  • I see no Dio, I see no Ozzy, why are we having the Ozzy-Dio discussion here, how about a nice Gillan-Ozzy or Gillan-Dio discussion or, better yet, no arguing over stupid trivial things like who's better at all

  • ok...i'm a Freak of Dio's Stuff but this Song could only performed by Ozzy

  • Ooooh what joy! Gillan is so good in Sabbath! And it's nice to see Gillan and Iommi together. Tony's guitar solo is awesome!

  • To me Ozzy's voice blends in with Black Sabbath even if Dio had a stronger voice.. I never heard Ian Gillan until now.. unless I did and did not know it... Ozzy for me always with my fave Original band.

  • 1° DIO

    2° Ian Gillan

    3° Rob

    4° Ozzy

  • @asnyui Your a dickead

  • those screams of heaven and hell in the end are awesome, fuck yeah

  • Ozzy is batter than Dio, shut up

  • i am sorry bit that, but DIO was better than ozzy in all the musical aspects...

  • This song misses an Ozzy.

  • ozzy is better

  • The original voice is right. But the best..mmm i think that so much people all over the world believe that Dio was and will be forever and ever the best one in Black Sabbath!!! Let's the people choice...

  • The screaming vocal melody at the end of this song is chilling -- CLASSIC GILLAN!

  • Deep Sabbath ha ha ha

  • I think my head will explode the next time someone calls Ian Gillan "Gillian".

  • @dwlnk my mom does all the time, and ian gillan was her teen idol! haha

  • UHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • gillian sucks!!!!! damm

  • Seriously? I think Ian is the better singer than Ozzy. Overall.

  • I really miss ozzy here

  • @Nascablowsstill

it doesnt matter who'se better singer technicly now. Ozzy simply sounds the best and in my opinion he's the best BS singer

  • @Hubertoooso I didn't say technically, i said OVERALL. IMHO he is the best EVER.

  • Just enjoy the music

  • @jzsking Hi - yes Newcastle UK North East - Devon's a nice place.

Oh definitely - Gillan is a great singer - but Ozzy and Dio outshine him in Black Sabbath - but in Deep Purple he was magnificent - for sure :D

Where are you based out of interest?

  • @jzsking

It is shite, like - you're absolutely right.

  • No he wasn't the same, or as good but he was a great singer. The 3rd best of Sabbath. Those other guys were hard acts to follow.

  • all i can say is that at least Tony is playing with his guitar tuned to D! pre-MOR songs in C# sound god-awful!

  • I haven't listened to Ian much but this is great. I don't care what people think black sabbath is still black sabbath without ozzy. He was great but he sold out eventually. Iommi and butler are the heart of the band.

  • There are keyboards in the background? That sounds like an awesome cover! Except it's the actual band playing... But that's why I love this period! They change the sound, but keep the spirit; that's like listening to another band, covering the band in a different way, but keeping the same spirit!

  • @linkdeminsk I have to disagree.

you can't call it "the actual band" since the only thing that is black sabbath here is the name and Iommi.

  • @wgri and Geezer.

  • @wgri I would count Geezer as sabbath aswell.

Born again was probably the most sabbath sounding album they ever had in my opinion aswell.

  • @mrfenderbenderman I was sure that Geezer wasn't there for the Ian years, I'll have to recheck my sources.

  • @wgri He was definitely there; it wasn't until the aftermath of this tour that the band fell apart and Iommi began considering a solo career. The next Sabbath album, Seventh Star, features an all-new lineup, with Dave Spitz replacing Geezer.

  • The song is made for Ozzys vocal. Thats why so many people arent happy with other singers doing covers. Its like Ozzy trying to sing Stairway to heaven.

  • Tony Iommi carried on Black Sabbath without Ozzy he'll he was the only original member at times. Why do they have to wait for each other get back with Ian Gillan!

  • Fuck Ozzy, make a Black Sabbath Reunion with Ian Gillian!!

  • @caioenzo wow, i was going to say the exact same thing haaha

  • @caioenzo are you mad bro ozzy its more better!!

  • CRAP COMPARED TO OZZY.

  • chi è quello a destra???????????

  • I'm born in this Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Fionn83 Born Again

  • I just considered the irony of this. The guy who sang Jesus's part on "superstar" singing a song originally sung by the Ozzman? haha He does a great job.

  • Ian has an amazing voice but Paranoid is just for ozzy...

  • I kinda like this version better. I dont know maybe just because I'm a Deep Purple fan and don't really like Ozzy ...

  • Those lyrics were correct. The singing wasn't any worse than Ozzy's. Except maybe the Heaven and Hell intro. Gillan gets a bit carried away with his falsettos. Not nearly as bad as Glen Hughes, though.

  • gillan is great but not paranoid

  • He's fantastic, long lives Rock and Roll and Ozzy and Ian Gillan.

  • Gillaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!!!

  • Ozzy is my favorite vocalist, but Ian is amazing!!!

  • @MaGicSb3 Excuse me, but Ozzy is nothing compared with Ian...sorry, but it's the truth!!! LONG LIFE METAL!!!

  • Ian Gillan did a great job singing with Black Sabbath. I have the Born Again album, and it rocks. I have also heard that Ozzy himself loves the Born Again album. Those who do not have it should buy it and give it a listen.

  • EEEEEPIIIIIIICCCCC !!!!!!!!!!

  • me cojioni!!!!

  • Best vocals ever.Ian Gillan!

  • not only the singing changed after Ozzy left, but also the sound of this band is so different from the orginal 70's Sabbath i enjoyed in my youth, went to see them in 1980 and it was like seeing a different band, the new material didnt have anything to do with their previous works, thats why I didn't bother picking any of their stuff after '78.

  • Black Sabbath and Deep Purple have always been my two favorite bands,I have a lot of respect for both Purple and Guillan, but this has to be the worst performance by Ive ever hear by both Guillan and Sabbath.as much as Guillan is the epitome of a Hard Rock singer and a better singer than Ozzy, hes not the man for this job,its actually no one's job but Osbourne's, because Sabbath isn't Sabbath without him.

  • look im like the biggest ozzy fan ever, but stop being so damn ignorant, Ian Gillian used to be one of the best vocalists out there, i know this song has to be ozzy, but ian isnt bad at all

  • Gillan sings this better, than Ozzy does these days, that's for sure. My great grandfather who's in a nursing home sings 'Paranoid' better than Ozzy these days, too. Gillan was great in Sabbath, so was Dio. Get your heads out if the Osbournes' a**es. Ozzy used to be great, now....well he is just sad to watch and listen to...and Sharon....well she is the daughter of Don Arden. Being a c**t, goes in the family I guess.

  • @SilverTounge85 I saw Ozzy in concert this year, he did Paranoid fairly well (not as well as he used to when he was in his 20's, but still acceptable). He is definitely not as physically ruined as people say.

  • horrible, worst vocalist ever

  • @dmarins are u stupid do you know who Ian Gillan is??

  • @Jovalle93 yes I know and he still sucks

  • @dmarins horrible? you don't know what the fuck you are talking about....

  • at 0:51 i almost cried in disgust.

  • omg I recognise only Tony and Ian......who are those two guys

  • @janborrowitz geezer on the left and bev bevan who took over drums from bill ward after the album was complete

  • I've heard Born Again and I thought it was quite good.

  • nice ... great ... fantastic... Black Sabbath is always perfect, no matter who's singing

Each different singer shows a different face of the band, all perfect!

thanks to Geezer Butler and Tony Iommi.

  • irony, rithchie blackmore left deep purple and formed rainbow with dio, then dio left to join sabbath, after he left sabbath a few years laterthe lead singer of deep purple joins sabbath in a few tours, ironic isn't it?

  • purple sabbath?

  • thank you sooooooooooo much fucker. i love ian and love all things SABBATH

  • Dam i hope the rumors are True Iommi Gillan Butlerand Appice reunite for a balck sabbath tour in 2011, Never seen Sabbath and Iommi Gillan and Geezer is a fave line up man would be insane to hear Black Sabbath or Born Again perform Paranoid Disturbing The Priest and other classics.

  • Gillan has a better voice than Ozzy, the reason why Ozzy is so successful is because he is quite good at writing songs. In terms of pure voice though I take Gillan 10 times out of 10.

  • Hey uploader, thanks for all these Gillan era live Sabbath performances.

  • he sounds like Iron maidens singer

  • Only Ozzy can sing this..

  • Pretty good quality recording considering it was recorded at the DCU Center or at the time The Centrum.

  • Fairly good version, though I still believe the best non-Ozzy vocal performance on Paranoid was given by Vince Neil. Check it out. It's on "Bat Head Soup", the Ozzy tribute album.

  • Gillan done a great job with this song. It's also really interesting to hear it in a genuinely different accent than Ozzy's.

  • @davenyc

Because I've had this same goddamn "debate" 29140832897 times with other trolls and it's fucking stupid. I don't give a shit if you like Ozzy better. Hell, I do actually think he's the best for Sabbath, but that doesn't automatically mean everything else they did was a pile of shit either.

Obviously the ban was perfect, considering the troll you are and the mess you made on this comment section.

  • Gillan is doing a great job here, I actuallly think it's better than Ozzy. Ian Gillan is much better classier singer

  • My parents went this show haha, from southbridge like 20 min away

  • PARANOID IS ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE SONGS, I HAVE TO SAY THAT IAN GILLAN'S VERSION (THOUGH SOME MAY DISAGREE!) IS VERY GOOD, HE'S JUST AS GOOD A VOCALIST AS OZZY. NEVER WOULD I HAVE IMAGINED THAT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN PERFORMED (BY OZZY AND TONI IOMI)AT THE QUEEN'S GOLDEN JUBILEE CONCERT BACK IN 2002 WAS OIN E OF THE BEST PARTS OF THE CONCERT.

  • A mi esta versión me parece realmente cojonuda, Gillan hace gala de un gran registro agudo, me parece de las mejores versiones de Paranoid.

  • un pezzo di storia del Rock!!!! <3

  • I think that the songs made for Ozzy sings be good with the Ozzy voice and the same for the Ian's songs and Dio's songs.

Sorry my bad english, I speak only portuguese.

Eu acho que as musicas feitas para o Ozzy cantar ficam boas apenas com o Ozzy cantando e o mesmo vale para as musicas do Ian Gillian e do Dio, só ficam boas com seus respectivos cantores!

  • Not bad! I expected worse! :)

    Yeah, really nice!

  • @Artmag85 me too! came waiting for crap, but this is good!

  • IF THIS SUCKED SO BAD THAN WHY DOES OZZY LIKE THE STUFF THEY DID WITH GILLAN. OZZY'S DECISION OVER RULES ALL OF YOURS

  • Gillan made ruins the great work of Black Sabbath. I don't care for Glenn Hughes or Ray Gillen but they all are so much better than than the crap Ian Gillan produced

  • In Satan's name, PLEASE listen to the music and stop acting -or commenting- like brainless idiots!

  • @davidburton13666 In 'Satans' name?... idiot, Take the '666' out of your name. You're commenting about brainless idiots yet you pretend to be a satanist or just a pure moron?

    Sort yourself out.

  • @davidburton13666 IAN GILLIAN OZZY OSBOURNE ROB HALFORD, REAPER OWENS...NEVER NO ONE OF THEM WILL SING THIS SONG LIKE DIO (R.I.P)

  • Comment removed

  • @volkulaku I THINK NOT ! SURELY DIO WAS ONE OF THE GREAT ONES (I LOVE HIS TIME WITH RAINBOW)BUT THIS IS AN OZZY SONG..

  • @vader805 Gillian did it better!

  • @vader805 CAPS LOCK STUCK,AY ??? ME TOO :DD

  • @volkulaku Dio was better singer than Ozzy, but Ozzy is the original (and best) voice of Black Sabbath. There's no denying that.

  • @andybirger unfortunely Ozzy was the former vocalist, i agree but never the best!! It should be amazing if Gillian or Dio start black sabbath like frontmen.

  • @volkulaku But nobody can sing the first records of Sabbath like Ozzy did. Dio was great on his time, but I dont think that Ian fit in the band. Ozzy for Sabbath, Dio for Heaven & Hell and Gillan for Deep Purple.

  • @andybirger Ozzy's vocal register is not as high as Dio's or Gillian. In fact, is the less gifted of them. What i can admire from Ozzy's is that he start singing heavy metal when world does not know about it. And Dio ever gives 110% of his performance in each band, time and song...

  • @volkulaku But letting Dio sing Ozzy's songs is like Johnny Solinger singing in Skid Row. Sebastian is the man, and so is Ozzy.

  • @volkulaku No1 can sing this song better then Ozzy man...

    Ozzy = Paranoid

    Paranoid = Ozzy

  • @volkulaku Ripper Owens.

  • Gillan might of said something about money when he was pissed about the album sounding like a turd, but I've never heard that in any recent interview when he was being objective about it. I've heard the account of being in the pub drunk, numerous times, including from Gillan himself.

So, unless you're going to provide some legitimate proof, Alham, I would suggest you shut the fuck up about it already.

  • Gilllan version is better than Dios version.

  • if you look closely, bev looks like luke skywalker

  • In my opinion, and its my opinion,

    1-Megadeth version

2- This version(i love those screams)

    3- Ozzy's version

    4- Motley Crue version

    5- Rob Halford version

  • @MetalCheva fuck crue

  • @MetalCheva The cruë never did a version of this. You're probably thinking about the track George Lynch (Dokken guitarist) did with Vince Neil on vocals.

  • @ManInDarkAlley Ups my mistake, youre right, youtube lies

  • Ronnie James Dio and Ian Gillan are probably rocks greatest singers OF ALL TIME! Thats not totally based off their time in Black Sabbath. Dio's music with Rainbow and DIO for that matter are breath taking. Obviously, Gillan's time with Deep Purple. As much as I like Rainbow and DIO, I still think Dio was best in Black Sabbath! Anyway, two of rocks greatest IMO! Robert Plant, Freddie Mercury, Dio, and Gillan are my top picks!

  • @ijemekkos4life absolutely Dio was better in BS, he was an amazing vocalist and he brought new life and a heavier dimension to the band.. I have been listening to RJD's stuff with The Elves and Elf, great music, so was his work in the early 60's that guy could sing anything!

  • @ijemekkos4life GENERALLY YOU ARE RIGHT, BUT NEVER IN ROCK voice fit so perfectly as Dio's and RB's Stratocaster.

  • I love Gillan.

  • ozzy is the best

  • SABBATH WOULD HAVE BEEN AWSOME WITH IAN, IAN SO MUCH BETTER, DO LIKE OZZIE , ANY ROCK SINGER HAS TO BE ABLE TO SCREAM AND SOUND GOOD , VERY MASCULINE LIKE IAN ,, SORRY ABOUT THE OTHERS , THERE ARE QUITE A FEW THAT TRIED AND SOUNDED LIKE SHIT, SORRY COVERDALE YOU COULDN'T SCREAM WHEN YOU SANG BURN ,,, GLENN HUGHES DID ALL THE SCREAMING , DIDN'T SOUND TOO BAD

  • @ava5552091 Thats cause Coverdale was busy sounding too awesome

  • reading those comments....hahahahah u made my day :D

  • AAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH

  • booooo!!

  • @silverbasscross Gillan's a douchebag? u must've never lsnd to In Rock or any Purple album he sings on for that matter

  • Gillan doing "Heaven and Hell" live in 1983 sounded pretty friggin' radical to... This here version of "Paranoid" is also radical...

    MR.BILL

  • Ian Gillan is the worlds greatest rock-singer. No doubt about that!!!

  • Thanks for posting this. I love Born Again and I think gillan sounds so cooI. I love hearing him do this stuff. Ozzy had his time and it is magical, but I'm so glad this happened too.

  • ha! almost got me there.... after this performance, Johnny must be really pissed. I've seen outmatching performances before, but this is a disgrace!

But, come on mr. O! Don't cry! Sure, youre the man for the song.... We have 40 faggots agreeing with me.

  • Ozzy and black sabbath need each other. By their selves are not the same.

  • Ozzy was never a good singer, but he was a showman so he was seen great and all, but Gillan just beats his vocals...

  • thats good but not as good as ozzy's version

  • i don´t feel paranoid without ozzy

  • @bicho14topo totally agree, man. but this gillan version is surpresinly good. usually i dislike other singers singing ozzy stuff, but this is very good.

  • @bicho14topo I feel like this is a great rendition, but I agree; it just cant be quite true without Ozzy.

  • man black sabbath tried to put singer in ozzy ´s place!!! but than cant submit ozzy Ia singen is a great singer put ozzy is the only singer of sabbath

  • awesome

  • Jesus Christ people, why is there argument over whether Ian, Ozzy, or Dio is better? This is Black Sabbath, and Tony Iommi IS Black Sabbath.

  • 0:43 Really? Satisfy? It's PACIFY.

  • @thewolffebros

    Both work pretty well, actually.

  • ian gillan rules

  • I do insist: OZZY fuckin´ rules supreme and sovereign in SABBATH!

  • sounds really good!

  • amazing

  • i saw them play live at reading festival in 83

  • Fuck it lacks all(including ungod Ozzzy´s vocalz)

  • @MrDodstink eh Ozzy fits the genre but we all have to face it, he just isn't a great singer. he just fits the music.

  • @davidmumma66 wow... how much did you smoke ??? did you really just smoke yourself stupid?

  • @davidmumma66 Thats always been my opinion. Im as big a fan as the next guy, but Ive never thought him a good singer. Same with Kai Hansen, he writes great songs...but Ive never liked his voice.

  • Think Gillan was with Black Sabbath for a year?

  • Wow I never knew I.G. sang with Sabbath. Was he doing guest vocals or did actually join the band briefly.

  • @throatgorge2 He was an official band member and even recorded an album with Black Sabbath (the "Born Again" album). ^_^

  • eu amo o vocal do ian guillan

  • er, not good

  • Must be nice for Sabbath to have had at least one decent singer. On the other hand, Gillan was way to good for this shit.

  • @skarpskjutarn Another armcair music critic

  • fuck I understand people have favorite sabbath singers, but seriously give credit where credit is due. Gillan does a pretty good dio and ozzy. and that's saying a lot.

  • im gonna go smash my face this sucks so bad!!!

  • Tony could not drown him out effectively enough. A shame.

  • @deNNyTheWiseMAN1

Funniest thing I've heard all day.

  • @deNNyTheWiseMAN1 Dude, you DO know that Tony Iommi plays solos like this just by looking at his unplugged guitar?

  • @deNNyTheWiseMAN1 youre a moron.

  • @deNNyTheWiseMAN1

If only you had been around 40 years ago to give Mr. Iommi advice on his sound. Maybe he'd have had a more successful career. I guess he'll just have to settle for being a legend that's influenced millions of players.

    P.S.

Mark TREMONTI, since I'm feeling picky about it.

  • @deNNyTheWiseMAN1

haha you're one very funny guy!

  • @deNNyTheWiseMAN1 You are talking about Mr Iommi. The inventor of heavy metal. His guitar sounds fine, that guitar sound is what every single metal guitarist who came after listened to and tried to imitate. Tremonti among them.

  • Its not the same

  • 561 are not real Black Sabbath fans!

  • Gillan is who he is...as Martin, Osbourne, and Dio WAS.....I'm next.

  • Are you from my brain (quiet), AOOOOOOAAAAAOOOOOH

  • Gillan is way better, but this is Ozzy's song. It's weird to hear him sing this

  • Gillan, Hughes, Ozzy, Dio, Black Sabbath is like a dragon with many heads, and each blow fire of Metal
