Thanks navydoctrinidad for the post. I agree with all the other comments here. Ole George has outlived most of the great country singers, and he has just about outlived country music itself. YouTube is gonna help preserve these classics though. Thank God for that. Thanks again.
@randytelecaster They very well may have but I don't find them listed anywhere, George did it in 1963 then Jim Ed Brown in 1966 I think. The Statler Brothers did it in 1977. Lots of others but I don't see Reno and Smiley. By the way Don Reno is buried down the way from my home here in Virginia. He is buried in Lynchburg. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching. Charlie
That's me Navy. The glass is always half empty. LMAO. You're right we have to help keep it alive. I've taught it to my two sons and they've turned alot of there friends onto it. That makes me very proud cuz I love this music with my dieng breath.
WOW! Hear that little lift at the end. If this only went to #5 in 63 I'd like to know what was ahead of it. They're will never be anybody as GREAT as George. When he's gone it's all over for our kind of country music. How sad.
@Plymouthfury1000 I hate to say it, but here we are 47 years later. Your words are correct aren't they. There are no more Country stars such as he and there is not even a category for Country and Western anymore. That is sad but it is also why we all have to work to preserve this thing we have here called YouTube. It will keep it all alive for those of us who still want it badly.
Shannon, I love you
