  • 0:51 FUCKING SKELETON OUT OF NO WHERE!

  • danny elfman = (insidiously dangerous YET harmless) at the same time.

  • it said i am the walurs

  • Wow, sounds and looks great! What a fantastic band they were.

  • Boo, they cut away during the crotch grab.

  • maybe protogrunge? These songs still kick ass. Punk rock. the 1980's. If you were not there you will never know. Enjoy your akron, and skin-bleached hip hop starssss, with their bleached straight hair.

  • Nothing has come close to Oingo Boingo. I went to as many concerts as I possibly could back in the day. Thank you for the memories.

  • Who the fuck is roosevelt? well all i know is to quote oingo boingo!

-There is nothing to fear but fear itself

  • é uma pena que nunca verei um show deles ao vivo... sao quase 18 anos curtindo o trabalho deles e o que me frustra é saber que nunca irei assistir um show deles... :(

  • The only person I've ever seen rival these guys live was Robert Plant, and well D'uh, he is the Golden God. Danny should be the Ginger God.

  • This is what SKA wishes it could be.

  • I'm so sad I never got to see them in 80s and 90s. I was born in the wrong decade T_T

  • @harpychicklol13 dont worry, me too. this is the one one band i would to love to have seen live...

  • @harpychicklol13 idem!

  • @harpychicklol13 Sorry. It was amazing groing up with Boingo and creative and questioning music of the time. Just thank god you have youtube to see what it was like.

  • @harpychicklol13 It's ok, I saw them for you.

  • vote up if your still listening in 2011

  • Of course everything here is fantastic, but I would just like to call attention to Avila's ridiculously high-pitched voice in Tender Lumplings. Yes. :D

  • @ScaryGhost Don't forget insects, reptiles, and samurai!

  • I saw them 17 times in the 80's and 90's! The Halloween show's were legendary!! Nothing has ever compared to their shows!! I miss them!!

  • @MissLoriAnn You are so right! The Halloween shows were incredible. Growing up in Socal we used to look forward to Boingo and the Dead coming to the Meadows. You couldn't come within a mile of that place without getting high. LOL!

  • @blazingdan I remember that, jeez, I must have seen them a dozen times for Halloween. I STILL have yet to find a more pleasurable Halloween tradition.

  • Nothing to fear but fear itself...and spiders, and zombies, and clowns...hmmm?

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this band! Went to so many Oingo Boingo concerts in CA back in the '80's, it wouldn't surprise me if I was spotted in "the pit" on this video ;)

  • SUWEE SUWEE SUWEE SUWEE

  • I absolutely LOVE Danny Elfman. LOVE him...... I saw every show he did in Atlanta - but that wasn't enough.

  • not sure im a big fan of this. but i absolutley love the music he does for movies tv and games.

  • Chocolate shake!

  • Danny Elfman is so damn creepy but thats the only reason this band worked

  • growing up in cali i saw oingo boingo almost ever tour miss the great live show

  • growing up in the 80s in cali i saw growing up miss the great live

  • they shoulda hooked up with Fishbone at some point.

  • @mangozumo Boingo wipes the floor with Fishbone.

  • @MrsMazik ll

if they "oingo" were still playin together ... sadly they are not, but the mighty fishbone still out there...

  • wow mosh at oingo boingo nice!!!!

  • @Mattera1 dude the entire farewell show was a MOSH PIT YEAHHHH check out the 94 halloween show on youtube too that shit is crazy

  • Love the fact Danny is barefoot.

  • Halloween just will not be same without a Biongo Concert

  • This was Curt Cobain's favourite song.... :D

  • @MinaRoxy Cool!

  • awesome live performance!!! Got to see them 3 times once in a hotel ballroom. So intense.... love Oingo Boingo u rule!

  • these guys were really big in Brazil. I watched them playing in a soccer stadium in Rio. They ruled the country in the late 80s.

  • O Brasil ama o Oingo Boingo. Adeus, amigos.

  • I love all of Danny Elfmans work - from Oingo Boingo to his movie composition he is amazing!

  • omg an boingo mosh pit XDD that just is funny to see

  • Back in the day we would see Oingo Boingo three times a year and they would play for 2-3 hours every concert and the crowd would beg they to come back and do more. I remember a 4 hour concert at Irvine Meadows in the late 80's. They were the ultimate crowd pleasers.. I dont think i ever heard them cover a song live either--all original stuff

  • I too know how lucky I was, especially when I was seeing them at our local colleges with all of couple hundred people, and the time when Danny spent 3 minutes just yodeling during a tech problem. Musical chops across the board.

  • oingo boingo is seriously one of the most underrated bands of all time...i know they received a large chunk of fame and have a seriously solid grassroots following but you never see them on top 100 bands or anything like that. they are so influential and have such a distinct sound that nobody can even imitate. oingo boingo will be missed!

  • Their live show was intensely rockin'

  • Comment removed

  • I do know how lucky I was all 12 times and 8 halloweens--they were the best of their day!

  • Yes we do know how lucky we were and if you lived in Los Angeles you saw them every Oct 31.Not only were they fun, the crowds were also nice and fun. Can't remember all the times I saw them, but watching these brings back alot of memories I went all three farewell concerts at the Universal Amp theater near Universal Studios The costumes and puppets all the Día de los Muertos items were all part of it, yes I am over 40 have kids.....

  • Yeah! Go Danny!

  • i'd bang him...lol He's a good Frickin fuckin performer

  • The bass sound is killer!!! Reminds me the sound of Geddy's bass.

  • How prophetic.

when this song was made, the main threat was the 1920's generation of murderously radical Russian communists *still* ruling the Soviet Union 65 years later, and today, our main threat is murderously radical arab Muslims.

  • @akulkis I really don't see how the situations are analogous.

  • musicvidcollection Rocks !!!

  • any idea what year this is from?

  • I am not certain but it looks like a live from 1995, I'm wondering if it wasn't the Farewell...

  • @ZRedPoppy

    thanks. ..

  • @mangozumo ;)

  • @ZRedPoppy - Yep - it's the Farewell concert.

  • @dragonsrightwing Ah thanks a lot for letting me know/confirming :)

  • Why isn't he using the usual voice? Was this around the time he quit and started working fo Tim Burton?

  • @NekoChanSenpai No...this was the end of oingo boingo...Last concert I believe. He started working with Tim Burton in 1985.

  • hes not retired from movie soundtrack songwriting~! He is SO good. He just did alice in wonderfland this year, and hellboy, he does a couple movies a year he is amazing

  • 2:05 is when it gets good, lol

  • These lyrics remain highly poignant. Americans are now afraid of Nigerian guys with the runs.

  • Saw them in they Bay Area in 1984... Opening act was Wang Chung- who were boo'd during their performance. Oingo Boingo ROCK !

  • cool man they're like a classic or something to me?

  • I saw Wang Chung a couple months ago in LA. They were much better than I expected. They opened for ABC and Berlin. Nothing will ever match Oingo Boingo though.

  • is or was?

  • He was. not is!

  • ok, you just looked a bit dumb, was trying to help pull your comment out of the red

  • he used to be! not is!

  • Wow thats pretty cool=) these guys are badass

  • haha im glad theyre badass then

  • I so much miss seeing these guys, in concert, one of the better groups to see Live!!!

  • I love both songs. Danny is awesome, ya dont hear stuff like this on the radio...

  • Holy Sh*t that bass is PHAT.

  • It's a different kind of Trip 15 years later watching while sipping the Morning Coffee... than... just entering Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre after pounding Mickey's Big Mouths & Colt 45 Malt Liquor with a ton of good looking 1980's women around you & adrenaline running thru your veins! We lived for this! LOL! How is Mr. Elfman's Hearing loss? Perhaps I am suffering from hearing loss too from being a Fan? Anyway's thank you Oingo Boingo for the Fun Adreniline Rushing Music!

  • Saw the first Lolapoolza with Jane's headlining at Irvine Meadows back in I think 1990.

I have friends that saw dozens of shows at Irvine Meadows. They never paid once. They did the bull rush.

  • i was at the first lolapalooza too it was 1991 i think i got back stage & partied with ice t's heavy metal band and met my CRUSH stephen perkins drummer janes addiction lol

  • what city did you see the show in?

Stephen Perkins......the man with the kinky hair.......seems like a very nice guy

  • I saw these guys back in the 80s and I was one of the low percentage of women at that show. It was odd. Mostly men and mostly frat boys. Still, it was fantastic!

  • Oh, my Lord. Are you kidding me? This is beyond normal parameters.

  • The Tubes, maybe??? Nah, there's nobody who could cut these guys...nobody else who could do this. Wonder if anybody ever saw a bill w/ The Tubes & Oingo, tho? Theoretically(geographically & historically)possible...what a concept!!

  • Open your eyes. You shall ( live )....Lad

  • TYPICAL OINGO BOINGO BRILLIANCE>>>>MAN O MAN I MISS THOSE DAYS WHEN YOU COULD +HIT A CLUB AND SEE A BAND #3rd Row!!!

  • bass player completely owns!

  • No shoes and everything! Gotta love Elfman!

  • Hey wolffang!

  • Yes, isn't it awesome and refreshing?

  • valid question.... How would a person of that nature rock out?

  • With much vigor.

  • What would figuratively rocking out like a motherfucker be? Sorry, couldn't resist.

  • no wonder hes the coolest movie scorer...he literally rocks out like a motherfucker

  • Best live band ever, I've been to hundred (yes hundreds) of concerts, and no one beat Oingo Boingo. Okay maybe Led Zeppelin but that's another story...Elfman is a genius....insane energy....

  • totally on the money !

  • What can you say Danny Elfman's a genius. . . Saw them twice in the 80's. Awsome fucking horn section.

  • lol thats a really softcore mosh pit

  • Because back in the day there was an etiquette to the pits and not the bs macho shit of today.

  • lol i wish i could go back to those times and i wouldnt fear breaking myself every time i go to a concert :D

  • Lol, my friends have me come over to their place, when they practice, they use me for a few songs that I know... they noticed, for a fairly heavy guy, who runs out of breathe quickly running around... I can rock out like Elfman, for a good 2-3 hrs. lol

  • i wanted to see them sooooooo bad, damn im gonna miss them

  • oingo boingo is something from my youth that i miss more than anything elso. good times/great music!NO ONE PUTS A SHOW ON LIKE THESE GUYS DID! NO-ONE!

  • My dad skipt out on me when he went to this show . I give him grief every time and so what if I was in 6th grade.

  • i agree with 'saytheremeg', you are very lucky guys. harder to be a 'boingoloid' in England when no-one here has heard of them but me 8-).

oh yeah, and this is an awesome performance XD

  • When Boingo performed, they poured their heart and soul into the show. Concerts were always 2.5 hours or more, compared to other acts I've seen these days who play for less than 2 hours. The fans would dress in costumes and the whole concert was an "event", often taking place near Halloween. Not a Halloween goes by that I don't wish Boingo would reunite and tour my town again.

  • I saw Boingo perform 5 times in Utah where they regularly toured due to large following (2 times in Park City, 1 in the Salt Palace, and 2 the Delta Center). Their final tour, which this was filmed from, was nothing short of spectacular.

  • When I discovered Boingo in 1980 they still were playing relatively small venues like Wolfe & Rismiller's Country Club in Reseda and the Palomino in, iirc, Huntington Beach. I saw them as many times as I could and am grateful for every occasion.

  • I wonder if all the people who got to see these guys live know how FREAKING LUCKY they are. There is a whole new generation of Boingo fans who didn't even start listening to them until after they retired. Myself included. :( I hope you lucky people are grateful that you got to see Danny LIVE!!

  • @saytheremeg I am very grateful to have graduated in '85, I'll tell you those years were THE BEST, and there never was again A TIME LIKE IT. I saw Oingo Boingo in Santa Clara, at Great America with Missing Persons!!! I know how LUCKY I was/am to have lived in such a freaking lucky time period! Amen, Thank YOU GOD it was a blast!

    ~KaTsMeO~

  • @katsmeo hehe... you can't imagine how I envy people like you! Lucky bastard eheheh I was only 2 when you graduated ahaha

  • @saytheremeg

We DID know - that's why we kept going and going and going-going-oing-oingo-oingo boingo...OINGO BOINGO forever.

  • @saytheremeg

Dude... I know what you are saying and I was one of the fortunate ones who did see OB live AND at the Paladium in Hollywood... THE FREAKING BEST CONCERT I HAVE EVER SEEN....

  • @saytheremeg

I still have my ticket stubs and stickers in my highschool scrap book. Loved this band then and love them now.

  • @saytheremeg

I just today saw your comment and have to say that you are correct that those of us who saw Boingo live are very lucky to have done so. Between 1980 and 1995, I saw them 22 times. (yeah, I'm a Boingo junkie).

  • @ggh7664 I don't have a precise number but that sounds about right. Woohoo LA locals!

  • @MrsMazik

Actually, I'm not from LA. Born and raised in Salt Lake, which was Boingo's favorite city (after LA) to do a show. In full disclosure, I did see them in LA 7 or 8 times because I lived in the area for several years and it was just a quick commute to be able to see them in both cities.

  • more!!!!!!

  • @skelington1333 Yes Yes MORE! Tee hee, that's exactly how i feel.

Turn on some OingoBoingo and ya wanna get up and dance, sing, sweat! :o) Cute Comment I LOVE IT.

    ~KaTsMeO~

  • Keep rating my comment bad

  • I'm with you: your friends don't know what they're talking about.

PS: I marked it as spam. Is that bad enough for you?

  • TO BAD TO BAD!!!! lol jk

  • Many bands aspire to be this tight playing live.

    Oingo Boingo will live forever!

  • Just Another Day isnt on their either

  • Why Is This Not On The Farewell Cd?!?!?!? X(

  • This is direct from the Farewell Tour video. And the extras make it well worth the money if you can get it.

  • still one of my all time favorite bands.

  • good song..especially at the points during the chorus where it picks up.

  • I know he's a composer and all, but I'm still impressed at Danny Elfman's ability to shred.

  • When and where is this from?

  • this is onigo boingos last concert in 1995 at the universal ampitheater

  • Why the hell isnt this song on the farewell cd??????????

  • That intro is awesome I cant belive the voices Danny is capable of !....And Oingo Boingo fucking incredible live !

  • Elfman is a sexy, sexy beast. Especially with out shoes on.

  • Would I let him buy me candy? Oh yes.

  • You are all wrong. He has Tetris.

  • tinnitis

  • ive heard Danny went deaf...makes me sad...

  • na. he just has tenitis...sorry, however you spell it.

  • tinnitus- ringing in the ears. This is not meant to sound snobby.

  • THAT IS IF THE CRAZY ARABS OR THE RIOTS DONT GET US FIRST

genius, russians and wise men, wow it sucks that elfmans retired

  • If you just got married to the bestFonda you'd retire to!

  • @125630 The best Fonda? Did he get married to Bridget Fonda? OMIGASGH wb.

    Thanks

    ~KaTsMeO~

  • god, I love this song. It's so weirdly reassuring.

  • danny is barefoot, isn't he?

  • Danny is almost always barefoot at some point in concert. In Seattle I don't think he even bothered with shoes. Came onstage bare.

  • Yeah, I have this on DVD and he doesn't wear shoes at all in this concert.

  • is that warren from the vandals playing guitar in this performance... i think it is.

  • Yep. He only played with them for about 2 years though in their final years. It's funny because, while watching him, he seems to get really bored with their slower songs while he packs great energy on their more driven songs.

  • Yes. He is.

  • no, he has hearing damage, he's not deaf!

  • This is one of my favorite boingo songs.

  • Great band, but this rendition is a bit grungy and muddy. I didn't see the need for the fourth guitar (along from Bartek's lead, Elfman's rhythm, and Avila's bass).

  • seen them at the hollywood paladium

    great show

  • like this tune a lot i seen them do it at the us festival in 1983 wish i could find that video have not had any luck in doing so if anyone has that performance please post it thxxxxx

  • i here ya brudda

  • Man every1 who got to see them are soo lucky, i wasn't even born when they were huge. I grew up with nightmare b4 xmas as a special on tv! It was my fav movie as a kid... Of course my parents didn't listen to cool music back then... So thanks for the vids on here otherwise I'd never get the chance to see this great musical genious!!
