HPI certainly wasted a lot of time producing this..!

The only good thing that came from it was the 24mm hub conversion. This meant you could throw a set of Baja wheels on your Savage X/XL with some minor mods to the XL (you need to change drive shafts on the X). It is a little more solid than the new conversion kit available..... however, you do lose the wider wheelbase that comes with the XL.

Thanx HPI... now how about concentrating on making a better pipe for the XL..!!!

they really should have called it the Nitro Baja 4wd ...or the Ravage 4wd(race+savage=Ravage)...stic­king the god like savage name on this was not a good Idea. I guess hpi was not thinking ...although I am interested in this if the price is right...the baja 5t is way over priced ..that truck should fetch 950 like the 5b not 1300 thats too much

kiz, they are going to sell it after its been tested properly, bracing for the big space where the twin tanks sit, just a mock up, 3.5 mm chassis tvps,23 mm hexs to be fitted and bead lock baja rims, but it will have to survive the jumping, bashing, racing tests first, time will tell there are 5 prototypes out there for testing i believe

Thanks for the info. I was really hoping they would abandon it. It's just not right trying to extend the savage layout to 5th scale, it doesn't work. It's cheap and I am disappointed in HPI. :( I've been waiting for an HPI 4x4 5th scale ever since the 5b first surfaced. This isn't how I imagined we would see it. What a shame.
