The Jehovah's Witnesses teach that Jesus is the fallen star in verse 1, and that he's the king of the abyss who opens it. They also call him the Abad'don (the destroyer) in verse 11. As much as it is tried to give a symbolical meaning to much of what's written in the book of revelation, those plagues, and descriptions of the locusts should be taken literally. Many people confuse them with helicopter, and other weird things. The locusts will be real locusts out of hell, prepared to torment the unbelievers.

These are not the ordinary grass-eating insects. If they were helicopters, how do you explain verse 9:4? These are supposed to torment only the unbelievers. Are the pilots flying these "locusts" (aka helicopters) expected to know the difference between believers and unbelievers?

My first impression on reading Revelations discription of locust was someone trying to describe military helicopters who has never seen a helicopter--as it talks of locust arrayed for battle and stingers in their tails faces as men the window in the helicopter would only show the face not the entire body of a man.

No. God has told us everything that will happen before its time. Everything in the bible is mentioned atleast twice.  Everything. His prophecy is consistent to the last detail.

But on JW's I was once interested in them. I went to the Kingdom Hall as well and studied on their teachings. They are some really nice people. But as far as the dates go like the 1914 thing...that stuff is true. Also did you know that the JW's use to celebrate holidays such as Christmas?

I speak of chapter 17 in Revelations.....the Babylonian mystery religion. However, I am hoping you are not referring to yourself literally as being The Messenger in Isaiah chapter 60. Very intriguing, the only problem I have is it isn't true! What's being said in the book of Revelations has all to do with the wrath of God on the world who rejects passage back to the eternal tree of life, whose way has been protected since the eviction from the garden for partaking of the forbidden tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The Book of Revelation is meant to be literally interpreted unless otherwise stated in the Book itself. The locust will be actual creature who will be set lose for 5 months to torture unbelievers. What is your standing on the Glorious Appearing of the King of kings and Lord of lords at the end of Revelation? Is this, too, a sign? Just wondering your standing on that. Thanks in advance. john of pathmos was one of Jesus diciples who walked with him. he was perhaps also Jesus' brother. he was given the Revelation while exiled alone on Pathos around 90AD...he was the last living diciple who walked with the Jesus.

he was given the Revelation while being punished for preaching...this was just 56 years after Jesus' preaching work was finished. according to the Bible an angel gave him the Revelation...this Revelation wouldn't be understood until the Last Days. it would only be understood right as, or right before the events foretold were happening.

Revelation 1:3 says to "observe the things written in it" you couldn't observe it until it was happening.
