hey guys, I was there this weekend and I was expecting (it was my first drag racing experience so forgive my ignorance) the real fast top fuellers, ya know, the 4.something second, 300+mph cars.

Not that these weren't fast or exciting enough, but how can I see the fastest of the fastest, anyone know?

@britoca this was a nostalgia drag racing event. the fastest stuff is in the nhra full throttle series. the closest event like that is the winternationals in pamona and thats in february. nostalgia top fuel and funny cars make about 3000 horsepower and the new ones make about 8000 horsepower. nostalgia runs on a lower nitro percentage often to concerve the engines

the record in this class ,with the small tire,100"roll out ,12"wide is 5.56 et and 265 mph.

I wish they would allow bigger,wider slicks.I think they would perform so much better.

Im not trying to come off as the typical youtube expert but it would seem they wouldnt have to slip the clutch as hard to keep from smoking the tires.Seems it would also improve handleing which would result in better runs.Plus bigger slicks would look cooler.Like I said im no expert I just love dragracing.I could be completly wrong.I know theyre trying to keep the nostalgia look but how many of these look like rails from the past?Only a couple to me.

@troyg1 they would be a million times better with a better tire. they could run the engines and clutch way more aggresively, but then would be considerably faster than even the very fastest front engine dragsters from back in the day

@nitrojoe9 A better tire than the Hoosier that most of the fast cars are running now? It is the best tire we have ever had in NTF. Do you honestly think we could or should be running quicker or faster than 5.50s at 265 mph? These cars are already way faster than the originals. The car that I drove for the last 3 years ran the engine and clutch very aggressively. We ran everything to the max of it's potential and conservation was not on our minds, but winning races was. NTF needs no changes

@troyg1 oh no im not saying anybody should be running a bigger tire. the cars would probably be pushing 280 if they could run a tire like they do now. you could do it, but i dont think they should by any means. if thats what i want to see i go to the winternationals. i think they are great the way they are. im just answering somebody elses question about running a larger slick.
