Most of the rural portions of this state vote Republican and support Bush - but they way or primaries and electoral votes work nobody cares - and everyone knows all you have to do is promise to raise the welfare rates to get Philly behind you. The most painful thing that I've ever had to read was the 9/11 Commission Report. You think I like knowing how both parties dropped the ball when it came to securing our borders? As children knew that a gun can kill a man since before we know where "babies come from", but that doesn't prevent 11,000 gun murders a year. It's not just "knowing" that sex without a condom will get you pregnant that solves the problem. What we need is a whole infrastructure of support, available contraceptives, and the lift of the religious dogma that somehow condoms are bad. Many people in the US are interested in bringing democracy to China, Iran etc, so I don't see why people from say, Belgium, wouldn't be interested in seeing democracy (in its full extent) being BROUGHT BACK to the US. Also, American foreign policy influences the whole world, so its normal for people all over to be interested in who'll be next to dictate it

Clinton and Obama have 95% overlap in policies as they are bread-and-butter progressive Democratic ones. The question is how Clinton goes about it and the inherent baggage that goes with a 2nd Clinton presidency. Not to mention that she muddles the waters. Take national security. It's another case of (s)he was for then against. Or healthcare. Her language is focused on mandates whereas Obama's focused on private-public sector partnerships. Obama's clear contrast that Americans can stand behind.

FWIW, if the country wasn't so divided, if we hadn't gone through 2 decades of the same political reel, and if right-wing political currents weren't still so strong, HRC would be a shoo-in. At this point, we can't risk repeat episodes of Clinton v. right-wing years. We need to redefine politics away from right-wing free for all policies benefiting the few to progressive ones that are balanced and fair that serve the interest of all (labor, business, social, moral).

No THAT is a growing sentiment amongst Philadelphia. Most of the rural portions of this state vote Republican and support Bush - but they way or primaries and electoral votes work nobody cares - and everyone knows all you have to do is promise to raise the welfare rates to get Philly behind you. The political climate in Pittsburgh is going cold to democrats post the attempted cigarette bans and with the new casinos however.
Pennsylvania will hopefully return to being a red state this year.

Sad thing is that you might be right about what politics is really about in America today. But, isn't that what he's trying so desparately to change?
