The Masa is made with plantains, yautia, potato all grated. There are no bananas. Plantains are in the banana family but by now means is it banana since they are not sweet.
There is no right or wrong way to make foods especially rustic foods. every family and region has different ingredients available and tastes vary. In Hawaii the decedents of the Puerto Rican migrants call Pastelles "Patelles" And no to people make them the same way.

Avemaria asi se acen los pasteles! no chikito q pa uno llenarse hay q comerse como 5 jaja como otros videos q he visto por youtube. Asi mismo los hacemos mami y yo. Hoy los hicimos gracias a Dios. solo q ella cosina el pimieto junto con la carne pero es lo mismo. bregamos con el prenil anoche y hicimos la masa y hoy solo tuvimos q hacer los pasteles. Feliz Navidad y Año Nuevo!
