  • @rejhhill Congratulations, you sang better than a 17-year-old.

  • At the time of this video I was, and still am, an amateur and still learning about vocal technique, etc. I actually very much dislike this video myself, as I know I could have done much better.

  • @rigaara Still mighty well done! :D

  • @rejhhill I think your brilliant

  • Five stars from Prague, Czech republic

First moments listening to this aria I hoped: Yes! she's the one! Here's an amateur female singer who I'm looking for on Youtube to sing the Mozart's "Papageno Papagena duet " with me...

But, unfortunately, listening more, I found she's 1,000,000 times better than me, so I'm afraid there could be no way to make an virtual singing pair from me and her... Veriy nice, thx!

    Teodor Molochov

  • Sorry, I had not read Your profile information before. Now I know, Kira = riggara...

So, I must say: Both of You are the best ones :) Regards from Prague, Czech Republic.

  • great !

maybe not perfect, but very vienna-like.

    schani would like ist !

  • There's potential there--keep it up girl! :)

  • Really nice stuff - one of my Favorite Operettas.

Talent and Voice are Definitely There!

  • can we sing this as a choir?? what do you think??.. she's beautiful..

  • a choir can absolutely NOT sing this song.

  • ohhh... i see.. thanks though..

  • very nice! i would recommend making your 'laughs' more staccato; that would sound great =) but overall well done!

  • Really sexy girl :(

  • so pretty, as everyone elese said support i have the same problem. (: but best of luck with singing

  • Is she singing in English?

  • flat - no offence or anything

  • She actually sings very well in tune - every high note isn't going to be perfect at her age. I love that the pitches are very centered and they flow out easily, which is not easy to do up there! She even got a few laughs hehe. Bravo!

  • @000nour000 Can you sing?

  • @tcutie87 yup!

  • you've got a really pretty voice! not perfect but I guess it's mature yet so it won't be.

    gorgeous high notes!!

  • this is great but where are those words from??? I have heard like 6 different sets of lyrics for this song.

  • Amazing. Espescially the way you high those high notes, and the laughing. WOW. You just blew me away! You are very gifted. You're on your way to becoming an opera singer! Amazing job.

  • German please.

  • Very true, though unfortunate, that the up-scale musician world is very dog-eat-dog. It's important to either have a tough skin or pretend well to.

  • Good song for your voice type, just need some more support.

  • Hey you kid! Jessica here, and if anyone doubts your singing, they should have heard you at the mozart requiem... did anyone get video of that? I hope so... ahh I can't believe I found you on youtube! lol see ya

  • voice teacher - travel if you need to - but your voice needs training especially in some of the intonation - this is probably all stuff you know already. You also need to work on support - forget peoples rubbish diaphram comments, you have no control over your diaphram, only the air which controls the movement of the diaphram - you must learn to have air control if you don't already. That is THE key to success :) Keep working hard and it will happen!

  • Question 1: Are you wanting to have a professional operatic career?

Question 2: How old are you and what/how do you study and with what type of voice teacher (ie: sop, ten, bari etc?)

Question 3: Do you personally see any room for improvement and if so what areas do you believe you need to improve on?

From one professional opera singer to a young lady aspiring to be one, you have a lot of work to do, good foundation. My suggestion is make sure you are in a position to learn from a reputable

  • part of being a musician is taking criticism, whether its constructive or just plain rude.

There is no such thing as common courtesy dear :)

  • You're a gifted singer but my problem with opera always is that I do not understand what is sung there because the high voices make it difficult to understand.

Would have liked to listen to it in German though. Maybe then I would have understood a bit more.

  • I can't laugh in that way. lol. What a laughing song.

  • I heard a few off notes but this is a difficult song and I think you did a wonderful job.

  • You sang very well! A bit flaw at some places, but it's ok. I believe you are improving better and better. You sang very very well! Bravo!

  • Are you kidding me? People were rude? Obviously you're still a student and studying, its not going to be PERFECT...but its darn good and you're at a world famous conservatory. You have a lovely voice.

  • lol whaaaaaat.

who ever doubted your singing ability?!

they're obviously unbelivably stupid because youre amazingly talented!

  • Watch your pitch at some points, but it was ok...

  • you have a beautiful voice!

    very jealous!

  • lovely, you have an amazing voice

  • Wow! You're amazing! Keep on treasuring gift God's put in you! :)

May other be blessed through your voice!

  • you have a beautifull voice dont let anyone bother you, i wish i had a little of your talent!

a mexican chic was here ;D

  • Beautiful girl, very good job on this style of song, It just isnt my cup of tea...But nice job.

  • I agree that she has a very clear voice, I only wish that the quality of the video was more flawless. This happens to be my favorite song of Die Fledermaus...as for miss Kira, wish I had a girl like that ^^

  • wow.. hot.

  • Wow, I like how pure your voice sounds. I wish I could hit those notes like you

  • xDDD this song really put me in a good mood.

and it wasn't just the song.

    ;33

    beautiful voice <3

  • you can definitely have more fun with this. i just played this opera, and the singers that played Adele made tons of personal edits to better suit what they wanted to portray in the story. and they sang it in german. and they completely took charge of that mini-cadenza at the end.

  • Yeah, Ive seen later :(

She's much better in Recital video that I've seen a little later :)

  • Voice position falling on lower tones, mainly because of support lack, and the phrase isnt liquid enough (good diaphragm support would solve this too), you arent opened enough inside for high tones and you need more support, seems like they stay inside, let them out, you have a beautiful timbre! Generally I liked your performance, Im just noticing the things that need improvement. I am sure that you will be great with time. :)

  • well it was a year ago

  • Nice but not supported enough. SO flat in some parts

  • again, wow! Your voice just soars!

    *melts at the sound*

thank you for putting this up!

  • my teacher went their i think everyone who goes there has a beautiful voice!

  • Simply beautiful!

    Brava!!!

    Brava!!!

  • Voce carina, promettente, deve curare di più le volatine.

  • Manifico! En serio esto es bellisimo! Congratualtions!!! Beautiful and awesome expression both corporal and facial!!!

  • KIRA!

this is cool i didn't know you did this, video it i mean, was this in doermann?

i'll say again.. i think this will end up being your signature piece!! so cute for you.

good luck out in cali... we'll miss u!

  • Do you go to school at San Francisco Conservatory?

  • Very nice. You obviously understand the meaning of support! FINALLY, someone gets it! Seriously, so many people don't comprehend that support in singing is crucial.

  • Great singing, beautiful girl

  • You sound great! I'm a music major and am very impressed.

  • ur a fabulous singer lol

  • shes a pop singer! its awful...

  • who are you talking about?

  • very good voice

  • The song is great!

    And so are you!

  • Just great! Thank you! (I often sing this song to myself, love it!)

  • How do you do it? I love it.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG.

    I LOVE YOU TOO!

  • me likey

  • WOW! Would like to hear more of you!

Hopefully in a much more professional

    recording studio.

Could you please do O Mio Babbino?

Would like to hear YOU sing it.

    Cheers,

    Jago

  • omg who do you study with? I love the way you make the high notes light - they ring so much more than when they are made "taller." Using overtones is the key to success in this flirty and fun music, not heavy dramatic Wagner arias. I am also making my way to recitals and more experience with public singing. The more you do it, the more confident you grow and the stronger the voice. My teacher always says let it develop on its own, don't fake it. The best to you!

  • it cold be the dress you're wearing but i think you'd be able to put alot more support behind those high notes instead of rushing back down if you use your diaphram more and put your shoulders back. thats just from one singer to another. good job though! that is a very difficult song.

  • GREAT Voice, God Bless You

  • i think what you need to do currently is develop a deeper voice, with deeper breathing and much more control on the higher notes.

you've got a long way to go.. all the best! :)

  • you did well. everyone posting comments are babies. fighting over who and what are sopranos.

    very nice job.

  • well, she's good. But she can't reach all the high notes. It isn't easy I know. She goes flat too. And that isn't good. But at least she can sing most of the high notes =^^=

  • I think you are great. I have a question I hope someone can help me. "The Laughing Song" from Die Fledermaus is one of my Favs but I can nver find the version I have on cassette. Same tune but she's singing about not judging a book by its cover. Some lines: "Not an unhooked hook, not a lipstick smear, and all of my braids in place. They say that in judging a book (ha ha ha) it's not how the cover may look"

  • I really enjoy your voice!

    kisses,

    Sarah

  • Nice voice, but perhaps not right for this song.

  • charlotte church completey wrecked a beatufiul voice she once had... by going pop. sad but true.

  • true.

  • I think that you seem to be enjoying yourself and show a lot of character. You have a lot of potential and hope to hear more from you in the future. I think in general.. I'm really missing some vibrato on some key notes and that a few are flat in pitch. I personally like more staccato on the "haha's" but you are doing very well otherwise. I think those minor adjustments will go a long way.

  • Pretty voice.

  • A beautiful work in progress! I certainly liked hearing you sing this in English. It's your voice that is key. The observations aleady mentioned are my feeling, as well. Thank you!

  • That was very well done. If you don't mind some constructive ctitisism. Not thing mean, as I know only kind words. It was very good. If you breathe deeper, your high notes will be stronger. And some of the notes which are supposed to be accented or made stronger are not so. I've sung this before too, lol. Also, If you can find something other to do with your hands and arms, i think it was trowing you off. But other than that it was good. Excelent!

  • Amazing! You sound so much more clear then many others who sing this song.

  • OMG!!!!!!!!!! THAT. Was. AH-mazing. This is the best version i have ever heard....waaayyy better than Charlotte Church, I love Charlotte Church so this is a MAJOR compliment!!!! Loved it, u are amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Charlotte Church is not a real singer.

  • Amen to that comment.

  • yes she is. she sings opera. she's a soprano.

  • while i am impressed that you know how to spell the word "soprano" i am incredibly doubtful that you know anything about opera. although Charlotte Church is very pretty and possessed of a voice perfectly suited for pop music, she will never sing at any legitimate opera company since she is not an opera singer. if you think otherwise, you probably also don't know who Maria Callas is and should probably be watching "American Idol" or something equally inane.

  • i hate american idol and despise modern music. i am a soprano. i sing opera. i love opera. last friday, i saw die fledermaus and loved it. i've been to 3 seasons of opera.(15 operas) i love opera. i don't like charlotte church because she sings pop now. why wouldn't she be a "real singer" anyways? what is a "real singer" to you? opera is part of my life. leave me alone.

  • I agree with you (angelofmusic94) re: Charlotte Church,

downgrading herself to the vulgar pop

music. What a total waste of a great gift.

But then perhaps someone must have convinced

her there was more money and fun in it,

    and she went for that.

  • yeah. and now, when she DOES sing opera, you can hear the pop in her voice. and all for money. a wasted gift.

  • I like the control. As your voice gets stronger and more expansive don't lose that mix of control and effortlessness. You see so many people singing this with such desperation. Enjoy it, live it, love it.

  • one of the beast renditions of this song i have heard. blows charlotte church's out of the water!!

  • nice vocals. I've seen this done many times mostly in english as well. although a performer should know it in english as well as german. Act it up more. Its such an enjoyable song. Just live it more. BE Adele, and understand fully what she is saying. Ham it up! It's awesome though!

  • „Mein Herr Marquis" is by Johann Strauss Jr. It's an aria from his opera „Die Fledermaus." Why, in your educated opinion should it be sung in English? Is it not possible to understand something in another language?

  • I think it's perfectly possible to sing a song in a different language and understand it! What I believe that person is saying, is it should be sung in BOTH languages, that way people who don't sing it with enough emotion so that the audience knows what is going on.

  • It's common etiquette to be able to perform a piece in the original language. Especially for compeitions. Idiot.

  • You did a fantastic job on this! :D

The only suggestion I'd make is that you might want to think your high notes a little 'taller', with the mouth shape. They seemed to be just a tiny bit too spread, or 'wide'.

I like this version much better than many of the professional recordings I've heard. You actually hang out on those high notes instead of just spitting them out and moving on. NICE! :D

  • It's too choppy.. and there's a few notes missing.

Really nice voice though. Good job x

  • Kiri has a really nice voice, but the intonation may need a little bit of working on. Well done though! :) I've performed this a couple of times in German, it's an awesome piece to work on, so much fun :)

  • Its really good ^^
