  • One issue i found with my 93 900ss was starting when the engine was hot. I.e after a decent ride, quick fuel stop, then off again. It would sound like a near flat battery, but the shop advised me to increase the cable dia earth, battery, starting solenoid etc. Increasing the dia to something resembling car battery leads has made it start first touch of the button, hot or cold. This is because of the lower cable resistance. Then again mine isn't high comp.eng w/flat slide carbs. Nice bike

  • Warum dreht der Spacko so am Gashahn rum? Lieber mal ne fette BAtterie rein, dann kackt auch net der Anlasser ab.

  • the duke might need a more powerful starter motor to start. its either that or the starter motor is nackered

  • @chrislambert1000 actually it was 15F out, race carbs with no choke, the carbs were dry AND 11.25:1 compression. all together, it took a couple of apempts to get it to start. if you hear a ducati do that in normal weather it is usually a weak ground and requires a beefier ground wire and a fully charged battery, but if the battery isn't charging properly it might do that too, so then you may need a new regulator and so on and so on. it is a ducati after all!

  • @chrislambert1000 have u ever owned a ducati they all sound lazy on start up

  • good,,,,,good,,,,,goood

  • Hey man..great bike...even better sound..V2 power..

  • Sorry,

didn't wanr to sound so rude.

It got carried away with me :-)

You got a nice bike, and I know the feeling of "Oh - no - baby!!" very well.

You watch out-keep those closers tight :-)

    Jens

  • Sounds nice though! And a lot of polishing work had to be done :-)

  • I like the way he tries to look megacool and wanks the throtttle like crazy while the poor engine tries to get running...Man, after injecting 2 or 3 times, just try and hold the throttle open just 2 mm and hold it STILL like that while starting. You will be surprised how easy she starts up.With much healthier low revs.Oh-and yes, I have a 900 SL, and yes, it's got 41 FCRs on it and yes, I have a Nichols Flywheel. Save some money. The whole Valve System of a Duc doesn't like High Revs when cold.

  • correct, you start a 41mm FCR 900ss exactly how you state. However, this video was shot when the bike was 15 degrees F. in that kind of weather it takes a far bit more work, she has no choke after all. as for tiring to look uber-cool, i think it was more like, please, please don't stall again.

  • rudyvroom sounds smart I alredy do the same thing and it allows better start with proper fast idle choke. But I think this bike has performance carbs with no choke at all. probally some sort of flat slide configuration

  • V2 power...!!!

  • che cifone

  • ridicolo!

a stento sei riuscito ad accenderla...bah!

  • yeah, i don't like the fact you have to hold a cold engine open at 2500-3000 RPM, but if it is below 65 F you have little choice. however the throttle response is amazing once at temp.

to save the engine i like to hit the start button with the kill switch on and let her turn over a couple of times with no spark to get some oil in the system before i light her up...

  • That's right, when you have Keihin the choke becomes inoperative. Give it three twists of the throttle, like you did, and it fires right up.

  • amazing v2 sound!

  • yes, on your left steering is a choke, did you know this?!?

  • lol

  • Dual Keihin FCR 41mm flatslide carbs on rails!

no choke! you just have to hold her open until the intake runners warm up. then she will idle.

  • when it is 15 degrees F. and the carbs are dry

    you have to tickle her

    to get her to wake
