people didn't realize that housing prices were not going to keep going up. they bought high. you're supposed to buy low sell high. people were buying high and then the bubble popped and then they were screwed. if pepole took a basic macroeconomics class they would know this. companies and firms are people too. waht do people do? tehy look for the most efficient way to do things. if that means having to fire within and send the job overseas to cut cost then so be it.
