A very very good camera for the price. I upgraded from a 10mp D60. The extra buttons for settings are worth it over the small Nikon bodies.I bought one again because I loved the first one and the photographs are awesomely good, will enlarge huge, or sharp small areas if needed. To see the full ...

Thanks so much for this vid! I'm planning on buying a D7000 and was curious to know how the quality of the video settings are. :) Great Vid keep up the good work!
@Midbro100 Its a great camera with good video. I'm not sure if you already own Nikon or if you are looking to get your first DSLR. If you don't own Nikon and are looking to use your camera primarily for video, Canon T3i or 60D would be a better choice. Canon offers aperture adjustments in live view, 30 or 24p in 1080 and 60fps in 720. On Canon, you can't meter in live view. They may also have audio meters. Nikon has yet to step up to the plate in all these aspects.
@TheJocko411 Thanks for the advice! I do own a Nikon DSLR and am looking to upgrade. My primary use for it is for Stills . . . Video is just a thing I would like to mess around with. :) If I start doing more with it I'll definitely look into the T3i so thanks a lot for that!
@kiot147 I used Imagineer Mocha to track the ground, then used Adobe After Effects to place the title. There is a plugin for final cut so you'd be able to use the data from mocha, but you still need a copy of mocha.
@masscommlarry I just exported at a the sequence setting, by going to export movie then picking current settings. I was working in prores 1080 23.98 psf. Then I went into compressor and made a 1080 h264 with a very high bitrate. I think it was around 10000. That's about all you need to do.
amazing video, all these poser videos on here are giving the D7000 a bad name. your video just took a shit on all the other D7000 videos, good job finally someone who knows how to work their camera.
@Sha100s I used Imagineer Mocha to track the ground, then used Adobe After Effects to place the title.
The lens is always somewhat important to image quality, but you can get a great video without a great lens. A good chunk of this was shot with the 180-105 the D7000 kit lens. Many pros would say this lens is subpar. I don't particularly agree, it gives some great images. Video may actually be a bit more forgiving to lower end lenses as it is a much lower resolution than stills are.
@TheJocko411 On top of that I'll add: who knows... some "non pro" lenses like the 18-105 may actually be better for video on the D90/D7000 because the image from the sensor essentially has to be reduced and you don't necessarily want SUPER sharp. Remember what you can see in a 10+ megapixel image is not what you will see in 720p or even 1080p video. Reducing a slightly blurry or soft image may actually provide more pleasing video in the end result. Have fun and try out everything!
The only reason they say it is subpar is because the mounting ring is plastic. When a pro sees that, right away they put it in the subpar category. It is fine. I tried a 1500 dollar lens, and it is slighly crisper.
No, I noticed a gamma shift on a test I did in compressor, so I just ran them through After Effects. Compressor would work fine too, just a slight shift in the contrast.
