I always try to reply back! Of course, sometimes it might take a while depending on where I am and stuff like that, but. Yeah, always try to get back to people when they ask or comment :)
Haha, thanks man! A friend suggested it, and I just had to use it!
The stuff we're using goes by the name of regal ice, which is another name for rolled fondant or sugarpaste! :) Being from Sweden Im not really that well versed when it comes to fondants, so I bet there's a lot of different styles of it. But its at least a form of it, that much I know ;)
Ah good idea with the blueberrys and such.. (Cogwheels in brain start spinning) Also cakeball is probably the best way to make the head... you could make it like a big gap with the tounge sticking out and another buntailball infront of the head.. :)
This is starting to sound more and more like an artpiece! ^^ I think it would make a brilliant centerpiece, Rattle and Roll facing each other, and their "tails" going of to opposite sides. It would be big, but I think it would look brilliant!
thats true. the best idea I have come up with so far is one of the snakes from snake rattle and roll (not the most iconic game, but i love it!). Lay the buns on a tray or somethingn in a snakelike swirl and glace with frosting or icing. the head kan either be a larger bun or some other cake... i think it would be cool for a birthdaycake or at least when there will be more people around to help with the eating :P what do you think?
That could really work! You could also used mashed berries (strawberries and blueberries Im thinking) to get the buns to be the right color for the snakes! The head might be a bit tricky to shape out of a bun, but it should totally be doable! Otherwise, you could go with cakeball-mix, thats usually really easy to sculpt if you get the proportions right :)
And, Snake Rattle and Roll was one of the most iconic games of my childhood, so it all depends on how you define "iconic" ;) Still to this day can't finish that last stage though.
have you tried using sugarpaste? it comes in every possible color and you can even make it yourself if u want to... :) really nice show, very inspirational for a bakingfreak and a gamer as myself! :)
Hi! It seems like regal icing is pretty close to sugarpaste, why it has a different name is beyond me though! :) So yes, I've tried it, and its really quite handy. Personally, I prefer to use marsipan, but thats probably just since thats what I grew up with! But I've started to use more and more sugarpaste over time, so Im getting there! ^^ Thanks for watching!
@TanukiKGA marsipan is better tasting to! :) I suspected that they were close to the same thing, they looked quite alike :) I am thinking about gaming-up our classical swedish cinnamonrolls in some way... 8-bitbaking rules!
I think that the taste is a matter of.. taste. Ok, that sounded a bit weird, but my point is that I think its due to the fact that we simply are used to the marsipanflavour. People who grew up with sugarpaste seems to enjoy that over marsipan, so :)
Yeah, me too! But then there's that eternal question: just what can you make it into? ^^
Yeah, I felt that there was a time for change, and that I needed a name that.. well, at least somewhat represented what the show was about :) Well ,at least a bit more than just "in the kitchen" ;)
Nice bro!! Finish product looks fantastic! I wish to sink one in my mouth! :D Hey, you got a new assistant! Very lovely =) I recognize your sis too! Looking forward to future episodes! I will DEFINITELY try all of these when I get my own kitchen!
The regal icing took a while to get used to, since we dont have anything like that here in sweden, so it was sort of a new taste for me. But once the first bite was through, they were quite delish! :)
Yeah, those was just sheer luck that I found! I had a vial of silver sugar pearls standing in a cupboard, and realized that there had to be "normal" sugar pearls somewhere out there. I hadnt seen those though, I guess people like the "fancy" silver ones better. But on the morning that we shot this, the store down the street started selling 'em! :) They will definetly return for more use if I make more things based on Pac-Man! :)
Haha, yes! I thought it was time to give the show something that at least said something about what it was about. The 1Up-reference is of course to videogames, and 2 Cakes..well. Yes, Two Girls-references for life! ^^ Might not be the best reference to make in a food show, but darnit, I laughed my head off when the name was suggested, so I knew I had to keep it :)
My only real gripe about a lot of these recipes is that they're mostly just cupcakes and cookies. How about making some Castlevania-style pot roast, complete with breakable wall? :P
Well, it IS called 2 Cakes 1UP ;) Baking is what I do! ^^
No, but seriously, I have been thinking alot about doing foodstuff as well. The problem is getting it to look somewhat iconic. I have some plans for breadsticks and crackers and stuff like that, but food.. might have to wait a while. I do have a recipe for something I call Kakariko Harvest Chicken, referencing Zelda, but thats just a chicken dish! It doesnt resemble anything gamewise, and thats sort of what Im aiming for :)
Oh dear. That could be rather macabre. I Like it! :D We'll see what I can do about that :) Otherwise you'll just have to settle for chocobo peeps or something around easter ;P
But, yeah, I will think about doing more stuff, it just takes a bit more to make it look like something :) But thanks for the suggestion, its always great getting feedback and getting suggestions!
And hey, you can't tell me that the rainbow road cakes were "just" a cake! That was a rather bizarre recipe if I say so myself ;)
Again, thanks for the comment, and most of all, thank you for watching!
@TanukiKGA - Ah, I must've missed the rainbow road cakes. By the way, I was actually just referring to the site where you got some of the recipes. I just figure that some more variety would be nice. Also, it'd be awesome to see a full meal (from appetizers to the main course to desserts) to consist entirely of stuff like this.
Ah, yes, good ol' snackordie :) I still have some design ideas that I might borrow from them, but nowadays the recipe are all 2 Cakes 1UP :) And a lot of times the recipes I ended up using in my old vids was a lot different from the ones on that site, due to me having to replace items and work around that, often changing up things quite a bit :) But the rainbow roads were the first ones that I designed from scratch :)
Goddamn you, Johnny! Now I got to make even more sweets. So much for my promise to myself to stay away from that stuff for a while. I can't help wonder how these would be with colored marshmallow icing. Yes, I know, it's a kiddie-icing, but I still love it.
Still, another great video. Always great to see new and old faces on the channel (Even if your sister's cameo was too short for this video).
Hey, there is no such thing as kiddie-icing ;) I've actually been thinking about including marshmallows in some way in some recipe soon, and I might just go with that :D Thanks for the tip!
Yeah, we tried to get her to do more. But there will be more of her in the future :)
Awesome as usual, it just keeps getting better and better. :D You're surrounded with friends to help you out in the videos, that's nice! What's "regal icing" in swedish? I tried googling it with no results.
I honestly don't know what the swedish equalent would be. The stuff I used in the video was imported from the US. Tastewise is a bit on the nutty side, but not quite like nutmeg or marsipan. Its really hard do describe the taste of it! Sorry I couldnt be of more help there :/ I got mine from the english shop by the way :) So its still possible to buy the stuff here in sweden!
That's crazy you reply back and some people don't reply back to there fans and I like the name you pick for the show! =)

The thing we were using in the vid goes by the name "regal ice". Its the same thing as sugarpaste! :)
This vid was made before I started buying the stuff under its proper name, so thats why we were calling it by that other name.
You could of course also use marsipan if you like the taste of that better! :)
