  • I love Rush and DT. They did a fine job of covering this.

  • OMG! I MISSED THIS!?

  • Geddy Lee > Three other great musicians emulating him simultaneously.

  • They played all moving pictures or just this song?

  • Portnoy sta in questo pezzo come un elefante in una cristalleria.

  • HA! I wasn't really paying close attention when I clicked on this, and it took me a minute to figure out why it said "Dream Theater" above the album cover. I hate waking up early.

  • Great job!! Amazing video!! I like that DT are fans of RUSH, but the singer is the only person who doesn't do the song justice... It's not a knock on the singer, but who really sounds like Geddy, anyways??? Nobody...Other than that it's BAD-ASS!!

  • great audio man! thanks for posting! great cover too!!!

  • AWESOME! talk about a band you can trust with such a tune.....not many you can....lol....

thanks for this dude. f'ing righteous.

  • Any true Rush fan realizes Jordan kills this song because of his inability to hit the high pitches like Geddy

  • 2: 20 best drum fill of the song, i steal it and use it in all my songs... HA nobody tell Neil

  • Grim faced and forbidding

    their faces closed tight

    and angular mass of CANADIANS

    pacing in rhythm

    face the oncoming night

they chase through the streets of TORONTO

    hahahahah good one!

  • this is probably one of the best covers ive ever heard.

  • Rush hasn't played this song live since the 1983 Signals Tour. Props to DT for resurrecting this gem of a song.

  • @rollergoalie16 yes. Dream theater played by tor and snowdog song in Madrid, my city, on Scenes from a memory tour, was a great moment to me... I `m a Rush big fan since 1980..... and D.T. too of course. for me, DT are the best band that covered to Rush songs....

  • @rollergoalie16 but rush is gonna do ALL of moving pictures this summer!!!

  • Long live to rush and dream thetaer

  • a couple of my friends where there iwas so jealous

  • I still can't believe they covered they covered Rush at this show. That made the concert so much more awesome than it already was.

  • i was there. and i came. everywhere

  • Omg i get what my friend calls an "eargasm" on this. One of my favorite bands playing one of my favorite songs on my birthday :P I love rush and i love dream theater (not as much but they sure is awesome!)

  • Takes major balls to cover one of Rush's most difficult songs and play it live in their hometown. Kudos, DT.

  • I´d change 'difficult' for 'beatiful'

  • I hope they play it here in London (Wembley Arena) this Saturday!!!!

  • its funny how mike's got his raptors jersey on :P great cover though!! Great show!!

  • Big Rush fan. Great song to cover, lots of nuances they seem to nail all of them.

  • No wonder they didn't do this in LA. Way out of James range!!

at least at the end of the tour, and LA was the last night

  • I was there. At the first synth sounds, I was thinking, "This sounds exactly like... but I know it isn't..."

About 20 seconds later, it was more like "AGH! AGH! AGH! AGH! AGH!"

  • I know what you mean man. I was thinking.. hmm that sounds vaguely familiar.. turn to my friend. "THAT's RUSH! THAT'S RUSH! YEEAAAHHHHHHH""

Was my reaction :D Amazing concert, never seen anything like it.

  • damn i wish they played this for us on the 7th in nj

  • i love this band.

  • exelente!

  • Best Rush Cover I have heard! This song is especially difficult. It has such a unique british flavor to it. Very Nice..

  • Very good considering coming from a big Rush fan. Good Job!

  • Very nice DT cover. Really like when they did The Side of the Moon as well. They are an awesome band!

I miss this Rush phase on the band(Rush) nowadays ,wish they'd return to the Moving Pictures age once again.Nice comments about the video as well!Way to go!

  • Yeah, newer Rush doesn't really do much for me either... I did like Snakes & Arrows though.

  • Newer rush? moving pictures was in the first 6 years of their career, nearly 30 years ago! i like pretty much all of their stuff except caress of steel. even vapour trails, which was the first time they had sounded alive or a long time (and i must be one of the few who thought it was an incredible album). snakes and arrows was great though. wish they would play this one themselves live now and again.

  • Great cover. One of my fav Rush songs...

  • Does Myung ever cut loose? Playing w/ Petrucci and Portnoy you'd think he would go off. Especially during this song. It's been 20 yrs. dude! I know you're good but do something! It's Rush! When you're covering Rush people pay attention to guitar, drums, and BASS! Make a statement bitch! Why even be in a band like DT if you won't even try to make the song your own!? Note for note? You can't throw in a fill or something to make someone go, "Damn! This dude is good!" Rudess can cover you. Go home.

  • dude - great recording - audio and video quite clear for a handheld. What do you use ? (saw DT in Atlanta, but no Rush covers. Dang !)

  • Thanks very much for the compliment. Actually not too proud of this recording due to filming the guys in front of me more than the band, but did my best given the situation. I film with a JVC Everio 60GB HDD cam. Great for outdoor venues.

  • Sorry dude. I didn't get a chance to thank you for the recording. Love DT, Rush, and TCE. Got hung up on the bass player and forgot what was important. I enjoyed it regardless.

  • No worries bud. You expressed yourself, something that in your opinion Myung did not do. I am cool with that. I thought he would rip into something myself, but it never really happened. I think it is because when people think of DT, it is the Double P show, Petrucci & Portnoy. Not taking anything away from the other members, but those 2 are phenomenal at their given instruments that most if not all go to a show to see what they will do next.

  • Double P! That's right on! Never heard that one. I understand what you said about the other members. Individually, at one time or another, I have heard them tear it up but I can't ever recall myself giving Myung any props. That's cool though. I just thought he would stand out more doing a Rush song in Canada.. Just let down I guess. Last time I saw DT was in Indy. 93' I think? Great show in a small venue. Hope they come my way again but I doubt it. Thanks again dude!

  • @TheMetfan72 rudess too. lets be honest, he shows off his shit at every opportunity. and he almost always has a keyboard solo, just by himself, in a DT setlist. and quite honestly, he's probably a better keyboardist than petrucci and portnoy are guitarist and drummer respectively. and thats saying a hell of a lot because both petrucci AND portnoy can be considered the VERY best at their instrument

  • @TheMetfan72 lol reading this now i am sad to think how it certainly not the double p show anymore

  • My head was tingling with excitement when I heard these guys doing Rush, Camera Eye. One of the best songs on Moving Pictures cd. Wow!

  • and it is the most demanded song from rush fans because they havent played it since the signals tour in 1982.

  • they played it in 83 too

  • Put your speakers outside, this song sounds great cranked up in a echoing forest or anywhere you can get a great echo. It sounds like a ufo in close encounters. Try it. Dream Theater is fantastic in all they do. They just get better every year. The new cd rocks. It cranks in Frankenstein mode. Buy it. You will love it. Great show in Washington. Cleveland loves you.

  • Very cool!

  • i wanted Dt to cover this song so bad i wish i could have been there

  • Glad everyone is enjoying this clip. It was an awesome show. DT is very tight sounding on this tour and I think everyone should get out to see them if possible. Here is the setlist: A Nightmare to Remember A Rite of Passage Hollow Years (extended) Keyboard Solo Erotomania Voices Forsaken Take the Time ------ The Camera Eye (Rush Cover) The Count of Tuscany
  • Can anybody remember how the set list went? I remember the first 2 songs (ANTR, ROP) but that's about it with the order. My memory is poor.

  • awesome to see one of the BEST groups around perform the music of THE BEST BAND around!

    nice!

  • and to think they got 5 guys playin it here, and rush does it with only 3!!!

  • That's because DT has 5 members. What do you want the other 2 to do, sit in the backstage? :S

  • im fully aware of the fact that dt has 5 members...you missed the point of my comment entirely.

  • Yeah, you probably referred to the way Geoff plays technically 3 instruments (including Vocals as far as I know?).

But then again, DT had all the instruments when James joined, they didn't need more, and I don't see it as such a big bonus when a singer does more things. Honestly, Geoff Tate is really amazing for doing 2 things at a time and do them well.

  • Are you talking about Rush, Dream Theater, or Queensryche?? I lost ya. Geoff Tate is the lead singer for Queensryche, Geddy Lee is the lead singer for Rush and is part octopuss. I can't remember Geoff Tate doing much more than singing all the times I've seen them in concert over the years.

  • Meh, then I meant Geddy. My comment is so old anyways. Let it slide...

  • It would be amazing to hear Myung sing this song and play keyboards/ Taurus pedals too. He definitly has the talent.

  • aw 2,113 views. I guess I shouldn't have watched it

  • ROFL : )

  • NICE! I was about 5 seats to the left of you and a row or two up!!! AMAZING CONCERT!!!!!

  • WOW!... DT covering one the greatest Rush tunes ever... awesome job guys! Kudos to James!

  • the set list was soooo fucking satisfying

  • WOW!! Incredible stuff!! Love it. I'm not a big DT fan but this is a favorite for this HUGE RUSH fan!!

  • Good choice of songs to Cover

  • You're making my hubby VERY happy covering this song DT !! Thanks for posting this for us that weren't at the show, awesome !

    Caroline

  • I was there!!!!! :D

    So awesome!

  • When they started playing this I was freaking out.

  • man I hope they play Rush in Edmonton. I would blow my brains out in satisfaction and extasy

  • yea im goin to that show next week too!! I hope they do rush and id love to hear them play A s I Am...that was the song that got me into DT.

  • Awesome job man!

  • One day the album "Moving Pictures" will appear in the YtseJam records cover series, and DT will officially be the greatest band ever!

  • I love that whenever DT covers Rush, its always a song that Rush doesn't want to play, like The Necromancer or Jacob's Ladder.

  • my god...Dream Theater covering one of my favorite Rush songs ever. FUCK YES!!!!!

  • Awesome, Paul!

  • I noticed that it was rush but didn't realize what song they were playing. Amazing show

  • Frigging unbelievable. Even Rush refuses to play the song live.

  • awesome!

  • I went nuts when they played this.

one of my fave rush tunes.

    YAAAAAA

  • awesome show! I was there. Nightmare to remember was awesome..

  • nice one, paul!!

  • Amazing, thanks for getting this, Paul!
