  • Andy Griffith made a movie I think in the 80's about Alcoholism does anyone know what that might be called.I saw it in a detox once and it's pretty good.

  • But yes ..... I like tea

  • How typical of an obamatron to resort to name calling and bluster. Sorry , but that's not going to work this election.

I like how the ( sympathetic ) left always says ....... I hope you get sick ..... Etc .. As a response to the rational opinion that they should be responsible for their own lives.

I don't expect you are anyone to take care of me . I work , save and prepare. You people whine , and cry about what you don't have and want something for nothing. Much like a child or teen . But, ce

  • Very powerful movie for Andy. He is so terrific and he nailed that role. :)

  • The movie showed how a personality can shape and mould public opinion, whether he is a politician or a celebrity. It makes no difference which side of the political fence lhe's on. At the time I saw this with my parents, my father made comments about the similarity to Arthur Godfrey who was getting bad press about firing Julius LaRosa and trying to manage the personal lives of his cast members.

  • That was kind of irresponsible of them to keep making him drunk for a movie.

  • Andy you where epic in that film.. I wished he could have shown more of his dark side.

  • Why wouldn't he be for ObamaCare?

This entire movie was the inspiration for Obama's campaign strategy.

  • @roshawnmarkwees more like an inspiration for Fox news

  • @zu0832 b.s. - the media somehow never mentioned Obama went to Harvard ...geeee I wonder why? So Obama would come off as "just folks" to everyone ... this film is purely out of the democrat /Clinton/Obama handbook.

  • @anonyms404 sure they mentioned Obama went to Harvard...were you not watching? And the anti-government mantra about Social Security being for lazy people("Daniel Boone did'nt need it") is straight out of the right wing playbook. The audience who supported Lonesome Roads(Andy Griffith's character)were depicted as ignorant redneck hayseeds...not exactly the people who would be supportive of Obama.

  • A movie that is still relevant today. Simply a masterpiece with a terrific performace by Andy Griffith.

  • @djb0110 just watched this for the first time. completely agree with you. wow. so ahead of its time. what is even more perplexing is how kazan could have made such a groundbreaking film after testifying on HUAC in 1952. guess it was his mea culpa ?

  • sad that now he's a proponent of OBAMA CARE.

  • @safesax98 *sigh*

What the hell does that have to do with anything?

  • @CheekandBluster .....well that only makes me respect Andy even more....shows he cares about American society.

  • @CheekandBluster ...everything - it diminishes him as the decent, non-political, "everybody's friend" he was. Now he's just a partisan and can't be viewed the same way. So get real.

  • @anonyms404 OK, hang on: have you seen A FACE IN THE CROWD? I'm guessing not, because if you had you'd know that it is *about* a celebrity whose real personality runs counter to his public image.

As for Griffith's opinions ruining your perception of him in TV shows or movies... why have a political litmus test for actors in things you watch? I heard Ed Asner say things I really disagree with, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy watching UP. You know?

  • @CheekandBluster well, that's a part of the text. but it's ABOUT a media personality that cynically manipulates the people as 'his sheep' and hews to right wing ideology as it's easier to sell, and obiviously He becomes very useful to that side It's about someone subverting and twisting the process of democracy for power and personal gain.

  • @anonyms404 so taking care of the elderly's infirmaties, or the disabled's, is just partisan. IE: one side thinks it's a bad idea. Thank you for clarifying that for us.

  • @CheekandBluster I agree, everything now brakes down to political BS. You cant discuss this fine film without some fool chiming in .

  • @safesax98 sad that close minded idiots like yourself have to spew your political bile over everything i hope you lose your healthcare and then get horribly sick! you think george w and dick cheney or any of the rest of the nazi..oh sorry republican elitists are gonna help you?anyhow fantatic piece of cinema whod thought andy grifth had acting chops...

  • @safesax98: Great that he's not a Bush-Baby !

  • @safesax98 Don't you think Andy and the directors were protraying how evil the republicans have always been with this film?? Or are you just another misinformed tea party moron??

  • @safesax98 Well said. Tis sad. I hear Andy is hard to work with anyway.

  • hmmm interestin bit...excellent job AG ^_^

  • He's hilarious. :-) Love that movie. Super happy they are saving it in the National Registry.

  • what a remarkable film, strange to see AG in so frightening a role. Well done too. :)
