  • What were you saying, PC? I was busy editing a 4K Red movie on my Mac. :D

*Posted on a Mac running Win 7 through the safest Web Browser today (How in the HELL did THAT happen?), Internet Explorer 9.

  • Apple: abusing popular culture for advertising purposes since.. Well forever :p

  • @megamarsvin

You know stanley kubrick himself gave the approval for the ad.

  • @megamarsvin Apple is part of popular culture, unlike MSFT

  • @peanutsnuts Yep they elbowed their way in very effectively. So did Microsoft but in different ways. What Apple and many of the "web 2.0" period corporations did better is present the image of "friendly" corporation, as if such a thing could exist.

When people think of Microsoft, they think "evil empire", when they think apple they think "cute fruit logos." When under the surface both companies are very similar. Heck Apple might even be more oppressive with its App Store and iTunes.

  • You like your Linux. It worked.

  • Everyone please, PCs did slightly malfunction but Microsoft made an update while Macs just went to 2000 Apple is still better though

  • It was Apple being jackasses, Dave.

  • I just saw the movie recently. I vaguely remember some scenes, but of course I remember HAL 9000. He's got to be up in the top 10 movie antagonists of all time.

While I prefer Windows, this has to be the best computer ad I've ever seen.

  • hehe its scary,my new monitors on-button kinda look like Hals eye,and the other day i refered to my computer as "him" hmm...i dont think watching that movie was good for me

  • FAIL

  • Jackasses.

  • Buy Macs or else your windows-based HAL 9000 computer will try to kill you and everyone you care for!

  • but you have to admit it would be pretty cool to won a HAL-9000!

  • @Bolshevikpirayan but were would you put it!

  • misanthropes unite!

  • Dave's not here man!

  • Douglas Adams claimed to have written a slogan for Apple: "Macintosh: We might not get everything right, but at least we knew the century was going to end."

  • Obvious "2001, A Space Odyssey" reference.

  • Thanks for noticing that!if you havent seen the movie or read the book you dont understand this commercial, msot people in here apparently havent, and "Hal" the computer in the spaceship in the movie said just after having killed the rest of the crew "It was a bug Dave,i feel much better now when admitting that" and also, "Hal" was probably another word for IBM in the movie...so there you got it kids ;)

  • It was about Y2K and the commercial was in 1999 when people were freaking out. If i were you, i'd delete my account and stop posting idiotic messages on every Apple video, douche.

  • This was created in 1999 nobody knew it wouldn't happen. Apple was just poking fun at all the noise

  • i don't like apple that much, but i still think your an idiot.

  • i don't care if you don't like apple, you should still go fuck yourself.

  • @50gig apples taste good

  • mactard, i like that!

  • Hahahaha!! ^^

  • lmao . . . i just heard a song that used the lines

"It was a bug dave" and "I feel much better admitting that now"

and i decided to find out what it was from

(song is It was a bug! by electroslide)

anyway, funny/creepy commercial = great post

  • Whoa Creepy

  • I didn't notice that any computers, Macs or Windows, get any so-call Y2K bugs. It was a hoax made by someone that I don't even know.

  • This was before the year 2000, so people thought that the bug would occur.

  • hahahaha

  • LOL, Y2K bug was nothing as well.
