@digger65uk Birds actually enjoy living in captivity as long as they're played with and given attention (something which, unfortunately, not all pet birds get). They are very social animals and bond well with humans.

My bird likes living with me. I sing to it, snuggle with it, feed it cereal, and let it watch videos of other birds on youtube.

Of course, taking birds OUT of the rainforest to sell as pets is a horrible practice and should be stopped.

Your parrot is a Blue-Fronted Amazon (Amazona aestiva xanthopteryx) and mine is a Blue fronted Amazon (Amazona aestiva) the difference is the shoulder, my amazon has red shoulder and yours has yellow shoulder.

Uhm the problem with most domesticated birds is the fact that they were born, and bred in captivity. They have lost any instincts that would help them survive in the wild. Apart from that alot of the birds we have in our homes are birds whose habitats are being destroyed, so it's actually helping preserve species.

The best way to teach your bird new words it to talk to him all the time. Birds love drama so the more dramatic you can be the more likely he'll learn. I'm not very talkative with my birds but they have learned to repeat their favorite phrases. One says, "good birdie" and the other says, "pretty bird."
