Does anyone know where the 1st scene footage is from? the footage of him facing the camera I am trying to find which race if any or promotional material? Please help if possible...
Although Graham Hill wasn't on Jim Clark's level he compensated that with his sheer determination and fighting spirit. Had he not had his serious crash in 1969 he might have had a better final part of his career.
I guess he didn't want Damon to become a racecar driver since he couldn't have known of the wast improvements of safety the sport went through in the 80's and particularly the 90's.
like wanking you mean? what an absolute dude! do you think any of those personality dogers that race in F1 today are anywhere near this cool... christ I wish I'd been around to watch Hill, Moss, Stewart etc etc etc sigh no what we get are very fast insurance sales men, I don't I've seen more of a middle man that Lewis Hamilton... that guy could bore a glass eye to sleep
It's not a bloody BASEBALL helmet, mate.... it was an early open face Bell type helmet. Our Dan Gurney wore the first full coverage Bell helmet , 1967, and the last open faced helmet was seen during the 1973 GP season... i have one of the forst DOT approved Bell Stars, from 1974. It weighs a TON and could break ones NECK!
I had my 'puddin'basin' era, 1967-1972, and then a brand new Buco patrol officers helmet.... given to me by such an officer.
What a character this man was, and also one of the greatest Grand Prix drivers, of course. I love the part where he speaks about Damon. I'm saddened at the part where the interviewer asks about wanting to live to a 100 years, because his death was one of the most ironic in F1.
The recording of Guantanmera in the film was performed and recorded privately and especially for the film itself and therefore not publicly available...
There are 2 drivers that can still achieve that, Jacques Villeneuve (F1 champion & winner at Indy500, he was 2nd last year in Le Mans, but he is not competing this year) and Juan Pablo Montoya (winner of Indy500 & Monaco GP...)
I hope they will not win the Le Mans so Graham would stay the only one in history to achieve triple crown.... ;)
@IsaacBickerstaffEsq Jaques Villenerve (sp) could gain the triple crown, since he raced at Le Mans this year I think for Peugeot. If his car won next year he'd hold the triple crown also. Harder to achieve now than it was back then
What a cool guy!

That's why, in my opinion, he's the #1, and Senna is #2. And I'm brazilian.
Notice, however, that I feel that Senna had the potential to be the #1, as he won (once?) more at Monte Carlo, plus 1 more World Championship.

Unless Mario comes out of retirement again. Hey, Newman won his class at the Daytona 24 when he was 70. Never say never. : )
