maybe because its only a 2.0, needs a stroker kit in order to spool the turbo faster so that it can pick up speed faster. Big turbo in a small displacement engine= turbo lag on the early rpms. Big turbo + 2.3 stroker kit plus fine tuning = faster spool. and a gt37r turbo is pretty big.
What if you used a built 2.3 liter new engine block with a 2.3 liter stroker kit? If that's possible, I'm not sure. Would that be good, or fast with good acceleration and response? Cuz' that's what I'm planning to do, but I don't know if it works together or not.
is there even a 2.3 l crank? a 2.3 liter block with a 2.3 liter crank is not a stroker. a stroker is a smaller displacement with a bigger crank thus giving the motor an extra stroke from the bigger crank. 2.3 liter with a 2.4 crank from the 4g64 suv motor is a stroker. go research hks red hipermax ct230r evo 8 time attack car, thats the setup you need. unless your goal is hitting high numbers on the highway then you need a gt42r or an t88.
There's a 2.3 liter crank. I wasn't saying that a 2.3 block with a 2.3 stroke makes a stroker kit, I was saying would it make more power when a 2.3 block is working with a 2.3 liter stroker kit. I know what a stroker kit is. I've done my research.
honesty i have no clue about that setup, my guess would be that since its a 2.3 crank it probably wont spool as fast as the 2.4 but it will definitly have more top end power. 2.4 will have a better response at low rpms, but the 2.3 will take the top end, or at least better than the 2.4. thats why people combine the two elements, 2.3 block with a 2.4 crank = close enough perfect blended stroker engine. not the ultimate but good enough.
how are some people so dumb.. you dont want a stroker kit on this car, with a turbo you need high revving motor= more exhaust flow = more spool topend and thats exactly what turbo cars are built for
actually, it depends on the setup you want. yes a high revving turbo setup is good, but only for the drag strip (brent rau, 2.0 eclipse gsx 6.9 sec). if youre talkin more of street racing then the best option is 2.4 with big turbo, especially if your speciality is highway runs. imagine 2 evos at the same hp with the same turbo kit but one has a 2.4 motor and the other with a 2.0. would you really pick the 2.0?
i know this because 2 of my friends have this setup. but the diference is one is 2.0 with gt4088r at 600+, and the other is 2.4 with gt35r at 550hp. they are equal on the highway all the way up to 160+ hp. and also why you think AMS fastest evo is a 2.3? .....................and racr4lyfe, the 2.3 setup is a 2.0 with a 2.4 crank.
yea but see.. that will last about a year until you throw a rod, if you know the dynamics of stroking a motor it puts alot more stress on a motor and eventually will lead to failure.. look at chris' black evo he wasnt even reving that high above stock and he threw a rod.
AMS drag evo used a 2.1 and it wasnt a stroke that was from changing the bore
ok.. i just looked back at amsperformance and youre right, ams drag evo is a 2.1. idk that much about the problems of chris' evo so im not gonna say much about his car. but i do know that if considering what you've explained and everything else mentioned, it still comes down to whats your racing goal. drag: 2.0... curcuit/touge: 2.3... street: 2.4.. and that 2.4 is a solid 2.4 block from a galant, its not a stoker. i say 2.3 for circuit because of hks hipermax evo, also ams TA evo.
Yes I would and I actually did. My Fully built high revving 35r Evo is no joke on the street or highway. And when it gets too laggy for any given race, a 50 shot of nitrous on tap alleviates that a bit. Its all personal preference....
My goal is 700awhp at some point. I don't think I will get there. Right now i'm at 595awhp on a conservative safe tune. I have broken so many things that fixing shit gets old. I've dropped so much cash into my Evo, it makes me sick when I think about it.....

OK, thanks. I'll keep that in mind when I'm building my Evo 9 up.

agreed, nitrous does help with the lag but yea, like you said its all personal preference and whats your goal. all turbo or anything goes.
