It can be a rewarding career. And just remember the blokes who do take the piss, because you will get them, will be people who have never been in the shit and have never needed a medic. Usually fat REMFS.
You will be given respect by the people you would like respecrt from, the rest F*ck em.
I dont normally comment on vidoes but I could'nt help my self. The CMT 1 course is! recognised in civvy street. If being a Paramedic is your goal, you can do a 7 month conversion course when you get out. Not only that many CP companies, or Remote medic companies for that matter, only take on ex services especially from the Army.
Whilst in there is different routes you can take. If you want to soldier get attached to an Inf unit. As you progress there is courses you can do, which enable
27 Victoria Crosses and 2 Bars (Bar - 2 victoria crosses) 106 Medical Regiment! And brother has just passed selection! Couldn't imagine being in anything else! Best decision of my life! Never looked back! And yep. Can be boring. Like most jobs. But its worth it! P.S if your wanting to get in do it now! The waiting list is getting long!
hi ppl i dont really know much about medics but i think a combat medic could be an option for me does anyone know what qualifications you need to be a medic in british army?
Keogh Barracks - November 1979 - Hale Squad - The start of 13 years service in the RAMC / QARANC (male Nurses like myself were re-badged from the RAMC into the QARANC in 1992) - Some great times; DKMH in the early 80s, BMH Hong Kong in the late 80s / early 90s etc etc
When I leave college, I'm hoping to become a Field Medic. I'm not looking for personal glory or to be hero, I want to save lives and pay back my country for everything it has given to me. Can anyone tell me whether any medical conditions i.e. Primarily Asthma, Minor Heart Murmur that would prevent me from enlisting?
@mososaur : all a matter of degree of severity. Like any occupation, you have to be fit to carry out the role fully, especially when your mates and patients depend on you being there. Best hing is to go to the forces career info office and ask. At least then you will know one way or the other. Did 19 years as a combat med tech myself, and miss it like hell!
i really want to be a combat medic, but i also want 2 go 2 uni and do paramedic sciences first as the recruiter says that CMT is not recognised on civvie street, but no matter how hard he pushes i WILL NOT join the dark side as i will be a graduate. 2 all u guys currently serving... great job, stay safe and if we are still there in 3 years i sincerely hope as a cmt i dont have to see you.
That's what im going for mate, left the Royal Welsh last Xmas (Big fecking mistake lol) and now im going back in but learning a trade this time round. Do all RAMC recruits train at Pirbright???? i am researching in to them, it's just a question thats been on my mind that's all :) cheers.
Yeah they do mate. I trained there, passed out Aug '08 based in catterick now with 3cs. Due to go out with the mercians next march to afghan. great trade mate, hard work tho.
oh and i have entry level 3 for my qualifications english and maths errm because i have two years to wait to go in the army i am doing the public services course but if i dont get on it im going to study hard at college for two years and get my gcse's the army is what i wanna do and i belive i can do it i just gotta try harder and put the work in if u dont put the work in u dont suceed right people x
hi my name is sharna im 16 and i want to join the army and be a combat medic i signed for the army when i was 15 but because i had a fit due to the hot weather i have to wait two years so im signing again when im 18 because i wanna be a soldier and join the army just gotta try harder thanks for reading if u do lol x
with CMT the qualifaction isnt reconized in Civie life, and it is not a paramedic. in civies terms in an EMT (Emeregency Medical Tec.) But when you get out of Army into Civie you will have to do other courses the Army does let you do NVQs in a wide range of things but you have to work hard to get on to the courses. I wouldnt go for CMT If I was you. Although there is a waiting list for it. You basically set up field hospitals. What was you're BARB test? I would go for QARANC.
@ooJaydeeoo is 52 not a fail,i was told if i get under 60 i will have to resit it again in 6 wks or months, thank fuck i got 72.hahaha sgt probably told me it to put the shits up me
It's a shame you appear to have no idea what your talking about. It's true however that we only have one life, and some of us dedicate it to maintaining the freedom that our great grandfathers gave us. The army makes leaders and it takes a real man, or woman to do all that they can either by maintaining life, fighting or supporting in other ways in order to create a better future for us all.......
......Just for a second imagine life in a country where you or your family are oppressed for your beliefs, stoned for adultery or hung for not agreeing with a political power or simply for statements like that and then tell me to walk away.... dont think i can, could you?
hiya,i spent 4 years in the ramc + this vid shows the best parts of it.if youre serious about joining, bear in mind that its a tough job,its stressful, boring at times and with not much thanks.despite that, it was the best years of my life and i plan rejoining.i would recommend it to you, only as long as youre realistic about it.oh, and take no notice of that spam comment because ramc soldiers have won more V.C's for their bravery than any other and being a medic is about saving life not taking it.

If theres anyone on here that wants to send or chat with me about CMTs that would be awesome, names Alan 22 from Edinburgh.

Cheers!
