This was one of my favorite picture books growing up. I still have it on my bedside table and I read it whenever I need some comforting. I feel like it represents the love I felt in my childhood, and now that I am one month away from graduating high school and heading off to college soon on the other side of the country, I am extremely nostalgic. I will read this book to my children, and then to my grandchildren.

He cares most about the words because he created them. And using "it" is generic. The story can then apply to either sex.

Wow people are weird. The idea behind the story is that no matter how old you get your mom is always your mom, and the kid is always still the mom's little baby even as an adult. If you don't like his voice, don't listen to it. He read it wrong? It's his book. When you can read a book to kids that they like and want to read to their kids as an adult (this is how it is with me) then I'd say he got the point across quite well.

What's with all the complaints about Robert Munsch reading this story? I love listening to him read his stories. I've read this to my daughter since before she was born. Of course I had to change the words to suit the fact that this daddy has a little girl. But she and I still recite it. Last time I was sick she crawled into bed with me and started singing "I love you Forever" to me. Damned if she doesn't know how to make me cry.
