May I point out, for what it's worth, that I first heard this song circa 1984 on The John Peel Show, and I clearly remember him saying "that's one of the most powerful instrumentals I've ever heard". Reason I remember so specifically is because I used to hang on every word he said, as I was too young for girls and drink. So this song would have been around before 1987.
lol, watched 'Caligula' last night and when he yells " crawl crawl crawl I hate them!" I was thinking after 21 years I finally know where this sample came from!
Thanks for clearing that up. I'm from Germany so I only recognised quite early on the 2001 sounds. But that the other stuff is from Caligula is quite new to me.
@cman7142000 The CD & the LP I think are different, from memory. I only really remember the record & the Joy Division CD of Substance, which again is different from the LP.
Negative. This tune was ONLY released via Factory Benelux ( Belgium ) as a single backed with an instrumental of thieves like us. It appeared however in the DOUBLE CD of substance ( not the double ViNyl ) and Maybe in some double cassettes.
@drysocketman maybe that explains why the double cassette packaging had a little round black sticker with 'import' written on it. I loved the slightly different versions in this and the 'import' version of Low Life but haven't heard them for many a year. Thankyou for posting this.
Weird fucking tune.....I love it. How can these guys keep turning out truly original material, one after the other??? True genius

It isn't in this video but the best part of this song is at the very beginning, when Steve counts the drums in in a strong Manc accent...

Just a bit intense for new order :) its brilliant I bet there would have been a few bands that would have "murdered" for this tune at the time

I'm sure this was on Power Corruption and Lies ('83)?
