@Slimzii93 Mine was a 16. I would say 16 because it's a happy medium. I haven't heard of many people getting 18 tbh I think that might be too small, but I'm not so sure.

@vannahjo100 umm when it's freshly taken out a bit but from a distance it just looks like a freckly. But when it heals not so much. People's bodies heal differently. some have no scar at all, but if you do end up getting a scar it will probably look more like a freckle. at least mine did.

@allenshort400 No, you can't, the reason being, the material it's made of. The clear bars and studs are usually plastic or bioplast, and the reason you should never use them on a new peircings is because they are porous. The plastic has tiny tiny holes in it, and with a new piercing healing and trying to close around the jewlery, your skin will actually grow into these tiny holes, and you'll have to get the bar surgically removed. The clear bars are for when the piercing is fully healed :) sorry

@HernandezA16 You can tell them where you want it placed. Sometimes when it's too low it may affect your gums more. I'm sure you could have it put higher though. My piercer let me show him where to put it.

Mine was 80 bucks to get done, didn't swell, got a BIT red, that was amlost 3 months ago. Gunna go get mine changed today :) Oh and it doesn't hurt very much. like.pinch the back of your hand for like, a millisecond. lol that's how much.
@kasara323 Um for me it didn't really hurt too bad and it was quick. I'd say it was a 3 or 4? Not bad at all. My dad is pretty cool so it wasn't too hard to convince him. I did have to wait a certain period of time though for him to let me. To make sure I was serious about it. I showed him pictures of the piercing also and he thought it was cute. That's it really! :)
@yeyaaa21 There are only two types of bars according to my knowledge. A swell bar and a regular bar. Anything that doesn't specify is a regular bar or isn't marked as so is what you should get after the healing process is done. Anything you can buy at body piercing shop would suit just fine.

@BrittanyKitty93 ummm as long as you're sanitary and put it in right away I wouldn't worry about it. but I wouldn't continue to keep taking it in and out until the healing process is finished. there could be a bit of discomfort depending on your body. umm it's not too hard to find the hole but if its not fully healed i could imagine it being a bit sore when you go to put the other one in
first off thanks for posting this video I got my monroe done 5 days ago and I'm having some issues with it and not sure if it is normal ! every morning when i wake up it swollen and im not sleeping on it either ? second my jewlery isnt a ball but more like a jewl kinda looks like a diamond,every time i talk or eat the back is getting caught on my tooth but @ the same time its not long @all its like the jewl is settleing down in the hole . this morning i had to take my toung and put it up
@tiffanyjd82 If there is no pain in your lip I wouldn't worry about the swelling. Your face naturally gets puffy after you wake up :) Does your piercing screw on or is it a push fit? I would probably recommend getting a bigger jewel because it is a common problem for the top to sink in >_<. Hope this helped!
I got mine done about 27 days ago and I changed the rod and ball about 3-5 days ago. Before I did that I got a little pinky white skin flappy thing that was on one half of the rod. My mom thinks it's because of the backing pushing up against my teeth. I keep washing it out with Mouth wash and it didn't sting but it bubbled up like how peroxide would. I just bit off half of it and of course bled a little bit.. is that like the Keloide (spelling?) that you had?

How long would u say the shorter bars are? I just got mine done 3days ago and I know I have a 16gauge but I want to go ahead and purchase new ones so I will have when it's time to change it. Also if anyone else ask...Bactine works great. That's what I used and it's healing fine. Thanks
@ToyaLyn any of the ones you'll buy at a store will be the shorter ones. I don't know exact measurements. They usually only have swell bars when you first get it at the tattoo and piercing place
is bactine good for cleanin? i bought some.. haha and sprayed in on my peircing and some of it like ran down my mouth... well i didnt no it had numbing stuff in it so my mouth was numb for like and hour ahah
@caylaiscool I have never used it personally, I used the salt water spray which i liked. I've heard other people liked bactine though and it worked for them. Sorry I couldn't help more. :/
I've had my Monroe since August 4th of this month. In the video, you mentioned keloids. I was wondering if the lump of skin trying to cover my piercing is a keloid. It doesn't hurt or anything, but it is quite bothersome as it tries to cover my piercing. When I wake up in the mornings, I have to move the piercing around some to avoid having skin cover it.

@lilballerina I read that after you get it you should avoid chewing quickly. I definitely felt mine after i got when I ate and talked too. it wasnt severe though. If its not super irritating i would just not chew fast. and avoid gum especially. at least for a bit. would you consider yourself to have a thin upper lip?
@amalzd Yeah my upper lip is super thin! And actually I ended up taking it out, it looked good but I think it took attention away from my face as a whole so I wasn't into it anymore. Oh well maybe I'll get it re-pierced one day! Thanks for the advice anyway :)

@Chapplefros this happened to me. when it was just swelling I just kept pushing it back into place everytime. Later on I also had a keloid too which grew over my piercing. bit it off and it never came back. it could be one of these two things
I've had my Monroe for four days now and the back is digging into my gums a little. I don't think its making it bleed or anything, but it's kind of uncomfortable. Is that normal?
@EmoMaybe it is normal. it happened to me and I noticed it made my gum receed a little in the spot not too bad just a bit>_< I would get the bar switched as soon as it heals to reduce the chance of it bothering your gums!
@amalzd Thank you! I went to a different place and had them look at it. They pierced it with a standard size labret rather than a longer one =/ so the guy I went to stretched it out to a 14 from a 16 and gave me a 1/2 inch bar instead of the tiny one i had in.

I got mine done on wednesday and yes the bar is annoying as hell. My lips swelled more then anything and the bar is really long it looks dumb. IS it hard to change it your first time??
@XxTiFF08xX umm for me it was because the guy that pierced it for me made sure it wouldn't come lose during the healing process. I would suggest gettting latex gloves for the first time so you can get a good grip on the bar.
@Heartbrakemusic I know right! I tell everyone my ears hurt worse than my monroe and they don't believe me! The bar is pretty annoying especially when the swelling goes down and it starts to hit your teeth >_<

@Khristyinnia The push fit system is simple, you just need to push the post carefully, straight slowly and gently into the labret for a tight fit.they clip in, or "push fit " into the labret and hold tight there. And it will hold strongly enough, but can be removed anytime by holding the disc and pulling out the jewel with enough pressure.

Hey I just got my monroe done 6 days ago and its infected, ive been cleaning it with sea salt, rinsing with sea salt and also doing sea salt soaks for about 3 days now and still its infected, its not sore at all just red and has pus. Please Help should I go and get antibiotics??
yes i am sure i went to my piercer and he told me it was infected and the discharge is kinda like a really light green color and very red around the piercing
i have done it yesterday and ofcourse its swollen and little sesitive...BUT this is my problem..when i eat the damm piercing is stuck between my teeth..(i wanted it not so high but little lower above my lip)...and its hurts cause it pulls the piercing down and also the wound..did you had this? i had more piercings but never above my lip only under..and this didnt happend to them..:(((
@mientjeo4 wow. I can honestly say this didn't happen to me. I would feel it go across my teeth when I ate before I put the new bar in but never what you talk about. umm. I would suggest maybe going back to the person who pierced it. and tell them what's wrong. IT sounds like your bar might be too long. sorry i couldnt help more :(
@mientjeo4 Do you mean stuck on the outer side of your teeth? I got mine a couple of days ago, & my piercing does the same thing when I open my mouth really wide (usually while chewing). It could possibly be becuz you have a small mouth, which is what I have. The bar is long, yes, but it's sort of a one-bar size for most people, so that when you have a smaller mouth, or smaller lips, the bar is longer than it would be if you had a larger mouth or fuller lips.
I have a smal mounth but big lips...i think it is because the piercing is placed to low..just above my lip(i wanted it myzelf)..BUT it is going better now the swelling is less and im getting used to i had it to when i was eating..it will go away BUT you have it a couple of days so the puss thing still is gonna come DO not toch it with youre vingers(i did and it takes longer to heal let youre body do the work)

first off thanks for posting this video I got my monroe done 5 days ago and I'm having some issues with it and not sure if it is normal ! every morning when i wake up it swollen and im not sleeping on it either ? second my jewlery isnt a ball but more like a jewl kinda looks like a diamond,every time i talk or eat the back is getting caught on my tooth but @ the same time its not long @all its like the jewl is settleing down in the hole . this morning i had to take my toung and put it up

@tiffanyjd82 If there is no pain in your lip I wouldn't worry about the swelling. Your face naturally gets puffy after you wake up :) Does your piercing screw on or is it a push fit? I would probably recommend getting a bigger jewel because it is a common problem for the top to sink in >_<. Hope this helped!

I got mine done about 27 days ago and I changed the rod and ball about 3-5 days ago. Before I did that I got a little pinky white skin flappy thing that was on one half of the rod. My mom thinks it's because of the backing pushing up against my teeth. I keep washing it out with Mouth wash and it didn't sting but it bubbled up like how peroxide would. I just bit off half of it and of course bled a little bit.. is that like the Keloide (spelling?) that you had?

so i have been bugging my dad about letting get me to do it and he finally said yes if i clean my room. but hes thinking it hurts your teeth and gums in some way... so, do u think it hurts your teeth?

@fairiesproduction They are known to erode your gums a bit. Especially if you don't take out the swell bar.

How long would u say the shorter bars are? I just got mine done 3days ago and I know I have a 16gauge but I want to go ahead and purchase new ones so I will have when it's time to change it. Also if anyone else ask...Bactine works great. That's what I used and it's healing fine. Thanks

@ToyaLyn any of the ones you'll buy at a store will be the shorter ones. I don't know exact measurements. They usually only have swell bars when you first get it at the tattoo and piercing place

is bactine good for cleanin? i bought some.. haha and sprayed in on my peircing and some of it like ran down my mouth... well i didnt no it had numbing stuff in it so my mouth was numb for like and hour ahah

@caylaiscool I have never used it personally, I used the salt water spray which i liked. I've heard other people liked bactine though and it worked for them. Sorry I couldn't help more. :/

I've had my Monroe since August 4th of this month. In the video, you mentioned keloids. I was wondering if the lump of skin trying to cover my piercing is a keloid. It doesn't hurt or anything, but it is quite bothersome as it tries to cover my piercing. When I wake up in the mornings, I have to move the piercing around some to avoid having skin cover it.

I got mine done yesterday and it's really annoying when I try and talk with it or eat! Is that normal? And sometimes it gets hooked behind my tooth as well, I kind of want to take it out but I just got it :S what should I do?

@lilballerina I read that after you get it you should avoid chewing quickly. I definitely felt mine after i got when I ate and talked too. it wasnt severe though. If its not super irritating i would just not chew fast. and avoid gum especially. at least for a bit. would you consider yourself to have a thin upper lip?

@amalzd Yeah my upper lip is super thin! And actually I ended up taking it out, it looked good but I think it took attention away from my face as a whole so I wasn't into it anymore. Oh well maybe I'll get it re-pierced one day! Thanks for the advice anyway :)

@Chapplefros this happened to me. when it was just swelling I just kept pushing it back into place everytime. Later on I also had a keloid too which grew over my piercing. bit it off and it never came back. it could be one of these two things

I've had my Monroe for four days now and the back is digging into my gums a little. I don't think its making it bleed or anything, but it's kind of uncomfortable. Is that normal?

@EmoMaybe it is normal. it happened to me and I noticed it made my gum receed a little in the spot not too bad just a bit>_< I would get the bar switched as soon as it heals to reduce the chance of it bothering your gums!

@amalzd Thank you! I went to a different place and had them look at it. They pierced it with a standard size labret rather than a longer one =/ so the guy I went to stretched it out to a 14 from a 16 and gave me a 1/2 inch bar instead of the tiny one i had in.

I got mine done on wednesday and yes the bar is annoying as hell. My lips swelled more then anything and the bar is really long it looks dumb. IS it hard to change it your first time??

@XxTiFF08xX umm for me it was because the guy that pierced it for me made sure it wouldn't come lose during the healing process. I would suggest gettting latex gloves for the first time so you can get a good grip on the bar.

Mine hurt like ten times less than getting an ear piercing or my nose piercing. >.<
It was like a pinch when he put the jewelery in.
LOL, they didn't try to sell me anything just, "oh, okay. You're done. Pick up a care sheet. bye." Lol :D
I've only had mine a couple days, and it hasn't swolen at all yet, so the bar is like the most annoying thing in the world. XD

@Heartbrakemusic I know right! I tell everyone my ears hurt worse than my monroe and they don't believe me! The bar is pretty annoying especially when the swelling goes down and it starts to hit your teeth >_<

@Khristyinnia The push fit system is simple, you just need to push the post carefully, straight slowly and gently into the labret for a tight fit.they clip in, or "push fit " into the labret and hold tight there. And it will hold strongly enough, but can be removed anytime by holding the disc and pulling out the jewel with enough pressure.

Hey I just got my monroe done 6 days ago and its infected, ive been cleaning it with sea salt, rinsing with sea salt and also doing sea salt soaks for about 3 days now and still its infected, its not sore at all just red and has pus. Please Help should I go and get antibiotics??

i have a question!!!
i have done it yesterday and ofcourse its swollen and little sesitive...BUT this is my problem..when i eat the damm piercing is stuck between my teeth..(i wanted it not so high but little lower above my lip)...and its hurts cause it pulls the piercing down and also the wound..did you had this? i had more piercings but never above my lip only under..and this didnt happend to them..:(((

@mientjeo4 wow. I can honestly say this didn't happen to me. I would feel it go across my teeth when I ate before I put the new bar in but never what you talk about. umm. I would suggest maybe going back to the person who pierced it. and tell them what's wrong. IT sounds like your bar might be too long. sorry i couldnt help more :(

@mientjeo4 Do you mean stuck on the outer side of your teeth? I got mine a couple of days ago, & my piercing does the same thing when I open my mouth really wide (usually while chewing). It could possibly be becuz you have a small mouth, which is what I have. The bar is long, yes, but it's sort of a one-bar size for most people, so that when you have a smaller mouth, or smaller lips, the bar is longer than it would be if you had a larger mouth or fuller lips.

I have a smal mounth but big lips...i think it is because the piercing is placed to low..just above my lip(i wanted it myzelf)..BUT it is going better now the swelling is less and im getting used to i had it to when i was eating..it will go away BUT you have it a couple of days so the puss thing still is gonna come DO not toch it with youre vingers(i did and it takes longer to heal let youre body do the work)

@CenaPop3 Hold the back and twist the front. If you can't get a good grip, I'd advise you to slip on a pair of latex gloves.

I got my piercing done about 2 1/2 weeks ago, I'm just a little concerned cuz the inside is getting a dent around the jewelry. Is that normal? It don't hurt nor is red. I think it's doing good other than my issue.
