everything lieberman said point by point was either a lie or purposeful deception. The reason the public option could be bad is because of all of those other issues being dealt with badly in the bill. worst case scenario in which people like lieberman get their way on everything else but the public option only THEN will it be a bad thing. you can't just do the public option by itself or else it will only be used to supplement insurance companies by taking on the insurance co.s rejects.

So that is why you need not only the public option, but insurance reform , protections against pre-existing conditions, selective insuring, etc.

Obviously this is more complicated and less efficient than single payer. or we could just make all of the insurance companies non-profit.
