QUE BONITO TOCAS ESE PIANO, PABLO. TE FELICITO. Y TE DIGO QUE MOZART ES MI COMPOSITOR FAVORITO, Y TU TIENES EL HONOR DE TOCAR ESTE CONCIERTO TAN PRECIOSO.......UNA OBRA DIGNA DE MOZART Y UNA INTERPRETACION DE UN BUEN MUSICO...... FELICIDADES.
This pianist , Orchestra, and piano even though it is a Steinway sound mediocre at best . It is hard to listen to after one has heard the Cleveland Orchestra and Casadeus or Entremont or Ax or Watts etc.,
No orchestra or pianist I have ever heard comes close to The Cleveland Orchestra and Robert Casadesus performing this including the way the piano sounds here.
The enchanting melody of Mozart has the ability to heal psychological wounds. Each time his finger touches the clavier, water-colored memories cross my mind. His sincere personal character seems to shine through in a sensitive performance.
Yes, the timing is challenging. That's why if you are able to play on top of different recordings and be able to follow the orchestra, you will feel much more comfortable.
Yes, Brahms 2nd Concerto is definitively in my plans but I am not sure yet when it will become a reality.
Thank you and thanks to all the other visitors as well, who have left nice comments and even some recommendations...
Practicing a concerto with orchestra is challenging because obviously you don't have the orchestra with you every day but you need to think about the end result when you work in the piano part.
One simple thing that helps is to play in the piano some of the orchestra parts while you study so that in your mind you can keep the conceptual continuity. Also trying to play on top of some recordings can give you helpful information.
@parencibia Ever try Music Minus One? I have it for this concerto and Beethoven's 5th concerto. Your timing has to be impecible but I find it really helps.
Muchas gracias a todos por los comentarios. Me alegro de que esta música sea grata incluso para quienes no son asiduos de la música clásica, eso tiene un valor especial.
Definitively there are many great musicians in Venezuela, unfortunately many unknown.

This is called a "fermata". It was a very common practice in the classic period to include small additions in certain passages where the music is paused. Improvisation was much more common in the XVIII century than nowadays in classical music. For example, if you look for different versions of the second movement of this concerto, you will find many added trills and other ornaments.
Yes, this piano sounded a bit sharp in some areas of the keyboard. In fact, this particular piano is not being used anymore for concerts because it requires major reconstruction. It was a magnificent piano in other times. Rubinstein in person signed it because he was cautivated because of its sound.

The first note of this cadenza is OUT OF RANGE of Mozart's piano. Not good. Just saying.

You and Andrea Bocelli should get together. Let me know when that happens.

Oh and by the way, you play this so well. You are actually my first choice when I specifically want to listen to this concerto. Well done!

Hi Pablo,
Once again it's still a pleasure to hear you playing. I was wondering how do you practice a all concerto with orchestra. Do you have any tips?
Thanks again.

Don't think there's anything provincial about this ensemble. Venezuela has one of the most highly developed classical music cultures in the world.

This was a great performance. But the trill that opens was awful, it is scored as an A and all I heard was B.
Also, when the piano takes up the fugette like theme that the strings start with it should be staccato.
jezmuff 2 years ago
Why pianists plays some pasages before first trill? In Peters Etidion there's no pasages. Only trill
I don't know what's this

A very nice performance.
I really like your playing. I don't like the piano though... it's too sharp. I'd like to hear you playing it on a more round piano.
It's just a personal preference though. :)
So, keep it up. I wish I could play like this (too lazy etc etc )
