I saw an atheist ad on the side of a bus in my town! (Seattle) It's the first time I've seen one IRL. It was, like, a group of 4 happy people going hiking and it said "1 in 4 is atheist, find out why at _____" or something like that.
atheists should have a voice. if you look around, there are tons of billboards for churches and "we need to talk -god" billboards. atheists are frequently attacked for having a different belief system.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Why are atheists trying to make a stupid campaign??? The first amendment says that people can worship if they want to and don't have to if they don't want to. Atheists seem to only attack Christians too. Never Muslims or buddhists!!! They shouldn't be stupid and waste their money being idiots on billboards.
@FanboyElite The same reason christians have been making 'stupid campaigns' for the last few thousand years. To get the message across. And atheists often debate muslims, but we never get abused on the streets by Buddhists so we don't bother them while they don't bother us. But I can guarantee that if a Buddhist spoke out against atheism, he would receive the same treatment. And if Atheists are 'wasting their money being idiots' then what has the church been doing all this time?
@FanboyElite Christians have been wasting "their money being idiots on billboards" for as long as billboards have been in existence. And before that it was street preaching. And before that it was holy wars. When have atheists ever gone to war in the name of science and logic? And before you say it, Hitler was a Roman Catholic.
Namely because there aren't that many Muslims or Buddhists in this country in comparison with Jews and Christians. Christians are pretty outward in their faith, so Atheists tend to counter them the most.
Try to make an effort in sound logic by not using straw man arguments (testimonies or arguments by immature theists) - just a friendly pointer. I'm looking on healthyaddict's site for a comprehensive set of atheist arguments... haven't found any yet. Let me know if there's such a video. And please, consider making one if such a video has not already been produced.
@parkerjwill p.s. I'm not exactly a "mature theist" myself. But given the calibre of arguments I've seen so far disputing or propounding theism, I'm doing OK.
HealthyAddict, I don't personally believe that religion is the end of the world (I'm personally a theist, in a sense), but I think I should share this with you. You're griping about Atheistic rights to advertise (which I don't mind), but I come from Windsor, Ontario, and what's interesting is there's no religious advertising at all. I noticed a jump when I moved to America and I just thought, wouldn't it be more productive to remove religious advertising?
just like you can not go with out water, you can not go with out God, it is because of His grace and mercy that you are here and alive, the difference is simple, you made a choice to die, but those who choose to live with God may die in the flesh but will live on beyond the flesh. I will pray for you, so at least you'll live with my prayers regardless if you want it or not. here is a choice you do not have.
`Because of the JudeoChristian Ethic America has as achieved allmost a modern society . And the only one that really comes to the rescue public and private . Progressivism and political corectnness will tear us down that and the slavery of Islam . Jesus is no ones enemy .
@DukeTwicep Jesus is the best greatest example . Am not aware of a Christian killing or imprisonong a daughter for beinng raped . Or you will submit or die . But you will continnue to be sheeple , nothing I chat will change that .
@inabluemoon1 Actually the Old testament tells the story of the raped woman that is forced to marry her rapist and then live her whole life with him. Both testaments also tells us that slavery is OK. The old testament tells us that it's OK to torture/mistreat an owned slave as long as he/she doesn't die.
Jesus said that the old laws of the Old testament will still hold until he returns, Matthew 5:17.
If anyone is being a sheeple it's you and the rest of your theist buddies.
@inabluemoon1 And how come Jesus is a so good example if Hitler was inspired enough by him and the rest of the bible to want to exterminate the Jews?
I'm not aware of any woman being raped and then killed for that in the Bible, however there are more horrifying stuff like God ordering the soldiers to rip open the stomachs of pregnant women but leave the virgins so they can marry them. That is at least equally sickening.
@inabluemoon1 Um, where did I talk about homosexual drug abusers? And who said Jesus needed battle tactics? He just needed to kill some people, I don't know why, but apparently he loved them and thus they needed to die, in horrifying ways. And then there's the commanding Abraham to sacrifice his son. What Abraham should have done is that he should have refused, and then God would have said (not) that that was good, because he loves everyone and he wouldn't want someone to die.
@DukeTwicep Hitler was homosexual drug addict .God is harsh to those who do not better themselves . Jesus is Love and Peace . God is law and everything .
@inabluemoon1 What? Where did you get that from? So, can you give me any source that says he was a homosexual? If you read Wikipedia you can see he had lots of relationships with women. And where did you read that he was a drug abuser? You're making a lot of unsubstantiated claims.
In my opinion, Hitler would have been a great human being had he not been corrupted by religion. He was supposedly painting in his youth.
@DukeTwicep Progressives are wiping clean truth from the internet . Their will not be peace until all racism and homosexuality is driven from our hearts . Jesus is the one and only great example . But your programing is complete .BAAAAAAAAAA
@inabluemoon1 Right, I'm programmed :D. And you're Not programmed? You hold so tight to your beliefs, and you can't possibly think that you could be wrong. That's fine, but it's pretty hypocritical to call others programmed if you don't challenge your own beliefs.
I've already been a theist, and I'm just waiting for theists to give me a good reason to become a Christian again, so far no one has come up with one single bit. I'm open to new ways of thinking, can you say the same?
@inabluemoon1 And remember that the trinity still existed back in the old testament, it's not like God poofed Jesus into existence just because he needed him to be crucified, so all those atrocities committed by God in the old testament are also Jesus' atrocities.
@DukeTwicep Actually I'm against Islam too, but both religions' got fairly the same amount of violence, hatred, atrocities and then "love thy neighbour". And both religions have incited violence in the name of god, and they still do. Suicide bombers from the middle-east, and doctor-killers and gay/atheist-haters/protesters from the US. And both societies are governed by religious leaders. Bush said that God was with him, so said Hitler. And so say many others justifying violence with religion.
@DukeTwicep The church of the crusades fought back against a conquering Islam , built great things .Islam only destroys .Bush is not a psycopath. Dont think you can equate what Bush did as Old Testimate justice if anything its fighting it against the taliban .
@inabluemoon1 Right, and how much did he lie? They went to Iraq for the fucking oil and to get military bases in that part of the world. They educated and armed the Talibans themselves, they only have themselves to blame.
And if he had god with him, how come the war didn't go so well? How come it took 9 years to catch and kill the one they thought was responsible for 9/11? God sure moves in mysterious ways.
@DukeTwicep And the reason they can do that is because of what's in their holy books. Of course, most theists only indoctrinate their children and they don't read or adhere to the passages that tells them what to hate/dislike. But then there are a lot who also Do, and that's basically because they've been taught that faith is a virtue, and facts don't matter as much, so they take what they read for granted and as words from god.
And then there's the psychological trauma of living with guilt...
@inabluemoon1 Well that depends on the person whether they want to interpret the texts as compelling. Of course, if you are a believer you don't believe that you are forced to do anything, you do it all on your own free will.
However, indoctrination is forcing, and then it doesn't matter if the texts are compelling or not. What matters is how damaging those texts are. The Bible has got at least as much violence and immorality as the Quran, and they both justify it and unjustify it.
The reason atheist billboards create more backlash than religious ones (I think) is because saying "Jesus loves you" is only passively saying that if you're not Christian, then you're wrong, whereas atheist billboards are directly saying/implying it.
This is very funny "Billboard scrutiny leads tax man to Ohio church" The church that order the billboard down got audited. It turns out they were not paying tax on the land used for the billboard.
See ffrf dot org/news/releases/billboard-scrutiny-leads-tax-man-to-ohio-church/
Dude, I'm an Atheist, and a very outspoken one at that. There are no gods, and I firmly believe that we should get rid of religion ASAP for the good of our species. That said, this two guys are playing the censorship card ... when actually the billboard was on church property. Let me tell you something, if a church where to put a billboard on your backyard, you would call the advertisement company and ask them to remove it too. You didn't got censored, just moved somewhere else. Tough luck.
@almafuertegmailcom The point here isn't censorship, we weren't censored here as the billboard was simply moved to another location. However if a xtian billboard was placed on my property... sure, I'd probably complain, but what are the odds it'd get taken down? But I digress.
All that this shows is how threatened some feel by us, and how terrible it is for an atheist to say 'I'm good without god'. I look forward to the day people don't have these kinds of reactions over a billboard.
@healthyaddict you can be good without God. there are plenty of good people who don't have God. so if people are telling you that it's not true. it's just that good works won't get you into heaven. so cool. you can be good without God. woop-di-doo. there is not point in that billboard as far as 'why follow God if we can be good without Him?' that's total crap.
@inlovewithadonai I used to believe that convoluted dogma, But i figured out there is no good in god, it is about serving the pack, the tribe, and the horde. 'Good' as you are stating, means approved by the tribal god who tells you who to love and who to destroy in battle. He (male) tells you how to beat your slaves, sell your daughters into slavery, and send outsiders to hell. There is nothing loving about its myth-logic that is loving outside the cult of belonging. Reality!
@healthyaddict and by good in my last comment i ment 'goodperson' because you can never be truely good without God. you can be a 'goodperson' in the eyes of humans. but you will never be good.
@healthyaddict yeah it's ridiculous. I actually thought (I live in oklahoma, bible belt) about billboards because I see alot that are like "I'm a mother, a student, and a mormon" and I always wondered if ppl would just laugh and drive off if it said "atheist" instead. I didn't know atheist billboards even existed.
one of the most inappropriate ones I've seen wasn't religious, because then I wouldn't care "pro-woman, pro-child, pro-life" it wasn't an ad, it was just saying if your for abortion
your just a bad person and should be shunned. That's way worse than anything else I've seen on a billboard, and it's been up for at least 5 years. -___-
We had these billboards in Columbus? Awesome, I might have to actually journey outside my home and track one of these down and bask in it's awesomeness now before some religious nutjobs complain about it not being Christian enough.
The churches are as broad-minded and tolerant as ever, I see. Anyway, I'd much rather see your lovely smiling face than a picture of their imaginary playmate, Ashley!
The churchies had the billboard removed because they would lose members if people saw they really don't need any kind of god or "overlord" to be able to live good, happy, fulfilling lives. This is the number one reason churchies are against non-religions (atheism, nihilism, etc) advertising about themselves; fear of declining attendance.
But, thirdly, I would like to clarify that I do agree with The Freedom From Religion Foundation's right to post innocuous messages. It just has to be more shrewd about WHERE it places those signs--as this video's existence has already demonstrated.
Also, disagreement is one thing but there was nothing obscure about what the pastor said. A billboard claiming one can be good without God REALLY DOES contradict THE CENTRAL TENET of Christianity: e.g. You are a SINNER who has to be SAVED. There's nothing to be saved from if you're good without God.
The intro to the video said it all: NOBODY cares about churches posting their billboards but people DO CARE about atheistic billboards. Thus, I would expect even NON-religious organizations to oppose having billboards that are not conducive to business success posted on their property. It's not discrimination.
@TheNextTwilightZone "BOTH GROUPS THINK AT THE SAME LEVEL. Christians (and others) make medieval claims, atheists defend against them." thats retarded, imagine applying the same logic to campaigners against female genital mutilation, see how long it lasts.
Is there no way to prosecute 'Christianity' for 'False Advertising' or for breaking the 'Trade Descriptions Act' ? (Which says that products or services must be of reasonable quality and fit for purpose and be 'as described')
SURELY there must be some way to expose those ludicrous religious claims to the same scrutiny as any other form of advertising ?
We should have no qualm about ridiculing the self deluded, irrational, parasitic religious. They deserve no respect, only ridicule, disdain, and contempt. It is of the utmost importance for the health of civilization to eradicate the god virus.
I've see churches do way worse. In Wyoming there is a porno store they advertise as "the only porno store in Utah" (LOL!), because Utah can’t have porno stores and they are only like 80 miles from the border, but the people of Utah (Mormons) turned around and placed a sign DIRECTLY OVER the store, it’s literally like 2 feet above it which said "XXX three strikes your a loser, don't be a loser don't buy porn" weird huh?
Atheismo is the one true God. He rides in the sky in a chariot of gold. And beware when the end times comes, then he and the flying spaghetti monster will make their frontal assault on asgaard, finally killing Odin and Thor. It will be the end of reality.
Technically, the statement "There's no examples of Christians doing bad things" is somewhat distracting the point. It would be better to point to the fine works of atheist organizations or groups who operate irrespective of religious belief and show the good there. Otherwise we'll come off as attack people who, while they are attacking us, are generally too stupid to realize it.
Yeah, I could understand a church not wanting that sign on their property. It is theirs, after all.
A question, if I may: I live in Canada, so I don't have the full perspective on people in the United States. Why do American Atheistic organisatoins feel the need to put up billboard advertising?
@Anghellik9 I think the question that needs asking is "When the church contracted with the billboard company did their contract include the right to veto content?"
@FatherTime89 why would you say that ?either you believe god created those fanTAStic perkins,or,you believe that to see beauty in those sweet examples of human evoloution requires NO god.and I also share that persons view on the view.tread not on the freedom of speech on the internet .please
@MuttwithaPedigree Looking more closely, it doesn't look lower case. Are you blind? That's the way the font is. Theist at heart? I take it you aren't aware of grammar. It's capitalize because it's talking about God, a specific character people believe in (whatever God maybe depends on the religion). That's why it's capitalized. Proper nouns are capitalized. Side note, you can't deny the existence of disbelief or organized religion.
@MuttwithaPedigree Sure, atheists get offended as well. The point is is that if an atheist (or any non-christian for that matter) were to complain about a billboard that was religious in nature it wouldn't get taken down/moved.
it's so damn true, they have churches everywhere, spewing religious messages, bibles in all the bookstores, billboards galore, and they get all butthurt when we get one little ad somewhere.
The reason that the church does not like the billboard is that it says you can be without god, there fore you dont have to go to church. There goes their income. So I dont have a problem with the church removing the billboard on their own property, they are only protecting their interest. Now if it wasnt on their property, that would be a different story.
Im an athiest but I cant stand the attitude of athiests like these in the video as much as theists. It's the whole I'M RIGHT AND YOUR CRAZY NOW LET ME HAVE SOME ATTENTION!
I live in Ohio too. Based on our population this is totally plausible. I'm surprised yours hasn't been moved to the middle of no where. People here are way to easily offended by things that so much as mention something that goes against their beliefs.
@MartianSanta I understand what you are saying, but we can't be held responsible for the people who founded this country. Their ideals were their ideals, and they did stuff that most of us today would find repulsive, like own slaves. However, the past is the past and we have to move forward. I was just trying to reiterate that this country was not founded on the judeo-christian values, and there is evidence to back that up. Also, I am a patriotic American, and I am against genocide ;)
Congratulations on your billboards guys! Dylan, right after you say you can be good without God you admit to plagiarizing your billboard. That's funny! Ashley, now everyone in Columbus can see beauty in the universe just by looking up at your face on that billboard. Aww, wasn't that sweet (or just corny)?
@emastro Funny how you make an indirect reply at me, hoping I wouldn't return to this page, and I will add calling me a troll means little seeing that you went digging into my records. Please shed light on my negative approach to people. Saying I give misogynistcs a bad name is to say you are one yourself but I would like to add I never gave a reason to be one myself. I don't know how you could even give the distrust and hatred of woman a good name as your berated statment attested.
I want to contribute $ to this cause. "We can be moral without bronze age religions". "Okay, then how did god get there?" "I'm more moral than Yahweh." MORE BILLBOARDS. I'll contribute to this cause.
I think the billboard was taken down because churchgoers are not known for their reading skills. They probably read the billboard as saying, "I can be good without good!" which confused and scared them.
IF you belive in god everything can be soo beautiful. Dog shit is home of thousand of milions of bacteria and food for insects. Its soo beautiful universe inside it. lol
If you don't believe in God, why do you devote your entire life to it. I don't believe in bigfoot, I dont know anyone devoting there entire life toward disproving bigfoot. Why do you hate Christians so much?
@happyninslave Most atheists don't hate the followers, they hate the religion.
People don't need to spend much effort to discredit things that not many people believe in the first place.
Christianity is a big deal because it is a major religion that many people follow. Like many religions, it imposes certain ideologies on people without proper reasoning, such as condemning homosexuality and evolution. These things affect other people's lives... it's a huge issue just like racism or slavery.
@happyninslave Because if it weren't for Atheists speaking out about the fact that they don't believe in any higher power, the most of the world would assume they do. But I assure you, that if 90% of the world believed in Bigfoot and you didn't you would be speaking out against the idea. Especially when you can't escape hearing about the idea CONSTANTLY and reading about people dying over it.
Imagine if the majority of the united states were bigfoot-believers, your congressmen were bigfoot-believers who wanted bigfootry taught as an alternative theory to science, you had to swear a pledge to one nation under bigfoot, the Eastborough Bigfoot Church declared all non-bigfooters fags, you could only marry your lover if you both believed in bigfoot, bigfoot hunters were considered tax-exempt charities with special privileges under the law, and disbelief in bigfoot was evil.
@rkyeun Bigfoot don't go back 2000+ years, This nation wasn't founded on Bigfoot, there arn't 3 billion plus bigfoot believers. LMAO!!! you people are so easy to manipulate. I knew I could count on a single leftwing lunatic to make my point!!! =)
@rkyeun I didn't make a statement, I asked a question. How could I "lie about an argument" if I never claimed one? You are my puppet, enjoy my strings. =)
@rkyeun When you fall to sleep tonight. Don't forget to imagine my cock in your mouth. It tasted like nothing you can imagine. Just remember my cock in your mouth.
@rkyeun What do you mean believe in BigFoot?, Plenty of people have seen bigfoot, just like plenty of people have seen God heal someone with a Headache, which no one can actually see get cured, so if there is a god then there must be a bigfoot......Hail BF, I don't want to burn forever in wherever you send non-believers. LOL.....
@robtay1963 "just like plenty of people have seen God heal someone with a Headache, which no one can actually see get cured" - To this I say WTF, are you retarded? People "see God heal... which no one actually sees"... So they see something they can't see?... Yeah right, that's called THE NATURAL HEALING FACTOR OF THE HUMAN BODY.
@hellfencer UM yes that was my point, no one sees any real healing like regrowing limbs or gang green suddenly and completely clearing up, or cuts sealing themselves, they only say he cured my headache or straightened my slip disc, or other crap that can not be verified. Sorry but you sound like you don'e believe God is real either, but you missed the sarcasm in my statement, hence the worship of Big Foot as logical as the worship of a GOD
@robtay1963 (>_>)' Sarcasm eh? Well, sometimes its hard to tell the difference between it and complete zealotry. Apologies my wise friend :)
No, I don't believe in the "warm blanket of christianity" that most sheeple need in order to not only sleep at night, but continue being a somewhat sane individual on a daily basis. It sickens me when I hear people praising jesus left and right and claiming god helped them. The stupid fools don't realize that power is from HUMANS.
@happyninslave I don't hate anyone, but I believe this country was founded as a true Democracy and freedom to choose what to believe. Laws passed should never be solely based on any religions Dogma. Laws should be about morality not about belief in any religion. I don't like law makers when they try to push there personal religious beliefs into law......And as for why do we preach, because it is what we except and wish to teach others no different then Mormons or Jehovah witness knocking..LOL
@robtay1963 Not a democracy, but a republic. I'm right you are wrong. Your entire life has been led to believe a lie. Don't blame me, blame the people who lied to you.
@happyninslave Wow, that was kind of rude, I mean you imply that you think I am stupid. Since I vote for those that represent us I obviously know we live in a Republic, but with ties to democracy. I mean in the "Peoples republic of China" They do not choose there leaders or ever get to vote on local laws. So I am sorry if you think we are completely controlled by the government but we are not. We can change our leaders and even pass some laws by popular vote, so it is a Democratic-Republic.
@happyninslave Plus my point was not about weather we live in a true population controlled government or a Representative one. But that Thomas Jefferson and the other founding fathers wanted to instill in the constitution that we should have basic freedoms and that laws should not be based on one persons view as in a Monarchy or A Religious Doctrine as in a Theocracy.... So your point made no sense since the point I raised had nothing to do with your statement.
@happyninslave one final note, I believe I am being very polite, just blogging what I believe to be true, Atheist are not trying to do anything but educate others with what we accept as the truth, So don't blast me back in a rude way. If you want to respond with your Dogma and explain why you believe I would love to debate such issues with you. If you think I hate anyone or want to argue over semantics in my statements then please do not respond anymore. I love debate not name calling.
@happyninslave OK I stand corrected you did not call me a name, you implied I did not understand our government which to me was akin to calling me stupid. I made general statements, I was not arguing semantics of our governmental structure. Also Dogma is your Laws, your religious beliefs it is not an insult at all but a term used to say, I this religion or that and this is Our Dogma....not a name or insult.
@robtay1963 I never called you stupid. You said the United States Government was a Democracy, I stated it was a Republic. I was right, you were wrong. I never called you stupid. I'm just stating the facts. Geez... this is crazy.
@happyninslave I don't agree you are right, I believe we have a representative form of government but most our leaders are chosen through a democratic process as are many of our laws, so it is both which means I am right and so are you, but I was not wrong.....we live in a democracy in that much of the power is in the hands of the people directly and indirectly.
@robtay1963 We have a constitutional republic, not a democracy, but republic. Again republic, you are wrong, I am right. Don't blame me for you lack of knowlege, blame your parents, friends and teachers. Move along.
@happyninslave Look up the definition of the word Semantics. We live in a Republic run by a democratic choice of leader ship and some local laws. I know history and have read all about how this country was founded and the structure. And it is referred to as both a Democracy and a Republic..So you can call it either one. We choose the men who represent us in the republic by a democratic process..Christians and your need to have Absolutes. Must be sad to be unable to learn new information.
@happyninslave Actually if a government only has one or the other they are not the same. To have a vote such as on local laws or to directly choose your congressmen that is a Democratic process, to have congress voting on laws for you that is Republic, Even our founding fathers referred to it as both, and it was the first of its kind. Pick up a history book before you contact me again.
@happyninslave One question why are you arguing with me, this whole video blog set we are on is about Christianity / Atheism. I agree with you on that note, and more to the point my whole thing about Democracy was not really about Democracy versus Republic, Call it what you like, My original mention of Democracy was aimed to someone pointing out that we are not a Theocracy. But a country where we are ruled my common sense not by ancient book of fairy tales.
@robtay1963 You can try to cover up your lies. I said it was a republic and you said no it's a democracy. I pointed out the fact that you are wrong and I am right. When people lie, I call them out. So sorry that you were the one who was wrong. Next time, don't lie, just admit you are wrong. The United States of America is a Contitutional Republic. I am right, you are wrong. Thanks, come agian. =)

`Because of the JudeoChristian Ethic America has as achieved allmost a modern society . And the only one that really comes to the rescue public and private . Progressivism and political corectnness will tear us down that and the slavery of Islam . Jesus is no ones enemy .
inabluemoon1 6 months ago
@inabluemoon1 Well the slavery of Christianity is mostly the same as the slavery of Islam. Whatever that means.
DukeTwicep 4 months ago
@DukeTwicep Jesus is the best greatest example . Am not aware of a Christian killing or imprisonong a daughter for beinng raped . Or you will submit or die . But you will continnue to be sheeple , nothing I chat will change that .
inabluemoon1 4 months ago
@inabluemoon1 Actually the Old testament tells the story of the raped woman that is forced to marry her rapist and then live her whole life with him. Both testaments also tells us that slavery is OK. The old testament tells us that it's OK to torture/mistreat an owned slave as long as he/she doesn't die.
Jesus said that the old laws of the Old testament will still hold until he returns, Matthew 5:17.
If anyone is being a sheeple it's you and the rest of your theist buddies.
DukeTwicep 4 months ago
@inabluemoon1 And how come Jesus is a so good example if Hitler was inspired enough by him and the rest of the bible to want to exterminate the Jews?
I'm not aware of any woman being raped and then killed for that in the Bible, however there are more horrifying stuff like God ordering the soldiers to rip open the stomachs of pregnant women but leave the virgins so they can marry them. That is at least equally sickening.
DukeTwicep 4 months ago
@DukeTwicep Typical you would use a homosexual drug abuser to make your point . Battle tactics is not an example or needed by Jesus .
inabluemoon1 4 months ago
@inabluemoon1 Um, where did I talk about homosexual drug abusers? And who said Jesus needed battle tactics? He just needed to kill some people, I don't know why, but apparently he loved them and thus they needed to die, in horrifying ways. And then there's the commanding Abraham to sacrifice his son. What Abraham should have done is that he should have refused, and then God would have said (not) that that was good, because he loves everyone and he wouldn't want someone to die.
DukeTwicep 4 months ago
@DukeTwicep Hitler was homosexual drug addict .God is harsh to those who do not better themselves . Jesus is Love and Peace . God is law and everything .
inabluemoon1 4 months ago
@inabluemoon1 What? Where did you get that from? So, can you give me any source that says he was a homosexual? If you read Wikipedia you can see he had lots of relationships with women. And where did you read that he was a drug abuser? You're making a lot of unsubstantiated claims.
In my opinion, Hitler would have been a great human being had he not been corrupted by religion. He was supposedly painting in his youth.
DukeTwicep 4 months ago
@DukeTwicep Progressives are wiping clean truth from the internet . Their will not be peace until all racism and homosexuality is driven from our hearts . Jesus is the one and only great example . But your programing is complete .BAAAAAAAAAA
inabluemoon1 4 months ago
@inabluemoon1 Right, I'm programmed :D. And you're Not programmed? You hold so tight to your beliefs, and you can't possibly think that you could be wrong. That's fine, but it's pretty hypocritical to call others programmed if you don't challenge your own beliefs.
I've already been a theist, and I'm just waiting for theists to give me a good reason to become a Christian again, so far no one has come up with one single bit. I'm open to new ways of thinking, can you say the same?
DukeTwicep 4 months ago
@inabluemoon1 And remember that the trinity still existed back in the old testament, it's not like God poofed Jesus into existence just because he needed him to be crucified, so all those atrocities committed by God in the old testament are also Jesus' atrocities.
DukeTwicep 4 months ago
@DukeTwicep Very Islamic of you .
inabluemoon1 4 months ago
@DukeTwicep Actually I'm against Islam too, but both religions' got fairly the same amount of violence, hatred, atrocities and then "love thy neighbour". And both religions have incited violence in the name of god, and they still do. Suicide bombers from the middle-east, and doctor-killers and gay/atheist-haters/protesters from the US. And both societies are governed by religious leaders. Bush said that God was with him, so said Hitler. And so say many others justifying violence with religion.
DukeTwicep 4 months ago
@DukeTwicep The church of the crusades fought back against a conquering Islam , built great things .Islam only destroys .Bush is not a psycopath. Dont think you can equate what Bush did as Old Testimate justice if anything its fighting it against the taliban .
inabluemoon1 4 months ago
@inabluemoon1 Right, and how much did he lie? They went to Iraq for the fucking oil and to get military bases in that part of the world. They educated and armed the Talibans themselves, they only have themselves to blame.
And if he had god with him, how come the war didn't go so well? How come it took 9 years to catch and kill the one they thought was responsible for 9/11? God sure moves in mysterious ways.
DukeTwicep 4 months ago
@DukeTwicep I enjoy getting information from people who challege my thinking and not those that indoctrinnate group hate

@inabluemoon1 That was an unexpected answer -- alright, have a good time!
DukeTwicep 4 months ago
@DukeTwicep I did not make it NO it is making me
inabluemoon1 4 months ago
@DukeTwicep And the reason they can do that is because of what's in their holy books. Of course, most theists only indoctrinate their children and they don't read or adhere to the passages that tells them what to hate/dislike. But then there are a lot who also Do, and that's basically because they've been taught that faith is a virtue, and facts don't matter as much, so they take what they read for granted and as words from god.
And then there's the psychological trauma of living with guilt...
DukeTwicep 4 months ago
@DukeTwicep Islam compels you .When Christian you are compeled .
inabluemoon1 4 months ago

Tough luck.
almafuertegmailcom 7 months ago
@almafuertegmailcom The point here isn't censorship, we weren't censored here as the billboard was simply moved to another location. However if a xtian billboard was placed on my property... sure, I'd probably complain, but what are the odds it'd get taken down? But I digress.
All that this shows is how threatened some feel by us, and how terrible it is for an atheist to say 'I'm good without god'. I look forward to the day people don't have these kinds of reactions over a billboard.
healthyaddict 7 months ago
@healthyaddict you can be good without God. there are plenty of good people who don't have God. so if people are telling you that it's not true. it's just that good works won't get you into heaven. so cool. you can be good without God. woop-di-doo. there is not point in that billboard as far as 'why follow God if we can be good without Him?' that's total crap.
inlovewithadonai 4 months ago
@inlovewithadonai I used to believe that convoluted dogma, But i figured out there is no good in god, it is about serving the pack, the tribe, and the horde. 'Good' as you are stating, means approved by the tribal god who tells you who to love and who to destroy in battle. He (male) tells you how to beat your slaves, sell your daughters into slavery, and send outsiders to hell. There is nothing loving about its myth-logic that is loving outside the cult of belonging. Reality!
JusticeIsWhere 3 months ago
@healthyaddict and by good in my last comment i ment 'goodperson' because you can never be truely good without God. you can be a 'goodperson' in the eyes of humans. but you will never be good.
inlovewithadonai 4 months ago
@healthyaddict yeah it's ridiculous. I actually thought (I live in oklahoma, bible belt) about billboards because I see alot that are like "I'm a mother, a student, and a mormon" and I always wondered if ppl would just laugh and drive off if it said "atheist" instead. I didn't know atheist billboards even existed.
one of the most inappropriate ones I've seen wasn't religious, because then I wouldn't care "pro-woman, pro-child, pro-life" it wasn't an ad, it was just saying if your for abortion

It's not discrimination.
micahstork 7 months ago

It will be the end of reality.
dirtywhores4cash 7 months ago
Technically, the statement "There's no examples of Christians doing bad things" is somewhat distracting the point. It would be better to point to the fine works of atheist organizations or groups who operate irrespective of religious belief and show the good there. Otherwise we'll come off as attack people who, while they are attacking us, are generally too stupid to realize it.

The reason that the church does not like the billboard is that it says you can be without god, there fore you dont have to go to church. There goes their income. So I dont have a problem with the church removing the billboard on their own property, they are only protecting their interest. Now if it wasnt on their property, that would be a different story.

If you don't believe in God, why do you devote your entire life to it. I don't believe in bigfoot, I dont know anyone devoting there entire life toward disproving bigfoot. Why do you hate Christians so much?
happyninslave 7 months ago
@happyninslave Most atheists don't hate the followers, they hate the religion.
People don't need to spend much effort to discredit things that not many people believe in the first place.
Christianity is a big deal because it is a major religion that many people follow. Like many religions, it imposes certain ideologies on people without proper reasoning, such as condemning homosexuality and evolution. These things affect other people's lives... it's a huge issue just like racism or slavery.
MsHojat 7 months ago
@happyninslave Because if it weren't for Atheists speaking out about the fact that they don't believe in any higher power, the most of the world would assume they do. But I assure you, that if 90% of the world believed in Bigfoot and you didn't you would be speaking out against the idea. Especially when you can't escape hearing about the idea CONSTANTLY and reading about people dying over it.

hellfencer 7 months ago

hellfencer 7 months ago
@happyninslave I don't hate anyone, but I believe this country was founded as a true Democracy and freedom to choose what to believe. Laws passed should never be solely based on any religions Dogma. Laws should be about morality not about belief in any religion. I don't like law makers when they try to push there personal religious beliefs into law......And as for why do we preach, because it is what we except and wish to teach others no different then Mormons or Jehovah witness knocking..LOL
robtay1963 7 months ago
@robtay1963 Not a democracy, but a republic. I'm right you are wrong. Your entire life has been led to believe a lie. Don't blame me, blame the people who lied to you.
happyninslave 7 months ago
@happyninslave Wow, that was kind of rude, I mean you imply that you think I am stupid. Since I vote for those that represent us I obviously know we live in a Republic, but with ties to democracy. I mean in the "Peoples republic of China" They do not choose there leaders or ever get to vote on local laws. So I am sorry if you think we are completely controlled by the government but we are not. We can change our leaders and even pass some laws by popular vote, so it is a Democratic-Republic.
robtay1963 7 months ago
@happyninslave Plus my point was not about weather we live in a true population controlled government or a Representative one. But that Thomas Jefferson and the other founding fathers wanted to instill in the constitution that we should have basic freedoms and that laws should not be based on one persons view as in a Monarchy or A Religious Doctrine as in a Theocracy.... So your point made no sense since the point I raised had nothing to do with your statement.
robtay1963 7 months ago
@happyninslave one final note, I believe I am being very polite, just blogging what I believe to be true, Atheist are not trying to do anything but educate others with what we accept as the truth, So don't blast me back in a rude way. If you want to respond with your Dogma and explain why you believe I would love to debate such issues with you. If you think I hate anyone or want to argue over semantics in my statements then please do not respond anymore. I love debate not name calling.

happyninslave 7 months ago
@happyninslave OK I stand corrected you did not call me a name, you implied I did not understand our government which to me was akin to calling me stupid.

@robtay1963 A democracy and republic are not the same thing. They are close, but not the same. I am right, you are wrong. Moron! LOL.
