In it's original form, it was written in hebrew/aramaic/greek. the church later decided to interprate it into other languages, for the ministry. That is how we have the King James version. At that time, the scribes were given a threat of death if they changed anything in the crossing over. As time has progressed, people didn't want to conform to what the bible said anymore. What many whites find offensive is the historical truth being told by blacks to each other when they neither cared nor valued blacks opinions on anything. It's suprising to listen to these same stories in the white community, and the lack of reaction from that community when a white minister says something similar.

Oh, of course. I want to smack Wright when he promotes black/white seperation, but the thing is that he doesn't think he's doing that. He believes he's doing the same thing MLK did. The majority of Wright's sermons are pretty normal Christian sermons (and he's a terrific speaker).
Here's how I like to look at it, when it comes to what Wright says. "If someone smacks you, you smack them back"...not "if someone smacks you, you smack their brother". Get me?
For example, look at the way he says "white hunters"...I get angry when I hear that, but then that was just the way he was brought up. The older generation of blacks have seen some of their loved ones abused or killed, or were even abused themselves. This is why they spew such hatred.
He singled out white hunters, although hunting is far from a white-only sport...but I can understand. You know what Imean?
Its sad to see these comments where people are freaked out that Reverend Wright is actually *thinking* about what he reads in the Bible. Before you call him unChristian, why don't you go to a Bible and check to see if what Wright is saying is true?

In it's original form, it was written in hebrew/aramaic/greek. the church later decided to interprate it into other languages, for the ministry. That is how we have the King James version. At that time, the scribes were given a threat of death if they changed anything in the crossing over. As time has progressed, people didn't want to conform to what the bible said anymore. So they started reinterprating it, and changing it so it fit them. Psa 53:1

For those of you unfamiliar with either Africa and the bible. Jeremiah Wright is preaching from the gospel. He is also speaking about traditional and true African stories. What many whites find offensive is the historical truth being told by blacks to each other when they neither cared nor valued blacks opinions on anything. It's suprising to listen to these same stories in the white community, and the lack of reaction from that community when a white minister says something similar.

It indicts the religion and culture of its authors in prohibiting women from performing many functions. It is beyong desingenuous and absolutely deceitful for this individual not to mention that to have credibility in this environment, the authors would be male, yet women play very significant roles in the new testament.

Perhaps the biblical scriptures were liberating to women of that time- but by our standards, it is not very supportive of feminist-womanist ideals. The reason the hunter is white is because it is an African fable told in Africa about the perception of white hunters that Africans saw with heads hanging on walls and weapons, etc. The men in the bible weren't black-but I think that was irrelevant. Funny, people say blacks are racially sensitive. Perhaps we all are & that's ok!

As for history, Abe Lincoln said that you can fool all the people some of the time, or some all the time, but not all the people all the time. To be fair, he didn't say that the victims deserved it, nor did he imply it. He was commenting only on America's foreign policies, that's all. He wasn't giving anyone personal blame, he blamed the country in general for not having or trying to have a more humble foreign policy.
I don't agree with all of what this man says, nor do I agree with his religion, but please don't make him out to be the mindless cultist that he's not.

When you can make an analogy between the attack on New York as similar to the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and have people yelling their agreement, that is cleaver. It is similar, in that the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were aimed at the innocent civilians. He mentions Pearl Harbor, but then he acknowledges that bombing the many, many innocents in Hiroshima/Nagasaki was not the right response...and that action demonized America. He was right about that. Instead of killing the men directly responsible, we bombed the innocent.
That's the point. Though I agree he generalizes and simplifies it too much...he's just not anti-american.

Oh, of course. I want to smack Wright when he promotes black/white seperation, but the thing is that he doesn't think he's doing that. He believes he's doing the same thing MLK did. The majority of Wright's sermons are pretty normal Christian sermons (and he's a terrific speaker).
Here's how I like to look at it, when it comes to what Wright says. "If someone smacks you, you smack them back"...not "if someone smacks you, you smack their brother". Get me?

For example, look at the way he says "white hunters"...I get angry when I hear that, but then that was just the way he was brought up. The older generation of blacks have seen some of their loved ones abused or killed, or were even abused themselves. This is why they spew such hatred.
