Ok. I understand everyone's entitled to their opinions. But seriously? John Barry, himself, HATED the music to The Man with the Golden Gun, but that's rated higher than For Your Eyes Only and The Living Daylights?
Is the only US#1 of all the themes from the worst movie of the series with an old actor for the title roll. Also a beautiful bond girl forbidden to appear even in a bikini and with one of the rare bad acting appearances of C Walken ever...
it was a US#1 in 1985!!! (Madonna, M Jackson, U2, Prince, etc) not the empty-accoustic-nirvana-macarena 90's era, not the potsmoking-longhair-disco 70's era!
"Glay-deez" Knight? Are you kidding? If you can't properly pronounce the first name of one of the most talented and successful female artist of all time, you have no business picking a song list of any kind.
"You can't get much cheesier than that".
You said it best, Mr. Cheese.
And FYI, "For Your Eyes Only" is about as Bond as it gets. Part of his whole swagger is his ability to be suave and romantic & just "laid back" as much as it is breaking a bad guy's neck.
Actually, the guitar riff on Man with the Golden Gun sticks out too, not just the trumpet notes. Beyond the opening notes, it's the largely the riff that drives that theme, so it should get some credit too...
14: My ONLY big disagreement with this list. IMHO Goldeneye should have been in at least the top 10. It really was the only really good Brosnan film and intro.
13: Meh, I don't care for it either.
12: Yeah, I would have put this at 13, DAF is a bit better.
11: VERY UNDERRATED! One of the few good things about OP (Besides General Orlov and Mischka and Grischka).
10: Pretty much in agreement, though I would have put Goldeneye here.
@FelixRodriguez And yep, View to a Kill should probably be a bit higher. Not a great film (no Bond film is bad, but it's certainly not the best one, and that's probably an understatement...) but Duran Duran made the opening credits worth watching...
Good point about the opening notes to "Man with the Golden Gun."
I would have put "All Time High" and "From Russia with Love" above "License to Kill" though..."All Time High" fits really well with it's film, and "From Russia with Love" is now a fairly iconic song and film. About the only thing "License to Kill" shares with it's film is the title. I mean, it sounds like a love song, but it's a film about revenge. It just never really struck a chord with me.
GoldenEye was by far the best Brosnan film. And I love the theme. Tina Turner did an outstanding job there. Top 10 in my opinion. Sleek, smooth, dramatic, a sense of mystery and mystique...that song had it all. And after the hiatus of the series, the mystique of the song just kinda serves to reignite the mystique of Bond too.
However, I will say that Duran Duran did a great job with View to a Kill, and Hungry Like the Wolf would have made a great theme too. They should use it sometime
Your rankings are shit and if I were to take a wild guess, most people would agree with me and not you. Just because you've watched all of the bond films more than once, does not give you the right to rate all of the bond theme songs. I have taken many film courses in five years of schooling and I haven't learned all I need to know about composing music for movies, but I know quite a bit. All I've seen from your list is incompetence towards musical compositions for films.
@symustafa1996 You should watch it, it's a great film...as one would expect with Sean Connery as Bond. Think it also won an Oscar for Best Visual Effects because of its underwater scenes, which were pretty incredible for its time.
"A View to a Kill" has great lyrics?! It's a great song, but it is the most lyrically random Bond Song ever. You also lost credibility when you ranked "Diamonds are Forever" so low for, as you admitted, "no reason..."
you freaking wrong if you love james bond movies you have forgotten matt munro shirley basey as the greattest song for me as a james bond fallower it must be at the highest numbers from five to one
Meh. Frankly I'm watching these vids just to listen to the music. You're opinions are yours and I see nothing about them that's not completely subjective.
Good video in terms of consolidating all the bond songs. I don't necessarily agree (actually not at all) with your ratings though. Good job nonetheless.
Well from my point of view I think Pierce Brosnan was awsome. Cant complain on Roger Moore either. Favourite movie was Goldenfinger....??? What is that? Uhh...I like turtles to, but I`m not one so your opinion doesnt count:P Lol
GoldenEye is classic...both the movie and song...smooth and perfectly written: when Bond came back in the 90s he returned with a blast...the movie, the song, the game...all this will forever be remembered
I know tell me about it, Goldeneye is hands down one of my favorite movies and the song never gets old its one of my favs, what a douchebag to put it on number 14 and to rank freaking duran duran higher then golden eye or die another day or tomorrow never dies...
DanceInto: What I meant to say is that the melodic spinal cord of "License to Kill" was stolen from "Goldfinger." Listen to the opening notes of each song. They are exactly the same. In that way, it's a little reminiscent, no?
@TokDiYel well thunderball should be same as thunder.and TB is your favourite but i would rank it last cause it is too underwater. it is just my oppinion :)
To find out what a Thunderball is, watch Casino Royale (2006).

A View to a Kill is my favourite Bond theme song. And the movie is not as bad as you say. It's an eighties version of Goldfinger (not "Goldenfinger").
OHMSS theme tune has no lyrics, but it sounds better than most theme songs.
