Always being the science and especially organic chemistry geek I am, I am very glad to have stumbled across this landmine of knowledge presented here. I had to earn my degree in the days that chemists were considered "boring" or some other relative adjective. Watching these warms my heart knowing that knowledge is being spread round the world in a fun and interesting way. Of course, these videos skim the surface of all the real technicalities, but, it will encourage people to ask questions.
Is there not some sort of way the Nobel Prize could be shared amongst your team? the way you have made a small project about a subject often considered a bit poky and dangerous into a fun, educational and inspiring project is quite amazing. To an aspiring young (very) amateur chemist such as myself, these videos are a goldmine of information. Thank you most kindly, Nottingham University.
And Dr. Poliakoff, your ties are just as noteworthy as your videos. Well done.
I absolutely love these videos, I have been watching then wildly and cannot wait to take chemistry in my coming semester! The periodic table of elements defines our planet!
I usually get bored watching anything to do with chemistry as it is not my favorite subject. But for some strange reason, i sat through every second of this video admiring the way the professor presents this, and the discovery on his funny side.
Your channel is far and away my favorite channel on youtube. Your videos are a testament to what media sharing can be, not just entertaining but educational as well!
Thanks periodicvideos!!! Another great clip, and I love the extra personal insight we get into some of the characters - I reckon that (candid personalities) is a big part of the attraction and success of this awesome project. Keep them coming PLEASE! J :-)
You guys work so hard and do such a great job!!! You make chemistry fun and exciting for all!! Thank you for everything you do, you guys are all awesome and appreciated!!
@pyropakman- hi pyro. I cant remember if I've seen that one or where. I think its a metal in an acid - possibly zinc in hydrochloric, producing bubbles of hydrogen gas, which, you will be happy to know, can be burned! Anyway, if i find out I'll let ya know, and am sure someone else can help you will too - lots of clever ppl on this channel! J :-)
Here in Germany I had one day the idea to upgrade the chemistry lesson with these videos and my teacher was really surprised how much people were interested in chemistry! Today we watch sometimes in chemistry the periodic videos and it's fun!
And also we learned much more about chemistry this way then just normally without those videos!
A really,really great work !
Thanks periodic videos for this great work what made school more fun.
My eldest son is a high school science teacher who often uses creative and "odd" methods of getting his points across to his students. I am immediately sending him links to your videos, and would not be surprised if he begins using them in his classes during the coming year. GREAT stuff, and I -- as one who got a "C" in high school chemistry -- am enjoying every video and re-learning what I missed before. You have made science FUN! [...PS: I'm 52 years old]
ur videos are really great i always talk about them at school but when i tell my friends to see it they can't ur videoes are in english and lots of my friends don't understand english can you please put a arabic tittels ?

Why cant chemists make chemically things like crude oil so that we wouldnt have to wait thousands of year for plants to turn into oil and drilling for it .

I really enjoy these videos, I'm from mexico and I've also seen all of the videos. Truly a fan of the professor and the whole team! But sometimes I do wish to see longer videos with more facts about certain elements, it'll be great to see an "extension" of some kind for the rare elements.

@TheMrbunGee Hello in Latvia... i sometimes wonder if there is anyone else who has watched EVERY single video (besides me who edits them all and Professor Poliakoff who I know has watched them all!)
@periodicvideos I spent a week straight every night after work watching all the vids on all of your channels! There's many people who enjoy not only the periodic videos, but all of your videos ;) (to be honest, periodic table of videos with prof. Even though I am long out of school and will probably never use any of this knowledge, every time you post a new video it makes my day a little better!
Oh man, seeing this all at once makes me cry. Thank you so very much everyone who's worked so hard on these videos. You are a treasure to all humanity.
