K-pop hands down, I haven't been following J-pop much aside from old Utada Hikaru songs. But it seems the J-pop group should be the winner since their dancing seems better ;D It'd be funny if you pit T-ara Time To Love to Nami Tamaki's Missing You. Otakuthon　event is Japanese event. for Japanese anime, game,otaku idol etc..

Otaku is Japanese word. and otaku music is ofcouse for kids or otaku pp.

Japan is second largest music market in world, there are a lot more kind of music.

why Korean always appear Japanese event?　like Japan Expo in Paris.

that event was founded by French and this year, nearly 200000 pp came there to see Japanese culture, not korean one.

if u think korean culture is so good, make your own event.

@515rey Otakuthon is for promote japanese culture, sure~ but video games too and asian in general, if it had no k-pop / video games / whatever pannel at Otakuthon... it will have really not a lot of pannels :s when i goes to Otakuthon in 2009 it was fuuuull of pannels, now because not a lot of people want to organize it, they have close a big section, so yeah, Otakuthon looks for japanese culture but it's not ONLY that :) and we organize our korean events, we only want to propose more pannels :)

@xKatiwa I was an originator of the Jpop vs Kpop panel in the united states. It is a very important panel to me along with my others and it hurt me to see it so blatantly copied. At least use your own cuttings of the songs. You took hours worth of planning and execution on my part and took it as your own. I realize it isn't copywrited, but it was still something you should at least attempt to make your own in some way. My panels are my way of affording cons and I cant afford them stolen

The most important thing for music is "Melody",

and the important truth is that there is hardly any melody in every genre of J-music.

That;s my conclusion that I have listened to so many J-music( including traditional japanese music).

Korean music(including traditional music) has so many songs with good and deep emotional melody. That's the critical difference between K-music and J-music.

@iSupportYouAll No, they only chose the most childish J-Pop songs...if you can even call that selection "J-Pop", it was mostly Anime & Meme songs :\ Koda Kumi & Namie Amuro are far from being suitable for kids. If they chose songs like "Twinkle Twinkle" by Girl's Day or "Balloons" by DBSK for the K-Pop side, they would've looked childish too.
