The P-51D was designed for long range escort, and attack. All-in-all the P-51D closer matched its design goals. If both planes were low on fuel with no excess armament the FW190 would win. Also, you should consider the F8F part of that era, and it would have completely destroyed the focke-wulf if it had been implemented before VE day

Sorry - that's absolute bollocks: both the P51 and the Mk9 Spitfire could outperform the FW190 - both in the turn and in the climb. (Lufwaffe pilots got thought the MK9 spits were MK5s - then got a hell of a shock when the were out climbed in a climbing scissors manouver - now THAT, is fact. You just clearly have penchant for German aircract and obviously don't like allied ones. It's only YOUR opinion and not aeronautical fact...check the performance figures alone of each type.
