Really like the echo effect on the snare. Definitely different. You should continue to pursue the more experimental and progressive elements of your writing and playing. This is great stuff. And remember, the video doesn't have to be incredibly complex either. You do a great job with the videos but I would be perfectly content just watching you switch from instrument to instrument. Keep it up and God bless ya!
Please tell me what you are recording with and how you are doing it. If you would like some tips on how to sound better let me know. I am going to school for sound recording so i could help. The drum sound is really bad. But that's just constructive criticism:p i don't know how else to put it simply. But let me know.
Holy hell, i added a comment seven months ago O.o I remember that actually, quite clearly, and i have to admit that I was half star struck that i got a reply from this OMB genius himself. Anywho, on to the flattery. This is good shit, for real, youre going places. id be damn proud of myself.
interesting. i don't quite get the MLK clips, and the visuals turn on and off so much at times that it can be seizure inducing, but the song's pretty good; i would probably download it if i could. good luck, dude!
hahah ur comments crack me up man, thanks for the feedback. and ya that american boy song is pretty lame but i was bored and figured it out haha but this video took the longest, about 2 months or so? i am in high school, so that is an elongated time. if i had all day to do it, it would take like 5 days haha
this is really sick man. what program do you use? the only bad thing is that your traditional looks forced and unrelaxed, so im guessing you haven't been playing in it for long. but great job
I've commented on your "One Man Band" Before, and i never really took any effort to listen to this, but i relise you're not only talented music wise, the editing is Fantastic! Something i have had a desire to learn! Thanks for making this, putting in the time and effort to make the music...Well mean something! Not just random words you don't mean. Keep making music, and i will keep buying/subscribin :) Starting young is the best way to go :P P.S. The keyboard edit was my fav. 0:41 :)
wow man, thank u for the killer comment. you have no idea how much people like you help me to keep "making more"
im really not very good at editing, i just get stupid ideas and i spend my life on them haha. about the starting young thing, see, you would THINK that, but ill tell ya man, i have visited like 2 colleges for music and recording arts and there really is no job out there that is what im doing! ha i wish =/ but its either composition, or video editing, or shooting, or rec. engineer ...
do u by any chance rollerblade? not sure where you are from or anything, but i played inline hockey for like 5 years and seeing your account name i thought maybe i had found a fellow skater haha
for the stick drag i used an effect on Motion (part of final cut stud.) called strobe. u can set the amt. and all that other good stuff. it took like 5 mins to render but it was worth it haha
He is calling it a One Man Band...because thats what it is. There is no one else doing anything that is doing anything except him. He does it all, making it literally a "One Man Band" Good job. Keep it up!! By the way, when is another video coming up?
that is a very helpful comment mel. thank u, but i was kiiiiiinda figuring u would be the guy saying "more music focus" haha melvin. u always want more music. haha
i know hugio55 personally. and just so you know he is the most humble and respectful person with his talents and drumming and music. he rarely talks about his videos outside of youtube to anyone unless they approach him. and besides, if he is proud of his work, why not put it out there like he does?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
hmmm, well, its all pretty good, and impressively orchestrated, but it would come off alot better if you didn't seem so full of yourself. Most of its not too complex and i personally don't really like sound at all. The only really impressive thing about it is some of the stuff you're doing with the logic and pro tools stuff. I think the amount you play up the "ONE MAN BAND" aspect of it is just kind of ridiculous.
what do i call it then man. and pop stars singing about themselves being the best and sexy and no one can touch thier skill is fine and i cant call my stuff OMB? come on man, any one u ask who knows me will tell u i SAY MYSELF its easy as crap to do. NO WHERE besides the title is "full of myself"
come on man, if u "dont like sound" than dont listen at all!
sadly like 5 years, haha i guess u could consider them "loose" years, because i know people who play for like 1 year and blow me out of the water haha
Oh wow, how did I miss this? I loved the first two, but didn't know there was a third... and this one's awesome! Love your style, both in music and video editing!
make that snare tighter i wanna hear that baby ring. tighten the heads but loosen the snares like a quarter turn. It might make it sound shitty not sure, they are all different.
another great video. not my favorite of the three but this one definitely stands out from the other two. glad you made this one a little long and props on the video effects
I also found you in Ronald Jenkee's site. Good stuff. Not sure how to say it, but even though it is a very well arranged song, it lacks a certain maturity. But then again, your young and maybe this is just the way you want it!
And of course money is always an issue when producing a piece like this.
It grows on me the more I listen to it. That said I can try to offer some constructive criticism.
It always helps to listen to other groups that are very technical in their music craft-manship. A few examples are RUSH, Led Zepplin and Yanni. You may hate him, but take Yanni for example. Listen to some of his compositions that he has made on synthesizers only, and then see how easily he transfers the music over to a full orchestra for his live concerts.
There are some sounds in your work of art that sort of sound like they are being played on a fisher-price toy, but of course not everyone has tons of money to buy all the state of the art equipment. I think what I am trying to say is that if everything was played on analog instruments they would sound so much richer. But of course being that that is out of the question make that rich, smooth, full sound your goal.
I will give you some other artists on youtube to listen to...
Here are some names on youtube that are good to subscribe to. darkein , ronaldjenkees , Surferturfer86 , SynthNinja , tonyduke , oddmusic .
Check out some live Yanni and RUSH: yanni in live taj mahal Renegade, Rush - Xanadu ( Exit Stage Left ), Rush La Villa Strangiato live Pink Pop Festival
Check out my music playlist. There's some wild music on here.
Forgot to say, that I loved the video editing. And keep using normal drums. I love that primitive sound. Digital drums just don't do it. Neil Peart was using digital for awhile, and now that he switched over to the real thing, his drumming sounds so much fuller.
Keep up the great work. Believe it or not, I found you through Ronald Jenkees page, he had one of your songs up on his you tube page. You should try and get in touch with him, make some stuff with him... You are of a high caliber in the music world, at least to me.
This is awesome: An audio and video extravaganza! There are moments that remind A LOT of seeing DJ Shadow Live. Keep up the great work, you're truly inspirational!
wow man, haha ive never been compared some one so wicked! haha now YOUR truly inspirational! haha =] too bad i suck so bad compared to good stuff like that
I wasn't accusing you, it just reminded me of that. I admire you drum skills, your style is very similar to mine. I hope to see more from you. Best of luck. ;)
Hey man you rock you did an awesome job on both the music and the editing I know it must have taken forever but just know it was worth it Keep it up I'll ttyl

i like it
and i think you have some good compositional talent
impressive with the "mixing of videos" (i dont know how to call it)
but im more impressed on the music than how it was put together on youtube
and maybe you should focus more on the music.
at times the video got a little cheesy
i still liked the music alot and thinks what your doing is great
