In his prime: best striker in the modern game. Period. Fastest player on the field, just as fast with the ball as without. Great technique. Great shot. Even great headers.
At the WC06, people complained he was fat and out of shape, but he still scored 3 goals in a disastrous brazilian team (no one was in good shape, didn't play together...)
Too bad he had all of these physical problems...

First let me say ronaldo is a beast and sorry he got hurt so sad that and he drinks alot. He is the phenom and best striker of modern era maybe all time ( di stefano). BUt Pele no, remeber at 17 pele was Playing in the world cup scoring a hat trick vs france in the semi and a brace in the final 6 goals in his first 3 games at 17! put to that he took a boat to europe and was feeling ill its incredible i think he is still the only player to score a hat trick in the WC and he did it at 17 .

I doubt that, Ronaldo was more a goal machine, a technical robot. We will never know how good he would've been without all his injuries and other troubles.
But Messi is also from another planet, really one of a kind and in my opinion better than Maradona.
Maybe we shouldn't compare, Messi, Ronaldo and Diego, they're all phenomenal.
