  • Oh you mean the infamous duck face

  • Please help support the 2nd Annual Slugline Short Screenplay Competition by visiting my indiegogo page: igg.me/p/4194

  • In real life I almost always say what I am really thinking...sometimes to the dismay of others. And when I write I always let them say what they are thinking. It didn't occur to me to not be so open with some characters. So thanks!

  • WHERE CAN I FIND HER ENTIRE INTERVIEW S'IL VOUS PLAIT?

  • This chick is hot. Serious.

  • Pfff, Erin Brockovich...

  • Did she have her lips plumped? They look like hemarhoids.

  • I'm amazed how ungenerous alot of these screenwriters are. They love talking about themselves but refuse to give even the tiniest bit of advice....instead it's so much running of circles around the interviewer. I believe passion and interest in life/people gives rise to great stuff when applied to the craft, I've seen it. My favorite writers have lived rich lives and enjoy engaging--and it's right there in the works.

  • @womanwheart - I can see your point. In screenplay writing, my theory I apply, is that I'm creating characters, who motivate the story forward, based on personalities, real people, I've met and contended with. The spoken dialogue reflects this, yet you still have to edit/balance it.

Real life conversations ramble on. Movie scenes need to make a point, move plot along and keep a certain rhythm. Watch your favorite movie with subtitles on. Actors don't say that much. Its how it's said -

  • @TheKillerWithinNJ @TheKillerWithinNJ Thank-you for your comment back!! Great points and I agree, to a point. Still, real life conversations do ramble on and it is true movie scenes should make a point, unless you want to make no point showing a certain turn of mind, inner chaos, chaos of situation etc., And actors don't say that much, it's how it's said....but I'm not sure I want to live and breathe formula either.

  • @womanwheart that's why they're screenwriters. it's introspective. find ur own path

  • i love susannah grant! "In Her Shoes" is like my favorite movie!

  • Of course you can learn to write dialogue better. You can learn to do anything better.

  • But in certain things I think there's a limit to how much better you can get if you don't have the raw talent.

  • thanks

  • write it down is a good tip, helps to tune you're ear
