  • This and Tyler, my top tow tracks on this album.

  • I LOVE the TOADIES!!!!!!!! ~A

  • Lyrics remind me of Lord of the Flies

  • this has always been my favorite toadies song!!!!

  • why the fuck did toadies never blow up, still trying to figure out why the fuck they didnt

  • what about them now? they are huge here in the great state TX! also one of the most profitable acts on the indie circuit.

  • i didn't like anything but this album, but yeah they're underrated. always seemed kinda parallel to the pixies to me, and look at them now. as far as this song,, it's great, but i can't think of a game or movie that it would've fit in.

  • @dcpigpen Try "Dollskin." Also, I can see this as the soundtrack for a man who's finally had his fill, briskly walking through his house... determined. He knocks over pictures of people he longs to forget, snatches the gas can, pours it all over the bed and splashes it up the walls. He lights a match, drops it and, in coolguy cinematic fashion, casually saunters off with nary a flinch or glance back as yesterdays turn... to ash.

  • @dcpigpen Could have fit into Spawn....or The Darkness....or even Doom.

  • i would pray 4 the toadies 2 b greater in pop than they r

  • love the song loved rubberneck listen whole tape yes tape very underrated band

  • it's so fun to do that feedback whammy bar thing the guitarist does...but only if your playing with a drummer.

  • If you guys like the toadies, check out Eat The Dog on face book. Similar stuff.

  • I live in Texas..and The Toadies are fucking awesome!! They should have been much bigger!! This has got to be my favorite song aside from Tyler..Love the Toadies :)

  • LOVE THE TOADIES!!!!

  • why does everyone think this is grunge

  • @jcthomas521 Because people don't understand this era of music. It's discounted as, "along with that other music that was playing".

  • @JonathanSCrook makes since its just funny if tod or lisa heard anyone call them grunge when we all first started out they would have been insulted lol

  • I love this song so much, I sang it in a talent show, when i was 11, and im 12 :3 and this song is fucking amazing, I love the last part when he goes from nice, but dark, to angry and dark, its so awesome *-*

  • just... awesome.

  • uh oh..... i broke the light....

  • As tired as I am of hearing "Possum Kingdom" being played on the radio four times a day, I am still madly in love with Toadies.

  • Something should be done to make them bigger. If any band deserves it its them

  • @silverrubicon69 yep theyve been fucking awesome forever

  • @silverrubicon69

part of their appeal is that they have not gone that mainstream. like the melvins. if everyone liked them then that would ruin how special they are.

  • Can't belive more people don't know about the Toadies!! This whole album, errr.. Cd was awesome when it first came out and that was 17 years ago or better!!!! It's still great!!

  • wth? only 2 people dislike this! there should be ZERO dislikes, what wrong with people these days!? >_<

  • This song reminds me of a time in my life when I was still dating "the one who got away" !! Damn GOOD times. I LOVE it!!!!!

  • @TheSunnygayle that's so funny to me, because "the one who got away" from me? Showed up the other day after a decade and we had a wonderful date!

  • @roodog1974 the one who got away from me showed up seven weeks ago.....took me my storm.....made me blissfully happy....totally in love.....and just for kicks?

    LEFT

Sometimes life sucks....but still.....I burn....the flame flickers on............

  • great song!!... love how it gets more intense as it goes then it chills back out...

  • This song is to Underrated compared to Possum Kingdom! This song needs more boost. I think some game company should use this song in a major game or put it into a movie just to draw some more attention to this song 45,485 views to low we need more!

  • I BURN THE AIR YOU BREATHE

    Fucking awesome song.

  • you take me away to magical places todd

  • @sevastra444

if you listen to the guitar its pretty much notes and style takin directly from Joey Santiago the guitarist for the pixies. as a musician its easy to notice these things in this band as well as other bands. its like taking a shirt tearing it apart and stiching it back up, wearing it, then saying "this is NEW!"

  • @tyranttode As a musician its easy to notice that ALL bands and ALL current Genres were created by past influence. Everything has been done in music, whether you've heard it or not, all we CAN do is change it to make it 'ours'. I'm a drummer/guitarist, my gf is a music major flute/piano/vocals etc, I've heard her say this many times. They have a couple songs which are questionably close for example Tyler and Where is my mind, but others that sound nothing like the Pixies. COPY is too far :)

  • @tyranttode your an idiot.

  • @TheKlevorOne

Uh, you spelled "you're' wrong, You're the idiot.

  • @envirovore I like the cut of your jib

  • @envirovore Maybe he was referring to the "an idiot" you keep in your pocket? Your an-idiot.

  • ROcK On TOAdIeS

  • best part starts at 1:59 and ends at 3:32

  • they probly arent popular cuase they are a pixies clone.

  • @tyranttode as a huge fan of both bands, i don't begin to agree.

  • @tyranttode U mean like Elvis and Chuck Berry? Zeppelin and every blues artist before them? Whats next? The Pixies inspired a whole mess of bands. Who cares? Every riff you've ever heard or will hear was played by someone somewhere. Its not a contest, actually I wish more bands sounded like the Pixies, or the Toadies for that matter. Alot better than 30 Seconds to Mars or Ke$ha....

  • love this song!!!!

  • I burn.....

  • Why does every song have to have some hidden meaning? Who gives a shit? I don't care if he's smoking, not using sunscreen or burning tires... this song's f#cking awesome.

  • @MrFixedBlade funny shit dude

  • The song's about arsen.

  • this song isn't their best work, they could've done better!

  • @rockinout37 fuck you

  • Yah, eargasm.

  • I love this song!! The Toadies rock!! Wooo!

  • It can be bout smokein bud but I thought is had a double meaning. I thought it was about clensing your spirit. Maybe its about smokin out and religion. A double entondra maybe? Not sure i spelled entondra right :)

  • this song is about smokin doobies if you listen its all about smokin roaches

  • 1 person missed the like option

  • i remember when they came out with rubberneck. i was 16. they still rock. Thank you Toadies

  • August 28!! WILL BE THERE

  • i burn!

  • seen them times .. they are awesome....and this song makes me wanna do naked jump n jacks and sing yankee doodle

  • Eargasm

  • Eargasm.

  • underappreciated ong from an underappreciated band

  • My Bro got to see them in concert(Before i liked them) And meet the singer,Now i am soo Jealous! There pretty awsome though.

  • its a shame that so many 90's bands were overlooked and underrated many oft todays bands could learn from these bands.

  • I love love love The Toadies!!!! Awesome song bottom line!

  • i totally agree that these guys are way underestimated!!!!! they are a great band....

  • i think this song is deep enough that many meanings can be found in the lyrics

  • anyone notice that the line:

"fire is bright, fire is clean"

    is from Fahrenheit 451?

  • One of my favorite songs on this album. Maybe even more than possum kingdom tbh

  • I really dig the story he tells throughout the song. Man discovers fire and that initiates set events that lead to religion, modern society and so forth.

Feel the lick of bad religion, the finish and the start. In the beginning we were smarter and fire was heaven sent. Through the ages we got stupid, now we must repent.

  • This song is amazing. I love the chords used, it sounds very... mean in a sort of sense. Not anrgy, but bitter.

Toadies were one of the most underrated bands of the 90s.

  • primal i would call it, specially the drums

  • @dpg2578 ugh no kidding, primally awesome!!

  • i miss the way I felt at this time and place when this album came out

  • I was 8 when this sng came out.....havent listened to it since i was young. Its even better now tht I know what its about lol

  • TOADIES ARE FUCKING AMAZING i saw them in 08 omfg that was a moving day lol one of the top concerts ive been too

  • GOOD SHIT

  • i got this album when it came out and i loved it immediately. i did notice a few months later though, that it was one of the most popular used cd's in the cheap bin. what the hell people!!! one of the most underated albums of the 90's.

  • Listening to this song used to be a religious experience for me.

  • fuck yes dude it is

  • i see this song as someone doing something that he or she has regretted, and after doing this, they have seen hell as a cause of that.

  • This song isn't particularly good imo, But it's strangely hypnotic...

  • this song is a fuckin' mantra! great album, great band.

  • I think that they didn't have a very good publicist.

  • I don't understand why The Toadies aren't way more popular, because they should be!

  • I know :(

  • seriously? They were huge. Fact is they were a 90's band. Most bands from the 90's are now washed up. Thats music.

  • @Stavideo

mainly because they can't seem to stay together, tour, or put out albums with any kind of consistency.

  • @lankycranky I disagree. They are still just as popular as they were when they came out, if not more. The Toadies STILL SELL OUT a lot of their shows. They have been back together since 2006 (or around there) and have gone on several tours since then, both in the states and Europe. Not to mention they have a new CD coming out in just a couple of weeks. They've broken up once or twice, and don't rotate members half as frequently as other mainstream bands/groups.

  • @Stavideo unfortunately the lyrics of this song are probably the reason why they never got as famous as they should have been. Sounds to me like they touched one of this "bad religion"s nerves =/

  • @Stavideo well they are burden brothers now!!! almost all the same ppl and they sing all of the same song!

  • @Stavideo yea but maybe its better this way. theyre one of those gems that not as many people know about.

  • @Stavideo Well their grungy playing style didn't fit well with the post grunge era of music they were in,

  • @halflife213 WHO THE FUCK CARES WHAT ERA THEY WERE IN??! If they play music, and they play it well, i will respect them. They played GRUNGE. They played GOOD GRUNGE. They played it dirty, mean, and fucking true. I respect them for keeping a style of music alive that had been deemed 'dead' by fagots like you.

  • @BruceLeDouche I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you, you asked the question and I answered it.

I like the band *a bit* less then you do, seriously, Toadies are awesome! But that's the truth...

  • @Stavideo Prob because interscope took all their money

  • @Stavideo They are popular in Texas. And that's all they needed. :D Dia De Los Toadies!

  • I burn

    The Air

    You Breathe

  • cant wait for dia de los toadies

    it will rock

  • this song pleasured my ear pussy

  • lol @ this song pleasured my ear pussy.

  • 2xtwice that happened to me when I went lookin for my Pleather : (

  • Very cool song to play the chord arrangement is unique

  • the singer look like skinny seth rogan

  • I've been having a serious Toadies jones lately, so I dug around awhile and found my old tape case. I opened it and saw Rubberneck, pulled it out, and the case was empty. So I'm pretty pissed. But thanks for posting this.

  • i hate when that happens

  • yeah, that sucks. totally deserved a higher profile

  • I am free tonight. And I burn.

  • Texas legends such a favororite

  • God damn. If I were a professional fighter in a championship bout I'd come out to this song. The intensity makes you prepared for war.

  • fuckin moto.

  • i agree the alpha and omega!!! lloove this song!!!

  • That most ancient and original religion of fire haha. The Toadies have obviously done their homework. The Alpha and the Omega...

  • sounds great in my ears.....

  • saw them at the bronco bowl right after hell below/stars above came out, one of the best shows i've ever seen!

  • I like how this is a Toadies video post and yet there is a running commentary slash debate ensuing on such variegated topics as nut sacks, mainstream radio tastes, literature by Kurt Vonnegut Jr, and the differences between radio in Ohio versus New Jersey. Phew.

Indeed the Toadies fan base is a motley crew! (No pun intended, haha)

  • Seen these guys in 96 in Philly ( Electric Factory) Great Band

  • man toadies are awesome.. too bad Youtube doesn't have the music videos for Jigsaw girl, luck be a lady and Mr.Love ..

  • Vaden Todd Lewis kicks hella ass! Not sure why he's not more well known! The Live Shows Are so intense and just as well as the studio version the true mark of a good band! Unlike the weak shite panywaste bands out in the main-stream today!

  • I've seen 'em three times (gonna be 4 in october) and i can honestly say, next to rage this is the best live show i've ever seen

  • don't eat only what they feed you...we started out as hunter gatherers...don't get complacent...keep searching for more until your sack doesn't have room for what they try to shove down your throat...i'm rarely away from music & i haven't purposely listened to the radio in 5+ years... .oO0*TOADIES-ROCK*0Oo.

  • Everyone should read Fahrenheit 451.

  • i like the Toadies, I only know of the songs from rubberneck. but i listen to those alot.

  • saw the toadies last weekend it was just as cool as seeing rage against the machine right after

  • this is a great fucking band.

    i love this song.

even though its real easy to play on guitar.

    but still AMAZING!!

  • apparently theres only a few toadies fans cause i commented three months ago and still see it. the toadies fucking rock

  • Its very sad, the toadies are head and shoulders better than most bands out today

  • true...this just isn't one of their more famous songs. Away, Possum Kingdom, and Tyler are the only somewhat well known ones unfortunately. Hopefully their new albm will get a lot of radio play.

  • erm i come from the water? i hear it like twice a day on the radio.

  • well...not sure where you live but i can assure you that no radio stations in the central New Jersey area play much Toadies at all, never heard I Come From The Water anyway.

  • lulz deprived area. im from ohio though. they like em here i guess.

  • suppose. most of the NY stations play Foo Fighters, Nirvana, RHCP...pretty normal stuff. Nothing really out of the box.

  • I looooooooooove this song!

  • hey fuck you riggen

  • toadies!

  • the first comment on this video

  • Its not even a comment if you dont say anything. Retard.
