I don't know how you can eat all that, haha. The closest thing I can find to that where I live is Mongolian noodle bowls, but they aren't soup, just stir fry with whatever you want. I hardly ever finish them, I couldn't imagine trying to eat something that big and then wanting a refill. :-P
Oh, Peggy! This feature gave me an incredible feeling of both hunger and nostalgia. Several years ago, I used to go to a second floor restaurant in Taipei on E. Ho Ping Rd. near 師大的國語中心. I like mine with a liberal amount of hot chili oil and the sour vegetables you showed (酸菜).
Is there a recipe that is similar to Xin Mings? I tried to make Beef noodle soup once but it didnt taste the same as what I used to have in Taiwan. There was a restaurant chain in Kaohsiung called "San Shangs" It was soo good.
u talk very fast luckily u put text on yr video, i like it so interesting n fun learning via yr video also, keep up the great job.thx....oh BTW i've follow u on Twit unfortunate i can't find yr FB account. .hv a nice day, take care
hey would you be able to make a video sometime explaining the difference / meaning / how to use ending particles such as 吧 and 啦 and 嘛 and 啊 etc?? no one on youtube has ever explained it! itd make us chinese learners sound much more didao!
love this place. There's always a big crowd in the restaurant. You should do more vids on the cuisine of Jhongli City because there are some really good food there. (the scallion pancake under the footbridge next to 新明國小 is soooo good XD)
That looks like a similar dish at one of the places my girlfriend and i go to eat. What we get is very good. Maybe when i move to Taiwan to teach english i will have to check out.
I'll have to give this place a try. I live in Yang Mei and if I want good TBN I have to go to Taipei or Vancouver. Every place around here puts far too much hot pepper into the soup and/or uses very tough cuts of beef. Where in Chung Li is this place?
@kruzer30 Should be on Minquan Road (民權路65號) Look for "新明老牌牛肉麵" in Taiwan google maps. Hope you are still able to ask for some more noodles and soup for free (for only once though) Some people would just have a TBN and then ask for the additional noodles and soup. There's another TBN restaurant just right next to it and it actually isn't that bad either.
@PeggyTeachesChinese Ive had the good fortune to have a friend from china make me this dish few times.delicious.I find it hard to believe your little body consumed all this. :)Thanks for helping me learn your wonderful language and culture. You are beautiful and talented and I wish you nuch success!
would be great to have some vocabulary references though ^^ Was way to fast for me as a beginner to distinguish all the word... I only recognized beef and the occasional noodle...
Peggy, you are the Michelangelo-of-Teaching-Chinese videos! My eyes were glued to the beef noodle soup! Taiwan beef noodle (spicy) is a little slice of Taiwanese heaven! *drools*
Hi Peggy! It's great to see your new video! Coincidentally, I just wrote an article about beef noodle soup for some English textbooks that I'm writing. Watching your video gives me a better perspective. Thanks!
I wish your videographer/camera person would have framed your face a bit better, especially in the middle of the video. At times, the top of your head was cut off at eye level. But the content is great! Thanks for sharing Peggy!
@Chazamatazamaspaz It was a friend who had no experience with filming at all holding my camera for me. Now I am working alone, trying very hard to give you guys the best of me. Thank you for watching! :*)
Hi Peggy! I hope you don't think I was being too critical! The content is great and made it excellent as well! I was just trying to give some constructive criticism to "help" if possible. I really like ALL of your videos here at PeggyTeachesChinese, though!
