After watching all of those disgusting videos of Koreans, Chinese and Japanese torturing octopus, and other creatures before they eat them (like dunking living creatures in boiling water or putting them on a grill), it's refreshing to see people with a more humane attitude. I would have done the same by trying to help that octopus stranded on the beach, though I think he might have been a little too far gone.

Leave it alone. When the males mate they die, the females rear young then die once the eggs are fully hatched. The ink was a defence mechanism to indicate stress levels. It was no doubt a male that found a location to decease.
