I just played this and a seagull entourage together and I honestly liked the entourage with the ding in the sound board more (not a knock against the sws it was my second favorite guitar of the day, just gotta give credit to seagull), put it on hold hope I stop being scared and buy it soon.
@03artbz I have this exact guitar (w/cutaway) and it is a member of SMS (solid wood series). The identification label states; (MARITIME SWS CW SG QI) The documention also states this model is SWS. I purchased mine at Guitar Center. For the money, i think it sounds great. It comes with TUSQ saddle, Godin Q1T electronics. Guitar Center represents this as a solid wood guitar. Those are the facts as i know them.It would be interesting to find definative evidence one way or the other.
To respond to a few who seem confused, as I was, this IS a Seagull Maritime in a Cutaway, but it is ONLY available in the USA through Guitar Center (in-store--they don't even list them on their website). However, I emailed Seagull for the specs, and even though it is a part of the Maritime line, it is NOT a part of the SWS (Solid Wood Seris) which means the top is solid spruce, but the back and sides are LAMINATED mahogany. The one poster said he had one that was SWS, but the one I found wasn't!
@03artbz That's odd, I just bought one myself from GC and the sales reps, as well as the SWS sticker on the headstock lead me to believe it IS all solid wood. I even checked myself - the grain on the inside of the back is EXACTLY the same as the outside. This means that it could not be a laminate, as laminates by nature are layers of wood arranged in OPPOSING grain for strength. I don't think Seagull was lying to either of us, but they may have believed that you meant another model.
Which stands for solid wood series-cutaway-semigloss-QI pickups
Got mine at GuitarCenter Boston, the guy said they made them exclusively for GuitarCenter so it's probably a limited run. I love mine, grab one if you can fine it, great buy
I can get a new seagull maritime with Q1 pickup system for a little less then $450 or I can get a gibson hummingbird for $2600 :o what do you think im going to get?
i don't think that's a maritime... if it is it's rare... i have been looking for a maritime cutaway and it is nowhere to be found... if you know where it is please post a link...
@froz3nbran3s Have you really listened to the two guitars? The Seagull has a pretty tone but lacks the dynamics and power of the Hummingbird. Listen to the strumming part of the presentation thru a good headset and you will probably find a big difference... I´m not a typical Gibson guy but the Hummingbird is an extremely good strummer.

The Seagull website shows 4 types of guitars in the Maritime series. Non of them are cut-aways. What's the deal with this one?

Gotta go to a guitarcenter store, they didn't have mine on the guitarcenter website or even the seagull site

C'est étrange qu'elle ait un pan coupé, la série MARITIME sur le site SEAGULL n'en a aucune avec pan coupé dans cette série... Je ne comprends pas :(
