If I was out there in one of these protests, I'd carry a placard displaying a pie-chart that contrasts the average American CEO's pay (in money green) to that of the average worker's pay (in blood red).

Protests are not to interfere with daily activities of business or public citizens. If those folks want to have an impact on business the best place to do it is in the free market. Educating people is another way to do it. Staging a protest to get publicity is not the correct route and anyone doing so should be arrested on the spot.
