"I wonder how long these things are going to stare at me.... They're still there.... Weird lookin' creatures...... Still staring at me.... All I want to do is relax, eat some food, scratch my back, and I've got these things staring at me. Meh...I'll get them out of here.... This ought to scare them..."
i was up in algonquin once and a black bear attacked me we ened up on the ground wrestling, finally i got out of the bears headlock and started to ground and pound him to he started to turtle thats when I knew he had enough. If it was a grizzly though i wouldnt have been able to do that, i would have had to out run it
yeah um... i don't really see her charging you. she was sitting there for almost all the video and then she moved and the video finishes. might wanna rethink the title.
Its funny how many people want to see wild animals attacking. Im no acception, infact I had to tell myself not to look anymore. If this were a true attack I would remove it, but in all honesty, it is educational.
Black/Brown Bears are known to charge but when they get between 20-10 feet they'll turn and run away if you hold your ground (or charge them in turn) That's why it's called a bluff charge. Their teeth are the main threat anyways. Climbing bears claws tend to be too stubby to do too much damage besides a few welts or superficial scratches.
everyone is fine, like another poster mentioned, this is an almost daily occurance here in Lake Tahoe. 2007 was a record year for bear sightings due to the Angora Fire we had in June.
That is amazing that your o.k! The bear must have been testing you or did you do something to deter him from actually getting you? What was the reason for the bear stopping from getting you?
I guess not all bears are the same in regards to what the bear experts teach us. Or maybe its because humans have become so common in a bears life. I dont have a clear answer. Just whats caught on tape, they dont all attack when you run.
Damn you are very lucky. I did some work at Yellowstone a while back, the first day was bear school, . A grizzly bear will usually not try to kill you, they bluff charge to scare you. then get physical... scaring a grizzly away with yelling/loud noises is a bad idea. Black bears are opposite yelling usually works. but if the head lowers, the ears go back and charges it wants you dead. Black bears have killed more people than grizzly, kodiak and mexican bears combined.
Thats where I reserve the right to disagree. If its a means of survival then there is a definite need,as it was a long time ago. For sport, its just murder in by book.
The bears have a right to be here as much as we do. People who kill bears should be stopped. As for the charge, it had to be fake, isn't it odvious? The fact that I am still alive should be proof positive. If she was or wanted to kill me, I would be dead. Is it a good idea to mess with bears....no! Hows that?
There is nothing wrong with hunting bears provided you do not waste the meat or hide, hunt responsibly, follow conservation rules set in place, and make a clean ethical kill.
You guys should see what she did to the garbage dumpster the other nite. She jumped up and down on it so hard it caved in, and in she went with cubs in tow. Powerful creatures indeed.
Her Ears were Back... She huntched into the Running position... thats not a fake charge.. she was going to fucking kill.. I hope u guys got outta there.. SHe charged pretty far back too...
A bear can run over 35 miles an hour you wouldn't get away unless it broke off the attack. I have been in the bush and have seen a mother and cubs running through thick underbrush silently. I was also stalked by a Cougar at night once. saw it in my flashlight and fired a couple rounds over it's head and got the hell out of there.
That was hilarious.

Maybe in Yellowstone the bears are more aggressive, but according to record, there have been no bear attacks in Tahoe ever.
