tortures, and your opinion about their leader is exactly what the western media want you to say.

If you read carefully what I have written I'm not supporting the NK government, just trying to show you the obviously stupid argument you're using. BTW: I was in Pyongyang, it's not empty

  • north korea is very scary,,,but still would like to visit there once,,,cuz it looks like a very big empty city.

  • what about the 4x4 car that can be seen?

  • We all know how bad the leader is and how sad is the situation of most of the population, etc..

can you answer a simple question ?

    Have you been there ?

    Thanks.

  • you cant really say anything neither seeing you only visited the truman show... its the same with indonesia i have visited both tourist spots and spots where they recommend you not to go to same country but a world apart.

  • Come on, it's much more expensive to build good looking buildings in order to keep them empty and show them to the 100 tourists a year NK has, than to build good buildings in order to have people happy, as any government worldwide wants.

NK is not an evil madness, just an isolated country.

BTW: how do you know about priviliged people in NK? Who told you? The same one that told you about an empty showcase city??

  • ddr49, are you actually denying most of those buildings are empty??? How fucking dumb are you??? Do you see many people in the streets dumbass???

  • Yeah, there are people in the streets. The most shocking thing about brainwashed people like you is that, wathever you see, you'll keep on saying the same. Chomsky says that brainwashing is more effective when it is done by a "free press" in "democratic" regimes.

By the way, I was in Pyongyang, you weren't. So don't try to explain me the way Pyongyang is, please.

  • I have heard that Pyongyang is a beautiful, fairly modern city, but that it is eerily quiet for a national capital. People are out and about, but it is nothing like London, Beijing, or Seoul.

  • wow!there's more people in my town!

  • You have been there,I guess !
