  • she is his adopted daughter, they adopted her from china!

  • Hey guys, what's with this whole "adopted" discussion? God adopted us all. :D

  • Whatever you call Maria Sue, she is part of the family:)

  • Idont buy it

  • @WATSONMUTH: You don't buy what?

  • whoaaaa Will hit her? all this time i did not know..

  • @brandon10175 It was an accident. She got in the way while it was backing up and he just couldn't see her because of her small size.

  • @CrapsterZ -- he didn't back over her..... he was actually pulling INTO the driveway... she saw him and came running... Will didn't see her because she was running from behind a barn... she ran out from "behind" the barn and right into the path of his vehicle.... there was nothing anyone could do.

  • Even though someone is adopted, a family accepts him/her as their own. That's how I would see it if I adopted someone. Surprised Larry King cares what going on with a christian artist. Think he want him on the show just to talk about the death of their daughter

  • all who are saved have been 'adopted' by the Adopter. The fact that it's His 'choice' makes the adoption even more remarkable.

  • This is weird for me. I love SCC's music but I hate LK (Cos he's a tosser) I wish the Chapman's had not been sucked into LK's hunt for ratings. I would be a basket case if that had happened to my daughter.. adopted or otherwise.

  • Not the place for a religious debate, so I'll end it here. Please no comments after this.

    1. Saying everything bad happens for a reason. No - everything bad happens because someone doesn't follow God's instructions in life. We're called to be wise, follow his commandments, and love Christ with all we have.

    2. You cannot be an ex-Christian as Second John says They went out from us because they were not of us.

    3. If you have anything else to say, bring it to PM this ISN'T the place trolls.

  • Omw i am like full of tears i can barely see the kaybored god bless u im praying for u i put my faith in the lord tht he will comfort u and surround u with love

  • God's divine plan, almost all the time, will never be seen by mortal man in this life. We, as humans, can only live life in one linear direction; forward. From birth till death. God is not limited by time or mortality. In HIS realm, allowing a little girl to die (or allowing anyone young and old to die) so that others will come to Him broken and give their lives to Him is a WIN - WIN ! Then God has them all; alive, with Him, in PARADISE, for all eternity!

  • Will must be so strong to get through this and I think the only thing that could make him that strong is God and prayer. I pray for him and for the family

  • It's a tragic accident, but was apparently an honest accident. Will should have checked...but you know what, we all screw up with one thing or another in life. In this case, it had a very big consequence because a little girl lost her life. Obviously he didn't do it on purpose. The family's faith and trust in God does keep them together. But I'm not so sure this is "just one of those faith tests" people claim God throws out all the time. It's an accident. Christians are humans.

  • I have to agree with you on this and no one wants to think about this but it is a common thing for children to rushed to ER because they were backed over in their own driveway so everybody who gets behind the wheel needs to be aware of the whereabouts of any children that live in their house or playing in their yard.

  • @jmr1068204 Most of those who investigated the accident and the sibling who witnessed it have said it was not a backover, as was widely reported, but he ran into her. She was running toward him and ran in front of the car. She was too short to be seen over the bumper of the SUV. And the girls had been playing in the yard seconds before that.

  • You are simply disgusting! Please go somewhere else. You are tainting the death of this little girl and defiling the Chapmans' love for her.

  • Your an ignorant, racist nobody. Keep your stupid comments to yourself, you should be ashamed of yourself. Your life must be very pathetic to make such a rude comment at the expense of a family who has suffered such a terrible loss.

  • But their faith is unbelievable. Their love is incredible. I admire this beautiful man of God & his wonderful family. You're in my prayers. God bless you.

PS: Steven & Mary Beth, if you read this, I want you to know that my cousin is taking care of little Maria. She's teaching Maria how to play basketball and when you see her in heaven, she'll have the best jumpshot ever!

  • I've been a fan of Steven Curtis Chapman ever since I was 16 (I'm 29 now) and when I heard this, I broke down and cried. My aunt's beautiful 22-year-old daughter (my sweet cousin) had been killed just 3 months prior to Maria's death. My heart breaks for this beautiful family. Steven became my hero when he adopted these beautiful girls and now, he is really my hero. He's a warrior for Christ. What he & his family have gone through is tragic & devasting beyond belief.

  • this family is a good model, faith in God binds them..

  • Was she a twin? God Bless them.

  • @0Chelle0 She wasn't a twin, but she had a sister who was only 7 months older, and the two girls were very close, and practically raised as twins because they were so close in age.

  • it makes me wonder

when they all figured out she was hit and when they found her :(

omg this is about to make me cry and im very sorry to her brother

and shes in a better place now

  • @Katiesaywhatx13 Will knew immediately he had hit something and got out and checked and Shaoey witnessed the whole thing, so Maria had people working on her within seconds of being struck. In the time it took Shaoey to run for her parents, Will had already picked Maria up and was holding her, and Steven and Mary Beth called 911 and started CPR immediately.

  • larry king got her name name wrong

  • What a shame that you felt the need to post something like that about such a good man, and a family that is in such pain.

You will be in my prayers, even though I'm sure you won't appreciate it.

    God Bless.

  • do you really believe that?

  • Got what was coming to him? Truly you know more about his faith than you think you do, and someday, you will get yours.. I pray for you and your soul..

  • it doesnt matter what side he chooses to be on politically you heartless douche bag! he lost a piece of him, his pride and joy, his daughter, and for you to say that he had it coming just shows how low you are... im not religious and i sure as hell am not a republican but to read what you've wrote is just idiocy at it's best...

  • i don't understand why God does this to families, Steven is a Christan singer and God let this tragic thing happen to the family, and what is really sad is that Maria was running to greet her brothers and he never saw her. He must be very depressed right now

  • To me, I think people have to be careful who they blame. Death happens...it sucks, but it happens. It's always unexpected and always painful. Suffering happens whether you are Christian or not. The only difference between Christians and non-Christians is that we have someone to lean on when we're hurt and struggling.

  • Then I guess you don't understand God than?

  • @countryfan368 please enlighten me with god's divine plan which consists of getting girls under a vehicle's tire while she bleeds from every hole in her body. Just being real here.

  • @nakallo Everything happens for a reason. Ever thought about why you exist. It wasn't because of your mom and dad because if God didn't put them together. You wouldn't exist. Think about it.!

  • @countryfan368 i was born out of necessity not love, and also because my older brother died due to a miscarriage, you may think that i been an atheist for a very long time but no. I was a christian for a long time (10 years), but my desire to know the truth and usage of logic led me to atheism.

  • @nakallo thats sad :( but i guarantee you wont know the truth until you soften your heart. logic is one thing but wisdom is another.

  • @miahammfan99 I being a christian for a little over 10 years, so I been there done that. So don't bother talking to me about this nonsense.

  • I feel so bad for this family! God Bless the Chapmans

  • she is not his adopted daughter, she is his daughter

  • You're right. I fixed it:-)

  • True. But being an adopted daughter myself, I have no objection to being called adopted. The word is just used to describe how I came into the family. It doesn't make me any less a member of it. Do you understand what I mean? I know Maria Sue was the daughter of her parents' hearts and that's all that matters. This family is often in my prayers and especially Will.

  • @georgiafan11 Copy that.

  • @georgiafan11 No. It is his ADOPTED daughter. He even says that himself.

  • @georgiafan11 No. It is his ADOPTED daughter. He even says that himself.
