@Msdaisydolly Korea has a history of being a weak country, it's always been taken by other countries. So in order to prevent another country from taking Korea, they keep all men trained in military so that if DPRK or China or Japan try to attack them, they have an enormous arsenal. So it's a mandatory 2 years in the army for all men.
