@wintercat2 Ok...how exactly does bass "ruin" music? It's a pretty common instrument in almost 100% of songs. Your comment would've made more sense had you said "I don't like music"
@MrGrunge99 Yeah I have a friend I play music with that plays bass, and it really pisses him off at the small role given to the bass in most modern music. One time someone told him while we were playing that the bass was too loud, and he went off. Dr. Dog has creative bass lines like Paul played in the beatles. Not too complicated, but definitely interesting to listen to.
@SecludedMemory Why do people think that if you go to a big label your sellin out . Thats not always true. Hvae of getin on these labels is how you sell yourself. If you sell yourself like you need them then they have the upper hand. If they know you don't need them, like dr, dog doesn't. the band has the upper hand. Dr. Dog has amazin moment. I know that labels are on them and probably have been for years.

As I watch this video, the hit counter is 49,634. . . . Not what I would call a huge success, in YouTube terms. Comments like yours make me sad. To get angry about a band getting "baught" by a major label is like a weird, hipster form of avarice. Why wouldn't you wish success on talented people? Very rarely does a band/musician change his//her/their sound for a label; usually they just want something new. Don't hold success and innovation against them!
@matthewjgoodman In YouTube terms; We're talking about a site where someone like "Fred" is among the most successful.
Wealth and success don't go hand-in-hand. In terms of talent and dedication of their fans, they're INCREDIBLY successful. ALL of their shows sell out, and demand is constantly on the rise. As far as bands not changing their sound; once a contract is signed, sometimes they have no say in the matter. The corporate world of music is a fucked up place. Music is NOT about the $.
@matthewjgoodman yes! you're exactly right. besides, the point is mute, as Dr. Dog's sound just keeps getting better. I'm a fanatic of Easy Beat, for example. upon first spin of Fate, the difference sound-wise and general feel is pretty clear. yet it feels like the "right move" or the next logical step in their progression. I don't think I'm making any sense, but I trust these guys' judgment. also one of the best live shows I've ever seen, just as a bonus.
Reminds me of someone I know...... :-)

This album makes me want to learn how to play bass. Their bassist is spot-on in almost every song, especially "Later".

@MrGrunge99 - I hate bass, it ruins the music unless the bass is set real low.
Too much bass sounds terrible
